Waimea is the perfect town. No, really, it is. It's country, yet cosmopolitan, located smack-dab in the middle of one of the largest privately owned cattle ranches anywhere, home to the headquarters of W.M. Keck Observatory, the most scientifically productive telescopes in the world, filled to overflowing with luscious, farm fresh produce (and farmer's markets) that supply the farm-to-table restaurants Merriman's, Red Water Cafe, Village Burger to name just a few, add to that the top-notch cultural hub of the Kahilu Theatre and don't forget that everything is within walking distance, what more could you possibly ask for?

With Aloha, Zoe and Scott
Hi! Thanks for stopping by.
We have lived on the Big Island for 12+ years. We love the outdoor lifestyle, hiking, swimming, kayaking & snorkeling as often as we can. In our humble opinion, Kamuela is an absolute gem of a town, the very best place on the Big Island to live. We love the central location for ease of access to both sides of this amazing place, and can't wait to share some of the greatest insider tips with you!
The suite is beautiful! Brand new and so many thoughtful touches. Beautiful finishings throughout. Loved having two bathrooms for our family of 4, as well as a washer and dryer to use after we we caught in a mid-day shower. The location is great just 1-3 minutes to all of the shops & restaurants in Waimea. We visited two farmers markets on Saturday and the kitchenette was prefect for preparing our dinner and breakfast. The king bed was so comfortable with nice linens and so was the sofabed. The location was quiet and Zoe and Scott were easy to reach by text on our day of arrival and departure. The directions to the home and to access the suite were easy to follow. We didn't need to contact them at all during our stay as the suite had everything we could have asked for! Highly recommend this suite for those coming to explore this part of the Big Island.
The Ginger Garden Hale was perfect for our plans to explore the island. The ohana was welcoming, spotless, and very practically equipped. We especially appreciated having two bathrooms. We used the kitchen to fix simple breakfasts and to keep beverages & left-over dinners cold. You wouldn't want to cook dinners with what's available. The owners are exceptionally helpful and know what their guests need. Zoe put together a fantastic resource reviewing everything from restaurants to urgent care locations. Another bonus: a trail that starts at the end of Kahawai street and follows a streambed all the way into town.
Centrally located for activities on the northern part of the big island. Ideal for staying away from the large tourist traffic in Hilo and Kona. Very spacious apartment with two full baths. You'll enjoy the spacious shower! Trees and shrubs surrounding the apartment provided excellent privacy in the city. Very quiet neighborhood. Several good restaurants in town providing a variety of local foods. King size bed made sleeping fantastic. Cool breezes in the evenings and nights added to the comforts of our stay. Would definitely stay here again.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ginger Garden Hale. Due to flight delays we did not arrive until 12.30 am. Zoe left the door open and left sweet bread, coffee, milk, papaya and banans for us. The apartment is spacious, comfortable. we enjoyed the nearby walk down the village stream, Waimea is a great location with easy access to the great beaches, Kona, North Kohala, and Hilo. Highly recommend.
Fabulous magical place
Equipped with everything we could possibly need
Our only regret is that we didn't have more time here
The Ginger Garden Hale is conveniently located a few minutes outside of Waimea. The space is very sweet and stocked with everything a vacationer would need. We loved our stay and will stay there again on our next visit.
Super comfy, very clean, and well located suite. Great layout for small family, has everything you need. We stayed 5 nights here; the central location was perfect for day trips in all direction, and there lots of things to check out in historic Waimea as well. We loved returning to the slightly cooler climate in the evening. Mahalo, Zoe!
