Located on the shores of Linekin Bay is the cottage you have been searching for. It's a romantic cottage built for two with breathtaking views of the natural beauty that surrounds it. The views from your cottage include Barrett's Park, Lobster Cove, Linekin Bay and world famous Cabbage Island. Watch the bright red sunrises and see how the sky changes to shades of light pinks and blues as the dawn comes forth. It's a spectacular sight that will remain with you forever. Step out onto your porch and experience the smell of the fresh morning salt air. Relax with your morning coffee made with a Keurig coffee pot so bring your K cups, otherwise we have a Mr. Coffee. The cottage has a microwave, full sized refrigerator, cable T.V. with built in DVD, and Broadband internet. The bathroom has hot and cold water with a shower.
There is a dock for your kayak or boat or use our new kayaks included in your rental. For larger boats we have a mooring with 7' of water at low tide.
You can cook your own Maine lobster and steamers over a wood fire in our outdoor fireplace, pots and pans provided or walk down the street and have your shore dinner prepared by one of the local restaurants. Be sure to save room for some delicious Smore's roasting your marshmallow's over the open fire.
The town center is a 5 minute walk where there is unlimited shopping and local seafood restaurants, boats are moored and at dockside in the harbor.
From the harbor you can catch a whale watching boat, deep sea fishing boat, take a sail on the Eastwind with Captain and author Herb Smith, or just a nice cruise around the harbor and surrounding islands and watch the seals, puffins and whales in their natural habitat.
This is a Maine vacation at its best and one that will call you back to the unique and beautiful shores of Boothbay Harbor. In September and October view the changing of the leaves and the reflections in the water...
Transportation is available from the Portland International Jetport or the Concord Coach bus stop in Wiscasset.
We are located just off the Maine Island Trail between the Sheepscot and Damariscotta Rivers. Paddle right up to our dock for a few nights rest and the exploration of Boothbay Harbor on foot and approximately 5 miles north of Damariscove Island. The cottage is adequate for two people only. Nancy Morris purchased this cottage in 1995
It is quiet and peaceful...a place where birds sing at daylight, ever changing tides, lobstermen at work hauling their traps, beautiful sunrises and hardly a cloud in the sky except when the fog rolls in...an awesome sight !
The cottage is located on the edge of town in a quiet, peaceful area. Stay awhile and steal away to barefoot days and cool nights. Here in Boothbay Harbor you can linger, let go and let these shores restore your spirit....just when you need it most. It's R & R at its best ! It's beautiful !
In all aspects of the stay, this place was outstanding. The hosts, Nancy and Mac were very friendly and went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed to make our stay the best it could be. The cottage was immaculate and decorated very well to give an atmosphere of a great seaside getaway. It is an easy walk to downtown Boothbay Harbor with many restaurants available. Cant say enough great things about it.
We had a great time at this cute little spot on the water. We came up for a cozy getaway and that's just what we got. The cottage, more like the tiny houses that are so popular today, was immaculate and had all the little touches one would want. Since this was very late in the season the Gas fireplace was not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional as it got down to the 30s overnight but the cottage stayed warm. We basically parked the car all weekend and walked to and from town. The footbridge was out so it doubled the distance but we enjoyed the exercise. Although late in the season, I was looking forward to kayaking around the cove but the kayaks were put away for the season. Also, the dock was hauled up for the season while we were there. Still, plenty of shops and restaurants were open and the crisp autumn air and lack of crowds made this a wonderful time to enjoy this part of Maine. Our hosts made the trip extra special by giving us some cuttings of their lovely Montauk Daisies after we asked about the gorgeous flowers still blooming in their garden. We will grow these in our yard to remember our little get away and think fondly of the tide rising and ebbing next to the cottage by the cove. Note: the well maintained gravel path and stairs down to the cottage is somewhat steep so be warned if you have trouble negotiating this terrain.
We so enjoyed our October stay in Boothbay Harbor at the Morrises' Lobster Cove cottage! The cottage is decorated perfectly for an ocean "feel" to it, as well as being spotlessly clean and tidy! The little gas fireplace near the bed and couch provided such a cozy and warm touch for us on the cool autumn nights we were there. There is a covered porch facing the bay where we enjoyed having a toast or two! Other than a couple of times when we went to a restaurant, we sat at the little counter in the kitchen for our meals, taking in the view of the bay and a pretty park across the water. Got lovely photos of the sunrise too!
Our only disappointment was that the kayaks had been put to bed for the winter, but that was understandable as it was late Oct. Instead of kayaking we rode our bikes to the village and did a lot of walking at preserves and the Maine Coastal Botanical Gardens (a must for every visitor!) .
The Morrises were very attentive, friendly, and helpful, obviously caring about their guests' vacation and their cottages. We highly recommend the cottage for a romantic and restful vacation!
I didn't have any particular Maine city in mind when I booked this quaint cottage. I searched on the VRBO website for an ocean front cottage for two on the ocean front. The results of the search included this property that sounded like a perfect fit for us. It certainly was! Although October temperatures are not condusive to kayaking we enjoyed the view from the cottage windows and deck. Although the cottage looks small it is furnished with everything we needed. It is amazing how Nancy used the available space to make it very user friendly. The bath towels were softer than ours at home! It is decorated with an ocean nautical theme which really added to the "feel" of the location on the ocean bay. We loved all of the water views from the multiple windows and deck. Eating breakfast while looking out at the glass-like water really provided for a great start to the day. The sunrises on a clear day were spectacular. A particularly inviting feature is the gas/propane operated wall fireplace that provides the heat for the cottage. Since the outside temperature was chilly, especially at night, the fireplace heat was often triggered by the thermostat. It provided a very relaxing and calming effect especially while falling asleep. We really appreciated having the owners, Nancy and Mac, on the property. Nancy was able to immediately take care of the one very slight problem we had with the heating. They were the perfect hosts; very helpful when we asked for suggestions for restaurants, hikes, "field trips", and beautiful coastline areas/parks where we were able to walk on the shoreline or climb on the rocks. On the other hand they were never intrusive. The Boothbay Harbor area provides such a variety of outdoor activities and this wonderful cottage is the perfect location to access all of them! It is on a very quiet street that feels miles away from the town's central visitor area but is really only a few blocks away. We highly recommend this inviting cottage when vacationing in this area of Maine!!
My husband and I had a fabulous stay at the Lobster Cove Cottage. Mac & Nan are the perfect hosts - between their welcoming nature, knowledge of the area/restaurants - they made our stay memorable and comfortable! The cottage has everything you need plus a beautiful water view. With access to kayaks, a canoe and a quick walk to town it's the perfect location. We watched the lobsterman bring in their catches, walked across the street to a local park, went swimming, fishing, kayaked, and walked to nearby local hotspots for meals. The cottage does have a kitchenette with everything you need but with so many great restaurants in the area there is plenty to choose from. We cannot thank Mac & Nan enough - it was an amazing stay and opportunity to unplug!
The little cottage on the cove is the perfect place to unwind, relax, and just be. Sit on the balcony and let nature soothe your soul. We spent six days here, some just relaxing and reading, taking out the kayaks, and others exploring Booth Bay Harbor and the surrounding area. Don't miss the Botanical Gardens. Nan and Mac are the perfect hosts, offering a well equiped and clean cottage and lots of ideas on things to do! We highly recommend this gem!!
We loved the cottage! It was small but had all we needed. We used the hot plates to make breakfast, so eating in the cottage was doable. We used the kayaks a couple of times. Nancy and Mac were great! They were so kind. And the location was amazing! Major bonus! We walked to town for some meals. Great places to eat in town. Try Cod Head for breakfast and the Bistro for supper! Only one warning: Sprint phone service is non existent. With the wireless in the cottage we were able to stay on touch via the internet with the kids, which worked fine for us. Can't wait to recommend this to our friends!
