About Marilena Racalbuto

I was born in the countryside but I grew up in the city center of Vicenza. After the birth of our daughter, I came back with the family to live in the nature. We live in the large two-family house that we share with guests.

Marilena Racalbuto purchased this chateau / country house in 1972

Why Marilena Racalbuto chose Vicenza

When more than 40 ago we bought the old farm, we were fascinated by the site where it was: an amphitheater of hills all around and an almost pristine environment. In this ancient house of 1700/1800, located in a small village where our family has lived for generations, guests will be greeted with warmth and respect of the privacy and can enjoy the beautiful views of the Berici and Lake Fimon.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

The location is very special for the big open space. You'll have a surprise for the quantity of stars and sky you may look over you!

Ideal home, location, and ambiance for a family.

  • 5 of 5

From the outset of our trip we had many variables and were therefore not exactly"ideal guests". For example, we were unable to give even an approximately accurate arrival time. Additionally we decided we would like to arrive a few days earlier however the apartment was already booked. When we inquired about the possibility, At the very last minute, The owners made arrangements for us to stay somewhere close by.. Even on our first evening, we arrived four hours later than expected. Nevertheless, they awaited our late arrival and ensured we were comfortably settled in. Initially, we only intended on staying two weeks. However the apartment has the most magnificent setting and peaceful and relaxing ambience that we ended up extending our stay another two weeks.

Everything about our experience with the property, the owners, the area, was favorable. The location is ideal for accessing Venice, Verona, Lake Garda, Padova, And many other lovely nearby "must see's". The owners were very knowledgeable about the local area and were always nearby to provide us with"insider tips". This meant for example, our trip to and from Venice went smoothly and We were able to enjoy the experience fully.

The owners exhibited exactly the right balance between warmth and friendliness while also providing us with privacy and respect. We have traveled extensively in Europe and have rarely had such a thoroughly satisying, pleasurable, and home-like environment.

The house has everything you could want: a kitchen bathroom, bedrooms, fireplace, and charm galore. And no photo can adequately express the glory of the surrounding hills, lake and landscape. You have your very own large terrace with plenty of seating and of you onto the countryside. It is far superior to staying in a hotel as by staying in this home you willhave a wonderful life chance to experience the non-touristic, local, and friendly lifestyle of the Italians.

We were a family of two adults and four teenagers. During the entirety of our stay every single one of our family members was delighted by this house and the warmth of the owners. If you would like to experience Italy at it's best we highly recommend you book this property.

Poggio al Lago - Delightful property

  • 5 of 5

The property and the whole area were fabulous. The owners were charming and welcoming and we can only apologise for our inability to speak Italian. Excellent size accommodation. This is a great base from which to visit both Verona and Venice, but the lesser known Vicenza was also worth a visit. The kids loved the local Acquapark. Overall we had a very relaxing stay. Our sincere thanks to Marilena, Ugo and Stress (the cat) for helping to make it so enjoyable. Vincent, Catherine, Maria and Georgina.

"The house did not have a view on the lake as mentioned and we only had one terrace as our private room outside. The owners who live in the first part of the house have the view on the lake in their spacious garden, which you have to cross to reach the entrance. We felt a bit watched over. The big ground around the house is not for use, it is either to steep with plantation or asphalted. It felt more like staying with other people than in a holiday house, tucked away in side street of a very small village."

Owner's Response: Those who made the booking, due to some misunderstanding. was probably expecting something quite different, although the photographs are, by all accounts, very loyal. Someone said that the reality is better. In thirteen years we have never had any guest who has complained about the shortage of privacy or space. The entrance of the apartment is reached via a sidewalk that borders the garden overlooking the lake and which, like the olive grove below, is available for all the people. For exclusive use of guests, attached to the apartment, a 40sqm terrace (with a pergola, very precious in summer) enjoying the view on the woods of the hills, the valley with part of the lake and the common garden. For exclusive use of the owners, a courtyard between two buildings, without view on the valley with the lake, but on the hills. The paved road ends at the entrance of the property of 2000sqm, giving rise to the WWF nature trail that leads directly to the lake with walk of less than thirty minutes in open spaces and panoramic views. The house, part of a small ancient hamlet, is located in a natural park and therefore it is unthinkable that there is a large village nearby. Moreover, the information gives the exact distances from the nearest shops and the city centre of Vicenza. And finally, knowing that they felt observed, I can tell that in three weeks I saw them no more than ten times. Viewing their need of privacy, not to disturb, to communicate, I often left a message on the table of the terrace.

"La région de la Vénétie ...

  • 5 of 5
