Beautiful house with bonus features
We rented the Red House for the week of Thanksgiving, and chose it in part because it looked like a wonderful place to host a family Thanksgiving dinner (large dining room and full kitchen). The location was perfect, as it was a 15 minute drive from our daughter and son-in-law (and new grandson), and was within walking distance of restaurants. The neighborhood was full of lovely older homes and we took several walks to gawk at them. The kitchen was beautiful and we chose to cook and eat some of our meals at the house. We also enjoyed the outdoor area that provided a quiet and relaxing place to read and chat. We highly recommend this rental and would gladly stay there again.
Amazing and perfect home for Gainesville!
This home is beautifully decorated, clean, and comfortable for the entire family. Fully stocked kitchen and a great outdoor seating area to enjoy family and play games. Great location that is in walking distance to everything! Also, great parking and walk or Uber to any of the UF games. The communication with the host was wonderful and very accommodating. We will be back for sure anytime we come to Gainesville.
I'm so glad you enjoyed the location of the home- and it's such a great neighborhood! Thank you so much for letting me know that you had a perfect stay. I'll look forward to hosting you again the future!
Best Neighborhood in Gainesville!
We didn't come to Gainesville to cheer on the Gators at a football game or for a wonderful parents weekend celebration but to avail ourselves of the excellent medical care at Shands Hospital. My family needed a place to stay while my father was in the hospital, and a place he could come back to recuperate.
We are so lucky we found this charming little house. It was our home away from home for three weeks and every thing we needed was there to make our stay comfortable. The location close to downtown made it easy to get around Gainesville but the Duckpond is the most lovely and tranquil residential neighborhood. The house is really well appointed with all of the essentials and many of the comforts of home.
Susannah, the owner, lives right next door and was very hands on and helpful in fulfilling our needs. In the middle of our stay, we were caught up in one of Florida's worst disasters, Hurricane Irma, and she did everything she could to make sure we were safe and comfortable- she really went out of her way for us.
I would highly recommend this property and happily give it a five star rating!
The Red House
Very tranquil area of Gainesville, and not far from shops & UF.
I loved the furniture in the house and paintings. There is also a garden. You will feel right at home, it is very clean and quiet.
Excellent Gainesville Stay!
For Jan 1-March 31, 2017, my wife and I stayed in Palms 304 for approximately six weeks followed by the Red House (603018) for approximately six weeks. We found both rentals to be very comfortable and very well situated with respect to the downtown area. Both are within very reasonable walking distance of the old town restaurants and entertainment district including the Hippodrome. Parking is easily accessed for both properties and there is a city bus stop within a few hundred feet of the Palms with direct access to the University of Florida.
Both properties are extremely clean and very comfortably furnished. Both have full kitchen utensils including a Keurig coffeemaker at the house, a surprise that we enjoyed. Beds and pillows are very comfortable. The showers at both properties were first rate with rapid hot water and a strong water stream. We particularly appreciate this feature. The house has access to a very comfortable backyard and has a screened patio that we used for our morning coffee. We found the pictures on the website to be useful and accurate.
Of greatest importance to us is the attitude of the owner, Susannah, and her staff. They are all extremely friendly and most accommodating and helpful. Small problems inevitably arise over 12 weeks and they are almost immediate in resolving and fixing these issues. For example they helped to move us from the Palms to the house, highly appreciated! They took all the anxieties out of being away from home and truly made us feel as if we were at home. We have already reserved for next season and we hope to continue into the foreseeable future.
Hands Down Best in Gainesville
Upon arrival you can immediately relax. My parents came for the Holidays and it felt just like home to them. Everything is provided that you could possibly need. The outdoor cabana was one of our favorite hang outs. Lots of sunshine and relaxation! The home is immaculately clean and beautifully decorated. There are restaurants, bakeries and grocery stores within walking distance. The Thomas Center, a couple blocks away is a wonderful park setting and green space. Gainesville's newest Depot Park is within walking distance and close to downtown Gainesville,
The house is in a central location for downtown, the University, the hospitals, and nature attractions (La Chua Trail, Hawthorne Trail, Paynes Prairie).
