Maunaloa Shores is located in Keaukaha in the heart of a great recreational area but less than 10 minutes from downtown Hilo with shopping, entertainment, and restaurants. Keaukaha spans about 4 miles with parks and a variety of swimming lagoons, some of which are calm enough for toddlers year-round. It's a perfect location for a holiday stay or if you are in town for a temporary assignment.
This 2-bedroom, 5th-floor Maunaloa Shores condo is a desirable end unit with wonderful views of the magnificent trees at Carlsmith Park as well as views of the lagoons and the ocean beyond. You will also enjoy views of Mauna Kea and Pu'u O'o, the active vent of Kilauea volcano. You can enjoy these views from your own private lanai (balcony), from the living area, and also from the large master bedroom. If you must work while visiting, the condo has a desk in the master bedroom with a telephone. We also provide free high-speed Internet.
501 has a beautiful, fully equipped, upgraded kitchen with custom cabinets, recessed lighting, and marble countertops. A tiled mural provides a feeling of privacy and enhances the beauty of the kitchen. Enjoy the convenience of dining at the counter or enjoy your morning cup of coffee on the lanai. The picturesque setting is a nice way to start your day in the quiet of the morning dawn.
When you're ready to go swimming, you can swim in the large pool at Maunaloa Shores or swim and snorkel next door at Carlsmith Park. The park is a popular place to get into the water because of the protected lagoons. You may even want to have a picnic.
The living room has island-style furnishings, cable TV, a VCR/DVD player, and mini-stereo with radio and CD player. The condo is tiled throughout, which is most suitable for Hawaii's tropical climate.
Enjoy a good night's rest on the high quality queen mattresses in both bedrooms. If you enjoy reading in bed, you'll appreciate the lamps on each side of the bed. The upgraded bathroom has a combination tub/shower with beautiful, artistic tiles.

Lovely condo next to a beautiful beach park.
We truly enjoyed our stay! Perfect 5th floor condo with everything you need for a comfortable stay. We really loved the chairs on the balcony and the gorgeous view! Thank you so much.
I liked everything about the condo. My husband would have liked more TV channels. He missed golf.

Very poorly maintained
We went to the condo looking forward to comfort and ease of stay.
First obstacle was the WORN OUT KEY BOX. Had to really wrangle it to get the keys out. Actually called the manager who came right away and was most helpful.
Went up to the condo and oh my!! Very shabby. Worn upholstery,all blinds were broken stayed up or down. We’re tied up with string!!
Windows would not slide shut.
Kitchen faucet was totally broken. Once put on would not shut off.
Bath towels and rug were so worn even good will will refuse.
No bath soap.
Bedside lamp did not have a bulb.
No hangers in closet
Fan was broken.
Kettle in kitchen was so worn and old I was worried about using it.
In short this condo was a NIGHTMARE.
Could not wait to get out and home. Our entire stay was ruined.
More so because it rained non stop in Hilo for the 3 days we were there and the windows let in water and cold air because it could not be closed
Also there were no blankets

We appreciated you letting us know about the broken faucet so we could send someone right away to fix it. We are hoping that the condo management association will eventually replace the sliders and windows in the building. The proximity to the ocean does take a toll and makes them a bit difficult to operate. The condo is definitely not fancy or recently upgraded, but the price reflects that and most guests do find it a good value for the money. We are so sorry that these cosmetic issues had such a major impact on your visit.

the unit is old but a good part of it had been remodeled.
the management company was not available at the time I arrived at 4:30 Hawaii time. I had difficulty getting my key to work in the elevator and the directions I was given did not match any of the keys out of the lock box. The lock boxes are crowded on the bar and not easy to get opened. The furniture is comfortable and the kitchen is well furnished.
We're so sorry that you'd called right at our closing time, but we got back to you quickly and provided access to the keys in another unit's lock box. We were very relieved when you called back to report that, after looking at the other unit's keys, you'd identified the elevator key and found that it was working after all. We've never had an elevator key stop working, and they are very expensive to replace, so we were concerned ;-) We're so glad that you enjoyed the unit and hope your anniversary trip to Hilo was everything you'd hoped it would be!

Rates are based on a party of 2; additional guests are are $10 each per night plus tax. There is a cleaning fee of $120. Extended stays require a monthly cleaning fee. All reservations require a non-refundable $35 damage protection plan and Hawaii taxes of 14.416% We accept major credit cards for payment. We require a 25% deposit to confirm, with the balance due 90 days before arrival. Reservations arriving within 90 days are due in full at the time of booking.
