About Shelly Campbell
We are life partners (26 years) who decided to buy the house across the street when it came available. Over the course of two years, we gutted and rebuilt it from top to bottom. It comes fully furnished with practical and artistic pieces we created ourselves. Background: We both grew up trailing our military dads (Army & Air Force) around the world until we grew up and started our adult lives. Still, Shelly calls Michigan her family home and Eileen calls Vermont her home of family origin.
Shelly Campbell purchased this House in 2009
Why Shelly Campbell chose West Seventh
The interior and exterior of the property is in pristine condition, the neighborhood is richly diverse—white, black, Native, Mexican, Hmong, mixed race, gays, rich, poor, middle-class, democrats and republicans—you name it, we've got it. The location (by car) is 5 minutes from downtown St Paul/10 minutes from Minneapolis (to answer the number one question posed by folks: yes, we are 5 minutes from the Xcel Energy Center). A fully-functioning photo studio is located on the backside of the property—need a new family portait, or a head shot for LinkedIn, Facebook, or hey, an obit photo? Search on "The Two Muses Guest House" for more info.

Perfectly charming and quiet!
This house was perfect! The community was quiet allowing for a restful retreat environment.
Quick and convenient access to all major attractions! We loved learning more about the history of St Paul and hopping on the Nice Ride bikes. Short walks to local dining.
Shelley was very accommodating and checked in throughout our stay and willing to provide recommendations if requested.
I highly recommend taking advantage of the photo shoot. Shelley was patient to get everyone relaxed to bring out natural expressions.
I hope to visit again!
It was great hosting Angela, James, and Stephen. Really nice folks with spunk and sensibility! I hope they return for another visit to escape the heat of Houston—and hey, maybe even in January—just to experience the extremes of Minnesota??
A cozy little art gallery of a house
The two lovely muses raised the bar for vacation rentals in the twin cities. No detail was overlooked. Come for a family get together, and stay for a photo shoot
Perfect place for a much needed relaxing girl's weekend!!
Everything was wonderful: hostess, house, yard, and neighborhood!!
Nice place...Great Stay...
Owners were very nice...attentive...House is a short drive from everything you need...
Andy and the gang were great sports to put up with our frigid weather. They left the place in great shape, and I hope to see them for future frozen-four tourneys.
Super clean, great location, awesome decor, wonderful host!
Staying at this house was awesome, it was very clean, and spacious. Shelly our host was great, thought of everything, even left us warmers for our toes and hands. The house had everything you could possible need, And it’s located close to resteraunts, and grocery store. I can’t thank Shelly enough for her gracious hospitality. I know where my family will stay when we are visiting St Paul. Thank you Shelly for everything.
It was great to have nice, responsible folks staying at the guest house for our big super bowl event. I have to admit, I was quite worried about renting out the house, as all my Patriot and Eagle's friends were warning me of aggressive fan behavior, but no, not Susan and Dennis ( and their fellow travelers)—very conscientious folks who are great at communication, and left the house in perfect shape.
Super clean, superior host, great location, whimsical decor
Our host Shelly receives 5 stars for service, attention to detail and meeting our needs during our 4 night stay. Location is great to downtown St.Paul. House was toasty warm when we arrived. Driveway and sidewalks cleared of recent snow fall (and was maintained throughout our stay). The entire house was immaculately clean. Kitchen fully stocked with all pots/pans/coffee maker and coffee/spices and sauces to boot. The queen beds are extremely firm. Twin beds were softer and more comfortable to us (such a personal preference not really considered a "con" for the property, just observation). Robes and house slippers for everyone made it really feel like home. Plenty of towels, blankets and high end soft linens. Our family of 5 adults enjoyed our stay tremendously and mom really appreciated the family photo shoot that was included with a 4+ night stay! Definitely recommend, definitely stay here again the next time we are in the area. We were in town to see a couple Minnesota Wild hockey games so location was great. One of the best arenas we have been to see NHL game. Super easy in and out.
Thanks to Mari and her family for staying at our guest house. They left the house in great shape (they even washed and folded all the linens!), and even survived the coldest temps we've had in years. To balance out the chilly vacation, a return visit in the summer is a must!
The house is located in a quiet neighborhood just south of downtown St Paul, and 10 minutes from downtown Minneapolis. There are many museums in the Twin Cities, including the Science Museum of Minnesota, The Children's Museum, The Walker Art Museum, Minneapolis Institute if Arts, as well as international theater such as the Guthrie (and a multitude of local live theater options). If you're into sports, the Xcel Energy Center is 5 minutes away. We've also got the Vikings Stadium, Target Field, and the Saint Paul Saint's outdoor stadium within minutes of the house. And shopping? Try Grand Avenue in Saint Paul (10 minutes from the house), or check out the Mall of America (only 15 minutes away). Restaurants are toooooooo numerous to mention—we love to eat, and we've got the whole gamut of fine eateries in the Twin Cities! When you arrive, check the Guest Manual for a list of our favorites.
