Our heavenly Tuscan vacation!
Our week at I’ll Faeto was everything and more! Fonzi and Enzo, hosts and owners are two of the most gratious and giving people. The meals they prepared for us were spectacular. The views were stunning! The pool was so refreshing! You could not find a better place to call home as you explore the wonders of Tuscany
Slice of heaven!
Our family of 8 arrived to Il Faeto after being in Rome and Amalfi coast for a week. The property was breathtaking, and we were so excited to spend a week at this lovely Tuscan villa. Where do I even begin? We were greeted immediately by Fonsi and Enzo, and instantly felt like we were "home". The kids played endlessly in the pool, while we were given spritzer drinks. We chose to have dinner the first night, and once we did that....we never wanted to eat anything else! Fonsi's meals were tremendous, and we felt so fortunate to have these 5 star meals! We chose to eat there every day, both breakfast and dinner. And, we also did a cooking class with Fonsi and her mom which was the best experience. Several people in our group did a hike from the property to town, and around to other surrounding towns. This will forever be one of the best experiences for our family! We walked away feeling like we gained "family" in Italy with Fonsi and Enzo. They were the best hosts and made our stay in Tuscany unforgettable!
Perfect family vacation
Our extended family of nine including children ages 1,6,and 8 really enjoyed our stay. The rooms are comfortable and each had a bathroom. The grounds were amazing and the pool well maintained. You do need a car to get to the sights but Florence is only about 40 minutes away. We did a cooking class with the owner, Fonsie, which was lots of fun. She made several incredible meals for us so it truly was a vacation. The owners are on site to address any concerns.
Inviting and magical! The perfect place to spend a week in Tuscany!
This was the trip that I had dreamed of for years........a week in Tuscany with our 2 adult daughters and their husbands. No grandchildren on this trip.......time to enjoy just relaxing with our daughters and son-in-laws that are so very busy taking care of their little ones. With 6 grandchildren 6 years old and under......this was a rare treat for all.
We could not have chosen a more perfect villa!!! From the time we drove up the winding road and reached the welcoming sign on the gate we knew we were in for treat. Both Fonsi and her husband Enzo greeted us in the front yard as we arrived. Il Faeto is perched on the top of a hill in the Chianti countryside. Every morning we woke up to see a beautiful view of the sunrise over the Arno Valley from our bedroom windows...stunning! After a day of touring the countryside it was great to come back in the late afternoons and evenings and sit by their beautiful pool or in the front yard that overlooks to valley........drink wine and relax....a memory etched in my mind forever.
We used the villa as our home base to take side trips to Florence, Siena, Volterra and many of the wonderful Chianti Classico Wineries in the area.
Fonsi is a superb true Tuscan cook. She owned an outstanding restaurant in Florence for almost 20 years, but decided she was tired of that very busy schedule and wanted to move to the countryside to concentrate her energy on creating beautiful spot to enjoy the magic of Tuscany.
We knew from the first night Fonsi cooked dinner for us that we wanted to start and end each day with her home cooked meals. The setting was relaxing and the food absolutely delicious! No worries on having to drive ourselves anywhere after having wine to drink. We also asked Fonsi to do a cooking class for the 6 of us......oh my.....it was wonderful!
Roses abound everywhere on the picturesque property. Her vegetable garden provides the freshest of ingredients for her meals along with an abundance of chickens that provide fresh eggs. daily. The property is outstanding, but it was the kindness of Fonsi, Enzo and Pedro, the dog that will stay in our memories forever. Thank you dear friends!
Awesome Stay at Il Faeto
We just spent a week at Il Faeto and it was an much better than we expected. The villa was as advertised with awesome views and in very good condition all around. The road to the villa is difficult to manuver, but once Fonsi showed us the way we had no trouble finding the road. The added surprise for us was finding what an excellent chef Fonsi was and we let her cook breakfast and dinner for us throughout our stay. It was so convenient to be able to stay in and have such a wonderful 4-5 course meal at a very reasonable price. I would definitely recommend this villa for anyone staying in the Tuscany area. It is very convenient to Florence, Siena, Pisa and all points in between. If you have never been to the area, I highly recommend a GPS because getting around this part of Italy is not an easy task.
Wonderful week in Tuscany
We spent a lovely week at the Villa. Fonsi does a great job with the food--she is a true Tuscan cook and used to run a restaurant in Florence. The other reviews are all correct on this. The rooms were clean and well kept. There are 2 apartments--one with 3 bedrooms and a small kitchen and living room area, one with 1 bedroom and larger kitchen. We were traveling with a group of 8 family members, including 2 kids, and there was plenty of room for everyone to sleep comfortably. Having Fonsi cook dinner at the Villa allowed us to spend our time exploring the Florence and surrounding area. She also did a cooking class on one of the days and the children loved seeing homemade pasta and pizza.
Fonsi and her husband Enzo live on the property. This had is positives and negatives. Having a wonderful home cooked breakfast and dinner on site every day was fantastic. However, there were times at which we felt a bit more privacy would have been better--some of her other family members were invited over to swim in the pool on a few of the days. Other small critiques would be a charge for each towel used at the pool--this seems unnecessary and leaves one feeling nickeled and dimed.
Would definitely recommend with a few minor critiques.
