Cozy cabin in the woods. This A-frame cabin is conveniently located within city limits, but sits in the pines for a woodsy feel. The home has an upstairs loft bedroom with a queen size bed. About Christine Kersen

My husband Joe has lived in Ouray since 1977. I moved there in 1995 and instantly fell in love with the town. We ran a Construction company from 1997 to 2012 when my husband decided to finish his education and obtain his LPN license. I have been a real estate broker since 2007 and we have 5 great kids. We moved to Montrose in 2013 to be closer to work. Luckily Ouray is not a far drive and we still enjoy seeing all of our friends and family in the area.

Christine Kersen purchased this cabin in 2005

Very good experience

  • 5 of 5

Very good experience. Cabin is exactly as advertised and very comfortable to stay in while experiencing Ouray. Picked Ouray because of its location and elevation within the San Juans. Came from tucson to see some snow and got a foot on the way in coming through the mountains. Downside is a little too far to walk to town in winter and close proximity to neighbors but an excellent location to appreciate the scenery and the mountains at a great price. Ouray is unique and has a large selection of restaurants and bars and gift shops to explore. Telluride is a must do day trip if for nothing more than the drive and the gondola, but also the skiing. Orvis ten minutes up the road has outdoor hot spring spas clothing optional and open to the public for a 15 dollar fee which was a good find. Plan to return in the future and would hope to book again if traveling with pets and hoping to do some skiing.

Anniversary weekend

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful weekend at the cozy cabin! We wanted a place that was secluded but close enough to walk to Main Street. This place was it! Wonderful walk along the river to the Ouray brewery and Mouses (our fav spots). The place was very cozy and had all of the essentials. Christine was very responsive and wonderful to work with. Thanks Christine!

Great mountainside location right near Town

  • 4 of 5

A frame cabin is in great location. We walked along the river to the hot springs pool each morning and night. Cabin has plenty of space for family of three. Fully equipped kitchen to make meals. Loved Ouray...our new favorite Colorado spot.

Nice A-Frame in the Alpine.

  • 4 of 5

Clean, quiet and comfortable.

All owner contact was very positive.

I would stay again. It was perfect size for a couple.

Previous reviews pointed out issues with stairs to the loft but we are active seniors and had no problems.

Would have liked to have had a fire in stove but it was not cold enough.

Ouray is an amazing place to enjoy the high elevation back country.

If in town don't miss Maggies Burgers washed down with Mr Grumpy Pants beer from next door.

Quiet, convenient, quaint

  • 5 of 5

The Elkhorn was a wonderful, quiet place to spend a few nights and explore the Ouray area. A very few minutes away from the hustle-bustle of town, it was easy to locate and had ample parking. Both the loft bed and the sofa sleeper were comfy, the kitchen had adequate supplies, and the bathroom was nice and clean. Christine was a great host, responsive to all communication, and our damage deposit was promptly refunded upon checkout. We'd definitely stay here again!
