About Shelly Campbell

We are life partners (26 years) who decided to buy the house across the street when it came available. Over the course of two years, we gutted and rebuilt it from top to bottom. It comes fully furnished with practical and artistic pieces we created ourselves.

Background: We both grew up trailing our military dads (Army & Air Force) around the world until we grew up and started our adult lives. Still, Shelly calls Michigan her family home and Eileen calls Vermont her home of family origin.

Shelly Campbell purchased this house in 2009

Why Shelly Campbell chose St Paul

The interior and exterior of the property is in pristine condition, the neighborhood is richly diverse—white, black, Native, Mexican, Hmong, mixed race, gays, rich, poor, middle-class, democrats and republicans—you name it, we've got it. The location (by car) is 5 minutes from downtown St Paul/10 minutes from Minneapolis (to answer the number one question posed by folks: yes, we are 5 minutes from the Xcel Energy Center). A fully-functioning photo studio is located on the backside of the property—need a "Linkedin" photo, or, an update to the ten-year-old family photo? It's free with your 4-night stay! Check out Shelly's photos: search on "Shelly Campbell Studios."

Guestbook comments from the owner

Avi Gardner sent two of her best company representatives: Kelly and Katie. The two were great guests at the house—even though they were busy running all over the cities passing out Noosa Yogurt samples, they managed to keep the house immaculate, were very quiet and courteous. And, Noosa gained Twin Cities converts: during their stay Kelly and Katie gave us samples, and we've gotta admit, we're now hooked (little did we know, our neighbors already were hooked).

Perfectly charming and quiet!

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect! The community was quiet allowing for a restful retreat environment.

Quick and convenient access to all major attractions! We loved learning more about the history of St Paul and hopping on the Nice Ride bikes. Short walks to local dining.

Shelley was very accommodating and checked in throughout our stay and willing to provide recommendations if requested.

I highly recommend taking advantage of the photo shoot. Shelley was patient to get everyone relaxed to bring out natural expressions.

I hope to visit again!

Owner's Response: It was great hosting Angela, James, and Stephen. Really nice folks with spunk and sensibility! I hope they return for another visit to escape the heat of Houston—and hey, maybe even in January—just to experience the extremes of Minnesota??

We could not have been happier with our stay. This is a lovely home that is warm and inviting. Shelly is a wonderful host that has thought of everything to make your stay the best experience possible. This home is beautiful and full of charm. We can not wait to come back and stay again!

Owner's Response: Really great folks, and they left the house in perfect condition. I appreciated talking to a fellow-welder who understood the structure of the artwork I've built for the house—always fun to talk in my native builders tongue!

Great home away from home

  • 5 of 5

This lovely home in a nice St. Paul neighborhood was the perfect spot for five sisters on their annual Sisters' Road Trip. It had two living areas, an enclosed porch, and a patio with seating so there was plenty of room for together or alone time. It was clean and so well stocked. On the first full day Shelby, one of the artists who co-owns the house, brought us fresh scones for breakfast and the extra key we needed. In addition, when she knew there were five of us, they made sure we had enough dining room and patio chairs.

The house is lovely and is decorated with the art of the two artistic owners. Everywhere we looked there was another artistic surprise. I have stayed in many homes during vacations but this was among the loveliest of all.

Owner's Response: The sisters were very nice guests, and they certainly took in as much of the Twin Cities as earthly possible in a 3-day time period. Since they do live so close (well, most of them), I hope they visit again soon!

Return trip

  • 5 of 5

We discovered the Two Muses while in St. Paul for a concert the summer of 2016. When plans were made for another concert trip this summer, the first thing I did was reserve the house for our stay. It was maybe even better the second time around as we knew how wonderful the house was and felt at home just walking through the door. It's clean, well-stocked, and roomy. The art throughout the house, books and games on the shelves, and instruments in the music room are just some of the extras that fill your senses. Coffee and a book on the porch to begin the day; wine on the patio to end it. Downtown St. Paul is a few minutes away; the Mall of America, Guthrie Theater, professional sports stadiums, and more are less than a 30 minute trip . Communication from reservation request to check-out is hard to beat. We are already on the look out for a reason to visit again!

Owner's Response: Judy and the kids were great, but I didn't expect they'd be anything else. Just like last year's stay, they were respectful, adventurous, and clean. I hope they find another concert for next summer—maybe this time at the Xcel Energy Center—which would make their concert-going commute only 5 minutes!

Fabulousness!

  • 5 of 5

Five of us college friends celebrated 35 years of friendship on a trip that included staying four nights at this great rental. We were hoping the reviews and pictures were accurate, and they were spot on. Everything you need was provided, with amazing attention to detail. The artwork is fantastic and everywhere! We loved grilling out and spending the evening on the patio and on the front porch. Shelly was really good at communicating with me before, during, and after our stay; very welcoming and informative in regards to the house and the area. She offers guests a complementary photo shoot when staying four nights or longer. Do not pass up this opportunity! We didn't know what to expect and we had a blast! We left with great pictures and fond memories of our time here. We would return in a heartbeat!

Wonderful long weekend

  • 5 of 5

Our family flew up from Georgia to attend our son's wedding and stayed for four nights. Shelley was great, and very helpful, and the house felt like home! We would absolutely recommend staying here...we only wish our schedule for the weekend had not been so packed so we could have enjoyed more time at the house!

Owner's Response: Really nice folks, and wish we'd all had time to talk about Athens, Georgia—where Eileen and I called home 20+ years ago. In true Southern style, Lori and her family were very gracious people, and treated the house with great respect!
