Heath Ceramics - A local historic pottery is located in Sausalito one mile from the cottage, the pottery is open for tours on weekends and has a factory store.
You are about a 10 minute drive from San Francisco (Sausalito is at the edge of the Golden Gate Bridge). Rodeo Beach (Pacific Ocean), Muir Woods and the Headlands (Wonderful hiking, biking, surfing etc. are all less than a 15 minute drive away).
catherine bailey - owner/creative director Heath ceramics (just up the road from our property). We are a busy family of 3 people one Newfoundland dog and one cat. We travel for our work frequently and are often away on weekends. Thus the cottage is often exceptionally quite.
Catherine Bailey purchased this cottage in 2001
The view and location! You can walk to the water and to town, and drive to San Francisco or the ocean in 10 minutes. Our weather is also beautiful, less wind and fog than in downtown Sausalito.
Lots of character and history at this property combined with a quite residential location, with easy access to so much nature and culture.
My husband and I spent the month of May in this adorable cottage. We loved drinking our coffee in the morning while looking out over the harbor. It was so convenient to all the local restaurants and shops. We could be in San Francisco in fifteen minutes which was great since we went in often to visit our children and grandchildren. We especially enjoyed the patio. We would have drinks while watching the sunset. The cottage was fully equipped for a very comfortable stay. Cathy and her husband were great hosts and took care of all our needs. We thoroughly enjoyed our month in Sausalito
I just spent a month in this adorable cottage overlooking the Sausalito harbor. It was perfect in every regard. I was the "urban retreat" I sorely needed. Great walks. Great views. Cozy. So quiet and peaceful. Slept soundly and deeply. Loved the attention to detail. Loved hearing the sea lions chatting in the morning. Parking was easy. Did not want not want to leave. Looking forward to coming back again. Thank you!
Spent a wonderful three weeks in this charming cottage enjoying the views of the bay and San Francisco....easy access to SF and easy walking to all the great restaurants and cafés in Sausalito....will return....Cathy and robin were very helpful...can't beat the sunsets.....
My husband and I stayed for a month in this sweet cottage overlooking the bay. It was an easy walk to many restaurants (Fred's for breakfast is a must) and the grocery. The cottage is nicely furnished and fully stocked for cooking and laundry and general day to day living. Sausalito was everything we had envisioned and more. One or two people will really enjoy staying here.
The scent of the honeysuckle vine lingers by the door along with wonderful views of moored boats in Richardson Bay and the Tiburon hills in the distance. Sausalito and the Bay Area offer many wonderful things to see and do but it is 7 Marie St. that tops them all! The cottage is comfy-cozy and very quiet, decorated with attention to detail as Heath Ceramics are displayed throughout with some wonderful vintage furniture. Robin and Cathy are warm, friendly and helpful. My only wishes are to keep this "special spot" a secret and to return very soon!
This vintage cottage, with an untiring view of Richardson Bay, is warm, comfortable, quiet and conveniently located. Cathy and Robin, the owners, are wonderful, sincere people make you feel completely welcome. They own and operate Heath Ceramics based in Sausalito and a tour of the business is a must. We stayed at the cottage for the month of July. While we had a car, the walk to most restaurants, food stores and coffee shops was pleasant. The weather was outstanding and perfect for hiking the Muir forest and beach areas not far from the cottage. The Golden Gate Bridge and State Park are very close and the view crossing the bridge awe-inspiring. Make it a point to check out the "Bay Model", Dipsea Restaurant and shops on Caledonia St. During the summer months, the Friday night music in Gabrielson Park is a perfect "taste of Sausalito". On short drives from the cottage, we explored Napa and Sonoma Wineries, Marin Shakespeare Theater and of course the GIANTS. The cottage is a perfect base for runners and cyclists. With Mike's Bikes (rentals and every thing you need outdoors), 1/2 mile from the cottage, you have the Mill Valley/ Sausalito trails and Tiburon trail. You have to catch the short ferry ride to Angel Island for some wonderful history, fantastic views of SF and the GGB. We took day trips to Monterey, Carmel, Capitola and Santa Cruz. We took in some shows at the Shoreline Ampitheater in Mountainview (be prepared to wait in some traffic) and had a blast on the Redwood Canopy tours (Zip lining the redwoods - awesome!) The cottage is so close to SF, we frequently walked to the Sausalito ferry, enjoyed the "big city by the Bay" and returned to the soft, cool breezes of Sausalito as the sun was going down. We would recommend the cottage to anyone who wants to relax and enjoy the Bay area and more.
