About the property

Amazing Ocean View-private Home With Pool

Welcome to Komohana Hale! This two-story Vacation Home has a private pool with waterfall, large deck area (partial covered) with beautiful ocean views and large high beam ceilings.

Two master suites (King Beds) are on separate ends of the house open to the lanai and pool area. The third bedroom is a large open loft area. It has a closet and a half bath, as well as a lanai with a great ocean view. There is a trundle bed available. This area is perfect for kids, however may not be suitable for adults wanting privacy.

The main living area is beautifully tiled. The kitchen has granite counter-tops and includes a large walk in pantry.

Great location! Close to town and the beach is less than 3 miles from the house.

The Kailua-Kona Coast has the most colorful and spectacular pink, lavender, and orange sunsets in Hawaii. Maybe you’ll be lucky and spot the famous 'Green Flash” at sunset, as the sun dips behind the horizon. You can watch the incredible Kona sunsets right from one of the decks or the lanai, as well as the cruise ships, para-sailing, whales and dolphins.

The Kailua-Kona Historical Village is a short drive from Komohana Hale. The Village is very quaint, with lots of charm and good shopping right along the water’s edge. Some of the activities you can find in the Village and nearby are: beaches, luau’s, farmer’s markets, art galleries, jewelry shops, restaurants, boating, snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing, boogie boarding, and deep sea fishing…Just about every water sport you can think of! There are also several great golf courses nearby. There is so much to do to stay active, or you can do nothing and just lounge on the beach or by the pool!

Please feel free to contact us directly to find out how we can help make your Hawaiian Vacation Dreams come true!

Hi Krista,

Thanks so much for a wonderful time. My family and I spent 12 days in this "home". We've stayed in several different houses in Kona and this one felt like Home. Great view, location and setting. Close to town with a nice elevation and view. We absolutely loved it. We will be back.

Thanks again for your help and attention to detail, Krista. It was a pleasure dealing with you. Aloha!

Already planning our next stay

  • 5 of 5

The entire reservation process was easy and Krista and her team kept us up to date with reminder emails. We arrived on an hour earlier than the noted checkin time and I called the office and Krista came right over and ensured that the house was clean and ready to go. The house looks small from the outside but is really spacious on the inside. Our daughter was in the pool within 5 minutes of arriving at the rental and everyday after thereafter. The pool was really a key part of our stay. It allowed our "fish" to be in the pool while I was cooking dinner or just hanging out at the house in the morning as we were planning our day. The house is centrally located to many things in Hawaii and close enough to town but just far enough away for peace and quiet. The house has everything that you could want in terms of kitchen, beach gear & linens. We did find the ants to be frustrating at first but it is Hawaii, when you pick up groceries get some ziplock baggies for everything you would leave out in the pantry (chips, cookies, crackers) and problem solved. The maintenance guy got back to us right away due to an electrical issue and they sent over an electrician, he was there a short time and took care of the problem. This house made our stay in Hawaii feel like we were at home. We are already planning our return to this amazing property, by far a great VRBO experience.

Pool made it worth while

Overall a nice, clean house. Ants got to be a bit too much. There were a few problems such as dishwasher didn't always work (the part where you put in detergent didn't always open) and the toilet in the master bathroom needs repair but overall an enjoyable place to say.

Wonderful home and location

  • 5 of 5

As the other reviewer said, the pictures don't do the place justice. The rooms are much bigger than what they appear and the view of the ocean/sunsets are a really great bonus.

Kitchen has everything you need. There's enough towels for everyone, 2 beach chairs, 3 grass mats, an umbrella, 2 coolers, a few collapsible bag coolers, and there was even some de-fog solution for snorkel masks and some sunscreen. One bedroom has an amazing ceiling fan that will keep this Alaskan cool enough to sleep during the very warm nights. The other bedroom ceiling fan was lacking a tiny bit, but there was a small table tower fan that did the trick.

Nearly all the sites and shops we visited were a really short drive from the house. The neighborhood was really quiet and relaxing. It felt close enough to everything, without having to deal with the loudness and business of the city.

Be sure to take advantage of the stack of reusable shopping bags in the pantry. We forgot to take some with us when we went shopping and ended up adding to the pile.

There was a folder with quite a few places listed to visit, it was a great place to start for a first time visitor like me. There was a small problem with the refrigerator (that we accidentally caused, DO NOT mess with the freezer temperature), and the rental company was really nice about it had someone out really quickly to take a look at it.

FYI, the pool is only 4 feet deep. It's great for laps and relaxing in, but a part of me had hoped for at least 8 feet deep. Can't really complain though, it's a private pool with a cute little waterfall.

2nd FYI there was a nest of Grey Francolin birds right by the pool/open sliding glass doors during our stay. They will do a very loud call between 5:30-7:00 every morning. It's no fault of the rental company, but bring some ear plugs if you wish to sleep in. Small price to pay when you stay in paradise, but worth it.

I would definitely recommend my friends, and would stay here again.

Very peaceful and quiet can clean

  • 5 of 5

First trip to Hawaii. Visited with our 12 yr old son, husband and sister in law. Perfect size, loved the pool. Bedrooms were huge and beds comfortable. Linens were nice quality (I am a bit picky about linens in a rental property). Showering in the master bathroom felt like showering outside with the glass wall, but still private. I think we were there for over 5 days (out of our 10) before we even saw or heard a neighbor. Location was perfect, easy to get to all attractions. And felt very safe. Most nights slept with the sliding glass doors open to get the beautiful breeze. Highly recommend and would try to book again.

Great home and location,very clean

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent 6 weeks at this home. We had 3 different families visit during our stay. Everyone loved the house, pool and neighborhood. We loved both bedrooms being on opposite sides for privacy. I'm and early riser and have my espresso machine steaming first thing. Everyone slept through it! Bedrooms are huge enough to fit baby beds if needed. Both bedrooms also have their own full updated bath. The loft is also very large and would easily accommodate the air bed along with the trundle bed that is there. The loft also has a half bath. The pictures are very accurate, however, they really do not show how large the house is. Also a walk in pantry off the kitchen with full size washer and dryer. We have been vacationing in Kona for approximately 20 years and we have found its not only important to have a great place to stay but also a great property management company is very important. Our experience with Pacific Breeze Properties was the best we have ever had!! From changing light bulbs to bringing us a blender on a Saturday to fixing the ice machine on a Sunday (Thank you Terrance!!). Yes even in paradise things go wrong in homes and we very much appreciated the immediate response from Krista and her team. This was also the cleanest house upon arrival we have had. This location is close to everything. The only thing negative we would say, the televisions could be updated so we could use Netflix. Most vacationers probably would not care, my husband loves the television!!! We Love the Big Island and have re-booked this house for next year. Don't hesitate, the property is great!

The Kona region of the Big Island goes beyond Hawaii's traditional offerings. Sure, there's ample sun, surf and sandy beaches, but the Kona coast features so much more. Step back in time and explore Kona's history, taste some of the world's richest coffee and view marine animals in the clear waters of the surrounding Pacific Ocean. These activities and more a wait along the Big Island's Kona coast.

Location: Kona is one of seven regions on Hawaii's Big Island, encompassing a 60-mile stretch of the western coast. The Big Island sits at the southeastern end of Hawaii's island chain, and is 4,038 square miles, double the combined size of Hawaii's other seven islands.

History: Kailua-Kona, also called Kailua-Kona Town, is a city in the Kona region and was, at one point, home to King Kamehameha in the early 1800s. The Historic Kailua Village in Kailua-Kona pays homage to Kamehameha and other Hawaiian royalty with tours of historic sites such as Hulihee Palace and Mokuaikaua Church. Also located on the Kona coast is Kealakekua Bay, where captain James Cook first landed on the Big Island and eventually was killed, in 1779.

Historical Parks: Kealakekua Bay State Historical Park has a monument to Captain James Cook. Near Kealakekua Bay is the 180-acre Puuhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park, which was once a sacred place of refuge. The Kaloko-Honokohau National Historic Park is a 1,160-acre park just north of Kailua-Kona that is home to historic temples and ancient petroglyphs.

Beach Activities: There are many white-sand beaches and ocean activities available on the Kona coast, from snorkeling and surfing to whale watching and dinner cruises. The waters along the Kona coast are calm and clear, providing perfect visibility of green sea turtles, fish and other marine life while snorkeling and scuba diving. There are surfing schools that offer individual and group lessons, sport fishing charters, dinner cruises and boat tours that will put you up close to whales, dolphins, manta rays and green sea turtles.

Things to Do: There's plenty to do in Kona aside from beach and ocean activities. Kona's small towns have many shops and galleries. Take a tour up to the 14,000-foot summit of nearby Mauna Kea, either during the daytime, to enjoy spectacular views, or at night, to take in some stargazing. Visit Kona in October to take in the annual Ironman World Championship, a long-distance triathlon that attracts some of the world's top athletes.

Kona Coffee: Kona has many excellent restaurants that offer dishes featuring fresh seafood from the Pacific Ocean, but the real treat on this part of the island is Kona coffee. There are many coffee farms in Kona, the only place where Kona coffee beans are grown to produce 100 percent pure Kona coffee. The conditions in Kona are just right for growing these rare beans--elevation, constant cloud cover and rich, volcanic soil. Aside from taking home some of this famous beverage, visitors can tour many of the area's coffee farms, and visit the Kona Coffee Living History Farm.
