Reviewer Comments:

We were elated on arrival to find the house and grounds even prettier than shown on the websites. The house does truly have a "lodge" aura, with the wood & stonework interior, floor to ceiling glass in the great room, expansive decking, covered hot tub, large game room etc. Everything was immaculately clean, and the beds were top notch quality. All the amenities (utensils, cooking hardware, etc.) were provided as advertised, except for trash bags & paper towels. The only problem was no live TV service until Day 6 of our stay, which turned out to be due to a bad central TV "box". The property management was very responsive in chasing the problem; the tech guys were just slow to figure it out. Otherwise the house was great, and a perfect location for relaxing and exploring Mt. Hood and the entire area!

Owner's Response: We are happy to hear that you had a great vacation at the Salmon River Lodge. We apologize about the TV not working for part of your visit; the cable company has resolved the issue and everything is now working. The extra paper towels are under the sink and the trash can liners are in the amenity basket on the kitchen counter. We trust you had fun exploring and adventuring around Mt Hood. See you next year!

Perfect Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

I didn't want to leave the Salmon River Lodge! We stayed there with 7 adults and two children under 5 and it was just so comfortable for all of us. The beds are super soft, the game room provided a great alternative hanging-out space, and having satellite TV in every bedroom was such a treat! We were amazed at how well equipped the kitchen was (there was a wok, slow cooker, and tupperware for leftovers), and loved the hot tub and free fire wood amenities. The location is peaceful, quiet, and beautifully situated on a river that's shallow enough for the kids to play in without fear. A great family vacation spot!

We came out with the extended family for my daughters wedding and wanted to stay a week to have some fun as well. We did that and more. The house was better than advertised as you just couldn't get the feel for how nice it was based only on the pictures. The house was fully stocked with the kitchen essentials so it made family dinners easy. There were more than enough pillows and towels for everybody there and the beds were more comfortable than my own. Sitting out on the deck was as tranquil as it gets with the stream flowing along and the deer coming by to visit in the afternoon. It was clean and every room had a big flatscreen TV for winding down after a busy day. It had an attached game room that was a nice touch along with the covered hot tub. There were so many family activities to do within a 20 minute drive that we couldn't even begin to get to them all, although we tried. On the downside, for a rental house with that many bedrooms and ability to sleep so many they only had 2 showers and the heads water pressure was terrible. There were several times that we had to grabs the wall to keep from slipping on the super slick floors of the showers. We also had a tough time deciding which couple would get the master bedroom as well due to the fact that it was so much better than the other bedrooms and with 2 families staying there, obviously 1 family would get the big room while the other had to settle for the smaller room. A little disappointed in the hot tub even as nice as it was as the temperature was not adjustable and it should've been set just a few degrees warmer That being said though we would definitely came back again for another visit as the place overall was beautiful.

This property was absolutely perfect for our 10 person group. We had several folks who were meeting for the first time, so the option for people to have separate rooms while still socializing in the generous common area was perfect. We spent one day hiking (great nearby access to plenty of trails) and a few additional days skiing up near Hood. The large garage was nice for drying out gear as well. Having the Salmon River in the backyard made for lovely nightcaps in the hot tub as well. I would stay here again!

Owner's Response: Now that your group are all friends, we recommend a summer visit to the Salmon River Lodge. You can enjoy your nightcaps around the firepit or on the river-facing deck after a BBQ. So glad to hear this was a great fit for you.

Eight of us stayed in the cabin for a work retreat, it was really lovely, clean, and perfect for what we needed. Loved the big table, cook area, and game room, and the beds were really comfortable!

Owner's Response: Salmon River Lodge is ideal for a work retreat with the multiple bedrooms, spacious great room and table and the extra space in the great room, just as long as the Salmon River and tall trees do not distract you too much. We are happy to hear this was a good retreat for you.
