About Catherine Bailey
catherine bailey - owner/creative director Heath ceramics (just up the road from our property). We are a busy family of 3 people one Newfoundland dog and one cat. We travel for our work frequently and are often away on weekends. Thus the cottage is often exceptionally quite.
Catherine Bailey purchased this Cottage in 2001
Why Catherine Bailey chose Sausalito
The view and location! You can walk to the water and to town, and drive to San Francisco or the ocean in 10 minutes. Our weather is also beautiful, less wind and fog than in downtown Sausalito.
What makes this Cottage unique
Lots of character and history at this property combined with a quite residential location, with easy access to so much nature and culture.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Comfortable and Easy
The perfect size, location and view with all the comforts of home.
We couldn’t be happier.
A Magical Carriage House in Sausalito
This cottage/carriage house has every amenity,
is beautifully appointed, tastefully furnished with plenty of closet space and features a Heath Ware kitchen! It is its own separate unit on a large
property that over looks Richardson Bay and is an easy walk to the main street of Sausalito and all it has to offer — wonderful shops and restaurants.
And it is a minute away from San Francisco — by ferry or by car -- an easy and beautiful ride to the wine country of CA or costal communities ( Stinson Beach) in Marin County.
I was lucky to be a guest and cannot recommend it highly enough.
Has become a home away from home in the city by the bay....
This is our third stay at the cottage on Marie St over looking Richardson Bay. After being on the road for a few weeks; it was so good to open the door to that cozy feeling of comfort.
Thank you also to Julie R. from Kent, U.K. for the welcome note. Warm touch.
We enjoy being able to walk downtown to restaurants, sights, ferry or just walk up in the hills and explore to take pictures. The views can't be beat. We have gotten to even know the neighbors and have found some from back home.
Cathy, Robin and Jasper are wonderful down to earth people.
We promised ourselves an extended stay in California when we retired and this charming cottage was an excellent base for the first few weeks of our trip. It quickly felt like home and was in a great location for sightseeing. The natural beauty of the area completely won us over and we never tired of exploring the Marin Headlands and walking the many trails. Easy day trips included San Francisco, Point Reyes, Napa and Sonoma. Further afield we enjoyed two nights in Mendocino and a third in Fort Ross where the sunset and star gazing were truly magnificent. Closer to home we went to the excellent Mill Valley Arts Festival where we were treated to superb music amongst the redwoods - just magical. Do take the time to explore the hidden steps and paths of Sausalito and Mill Valley and you won't be disappointed. And finally, don't miss a tour of the Heath Ceramics factory just minutes from the cottage. You'll be using the crockery during your stay so go along and learn the history of the company and see how it's made! All in all a great stay - thank you.
Cottage full of charm in a great location
Our month stay in this cottage was a wonderful experience! It's only a short walk to many restaurants, shops and a great little beach. Various trails and wilderness areas are only a brief drive from the property. The ferry to San Francisco is nearby and once you arrive at the terminal in the city you have access to wide area via the BART subway system and other public transportation.
The cottage has a wonderful vintage feel and is very tastefully furnished and well equipped. The beautiful unobstructed view of the bay from both the living room and the outside patio is one of the highlights and never gets old.
We highly recommend this property!
What a great cottage, the view, furnishings and location were fabulous would highly recommend!
