A car is necessay
despite the weather we had a great time only negative thing was the house very far from the harbour and the beach and road was too busy and narrow to walk on. Anne an amazing caretaker little welcome package on arrival.
Good morning Marion Thank you for taking the time to write a review on Grange House. The house is in a beautiful spot, a car is needed as the road is a country road and can be very busy. Anne is brilliant and always on hand should you need her. Thank you again for your feedback. Kindest regards Maura
a good place to stay but further from the Quay than advertised
- there was a good welcome, some food in the fridge and the 'caretaker' came back with two missing bulbs - and said to phone if we needed anything. I was surprised she didn't come back herself at the end - especially as she was the named caretaker! - and so there was no agreement on how we left the place - in theory, she could say we'd broken something and we couldn't prove we hadn't [ rather far fetched but nevertheless, a reality ]
- Value for money - I don't know the comparable rates for the area. It was not good to have the electric as an extra - at a basic rate, regardless of what we'd used. It should have been on a meter if it was to be charged for separately.
There was a lack of some basic things, no chair in any bedroom and not a bedside lamp in by each bed.
not enough glasses for the advertised six people. Nothing with which to make coffee.
The garden was a bonus and the facility for sitting and eating there was good, but just two sun chairs.
- Location - the ad was deceptive - it would have been more helpful and realistic to say a car is essential as it is some distance - well over the 2km named - from the quay , walking on a road with no pavement.

Kilmore Quay has a reputation as an angling centre species of fish available include bass, cod, shark, tope, ling, mackrel, bream, pollock, skate and whiting. It is an amazing location for diving as the area from Hook Head to Carnesore Point has long been known as the graveyard of a thousand ships. The fishing harbour has the added attraction of a leisure marina which has added a new dimension to the south coast with a sailing school, angling, diving and boat trips.
