Family friendly chalet, superbly equipped and with fantastic views

A modern, self catering Chalet on the Alpage de Thyon. At 1900m altitude, it is usually ski-in ski-out via pathways between neighbouring chalets. East facing with superb views to North, East and South, overlooking quiet woodland area with cross-country ski trail. Excellent local ski area, with nearest piste and lift (a high speed quad chair) only 400m away, that links to the Verbier/4 Vallée ski area.

Highlights: Outdoor hot tub and Sauna; Satellite broadband.

In excellent order throughout, the main entrance on the ground floor, with porch and cloakroom, leads to a generous living area with leather sofas, TV, DVD and audio system, log burning stove and 2 doors out to the main balcony. The adjoining dining area has a large table for 10 people. The open plan kitchen has an island with ceramic hob and breakfast bar, as well as a door to the balcony. There are high quality electrical appliances with oven and microwave, and a large fridge/freezer. Top quality crockery (Villeroy & Boch), glassware and cutlery – sufficient for 10 place settings.

On the upper floor, there is a double bedroom and a 2 bed bunk bedroom, shower room and a gallery area with double sofa bed and cot. A door leads out to the upper balcony.

Downstairs has 2 double bedrooms, shower room, sauna and utility/laundry room with heated boot rack. Door leading to lower garden area and top quality six seater hot tub.

Heating is by electric underfloor heating, which provides a very comfortable temperature throughout the chalet and the log burning stove provides a super cosy glow if required.

The whole Chalet has fantastic views of the Dent Blanche and surrounding Valais Alps.

Just returned from another gr8 week of ski and snowboard fun. This property made it even more enjoyable. The ski in ski out location was so good we lunched there most days and cooked in several evenings. The property is so well equipped that it made it a pleasure to live in. The rooms are spacious, the location is gr8 for the slopes and the local village which is well equipped with shops, bakery, restaurants etc. The hot tub at the house was also very welcome to come home to after a day on the mountains and was big enough for 8 adults to fit in comfortably. The drying room for all our ski gear was also welcomed so we didn't have wet stuff hanging all over the house. The showers in the bathrooms are high pressured and there is a limitless supply of hot water. All in all a great holiday in a great property.

A place to chill in the Alpine Summer

This is forth or fifth time we stayed at Chalet Les Alouettes in the early Summer...but who is counting. It is up on an mountain side, an idyllic setting with commanding views! Even from the hot tub you are surrounded but mountain peaks and dark dark skies for evening 'tubbing' The Chalet has everything you need to make the perfect hideaway or energetic break. The owners make this the easiest of rentals and have thought of everything to help you. We love mountain walking and this place puts us in the heart of fantastic rambling trails...we'll be back again and again. Johnny & Meredith.

Lovely chalet, lovely place

Had a great time celebrating two significant and high numbered birthdays with close family. Generally great weather and did lots! Chalet is extremely well equipped and in and excellent position high up above the Rhone Valley. Perfect.

Excellent base for...anything!

Chalet is in a truly excellent location for just about anything outdoorsish...walking, running, biking and obviously skiing. The opportunities are almost limitless. The views from the balcony (and the hot tub) are to die for.

The chalet itself is wonderfully kitted out with nothing left wanting and the hot tub and sauna just top things off.

Hopefully we'll be back.

What a great place

The chalet was immaculately clean, the views stupendous, the locals friendly, the food superb, the walking great, the opportunity to relax, take time out, smell the coffee, enjoy good times with friends, relax in the hot tub,

someone had to do it!! We did.

relaxed hollidays in a great chalet

Great chalet, a very kind landlord, stunning nature and a beautiful ski region. It's probably the best chalet I've ever been. After a sunny day in the snow, you can almost ski to the front door of the chalet, jump in the pool and enjoy afterwards the sauna and a relaxed evening in front of the fireplace. We've had great hollidays!

Lovely chalet in a great skiing area

We spend our winter holiday already for many years in this chalet, always with two families, 4 adults and 4 kids. It is really a great place with very secure snow conditions (even in mild winters like this year), very closed to the slopes, an amazing skiing area with really everything, not crowded even in the high season and last but not least a lovely chalet where you can enjoy cozy winter evenings in the family playing games. The kitchen leave no wish open for a large group including raclette and fondue. Also great for daily recovery are the Sauna and the hot tub. We really enjoy this place since you can just switch off from everyday life and feel the mountain atmosphere.

Les Alouettes is located on the Alpage de Thyon, close to the mountain village of Les Collons, in a small group of chalets beside the ski slopes and walking trails. The quiet village has shops, restaurants, bars, ski school and rental, post, bus, and tourist information. There are plenty of activities for winter and summer, including skiing, mountain biking, walking, sightseeing and the charming historic town of Sion is only 20 km away with swimming pools and other sports facilities.

Ski: At 1900 metres, Les Alouettes is situated close to the start of the Etherolla chair and above the start of the Trabanta chair. So the local slopes and chair lifts are easily accessible - 'Ski in, ski out' from the house is usually possible for intermediate skiers in good snow conditions. Otherwise it is a 400 metre walk down the road to the nearest piste. The Thyon/Les Collons area links in to the wonderful, snow-sure skiing area of the 4 Valleys with over 400 km slopes - a skiing and snowboarding paradise. There is skiing for all levels, from beginners to experts, with a good local ski school and runs for all levels in the local area. High-alpine ski-touring and cross-country are all within easy reach.

Summer activities:

The area of the four valleys is a fantastic area for hiking, mountain biking, horse riding and touring.

Mountain biking: A huge variety of local trails and small paths are rideable from Thyon at 2100m down to Sion at 500m. Further afield there are a multitude of fantastic touring routes, in the local valleys, the Verbier circuit and at other Valais ski areas. Several purpose built trail centres, like Crans-Montana, are within 1-2 hours’ drive.

Golf: An outstanding 18-hole golf course in Sion. Also the internationally renowned course in Crans-Montana.

Wine growing region and local produce: Between Martigny and Sierre, you can sample many great wines, produced in small local vineyards.

The Valais region is proud of its local food products. Locally produced and delicious cheese, fruit and meats, are available in the shops and restaurants.
