1 bedroom, 1 bath condo with easy slope access
Danny spent a few bachelor years living here full time. Michelle tried to live in Girdwood, but couldn't handle the daily commute to Anchorage. It's been a ski locker/weekend get away since we bought a house in Anchorage in 2005. We still get out to Girdwood every chance we get, and if you aren't using the condo, chances are we will be. Check out Michelle's glass art & jewelry in the Girdwood Center for Visual Arts gallery next to The Bake Shop while you're out too!
Michelle purchased this Condo in 2001
Why Michelle chose Girdwood
Girdwood is a laid back little ski town all year long. It's just far enough from Anchorage to get away from the hustle and bustle and has easy access to winter and summer activities. Downhill skiing at Alyeska is the biggest draw, but there are wonderful Nordic ski trails and lots of hiking & mountain biking opportunities too. Girdwood definitely has character. Walk to The Bake Shop, GCVA gallery, La Bodega for wine or to fill your growler, or Jack Sprat. Walk, bike or grab the shuttle to the hotel or downtown. Winter Creek Trail is a local favorite for waterfalls and a hand tram across the creek.
What makes this Condo unique
Location, location, location. It's one of the best locations for ski access in Girdwood. Chair 3 is just above us & perfect access for families with kiddos (or beginners like Michelle). Take Chair 3 up and ski down to either the tram or Chair 4 to reach the rest of the mountain.

Must stay for Girdwood!
We loved our stay here! The place is very nice with recent upgrades and little touches you dont get with all rentals. the location is incredible; located close to some of the best restaurants, the bike trail and the base of the mountain. Michelle was very easy to get ahold of and event made it super easy for us to extend our stay another day. Overall a wonderful property and a great place to stay and explore everything that Girdwood has to offer!
Well-appointed condo in a great location
This is a nicely remodeled condo steps from the base of Chair 3. The kitchen has everything you need to make a gourmet meal, and the bathroom is large and well stocked. It is a great value too, the price was less than comparable condos that we have rented in the past.
Great location, Great layout, Wonderful place, Fabulous stay!
Clean, great location
We had a relaxing stay at this condo. Excellent location for all seasons, but will be especially good for winter - chair lift just a short walk away. Close to Bake Shop and Jack Sprat. Very clean, nice furniture and was fully stocked with all amenities that we needed/wanted, including a nice TV with cable and DVD player, and wireless. The owner is very responsive and helpful. The only reason it isn't 5 stars is the location on the ground floor - you can occasionally hear the tenants walking back and forth upstairs. I would give it a 4 3/4 stars if I could, as this only detracted slightly from the overall experience.
We're so glad you enjoyed your stay. The building was built in the 1960's and the construction isn't ideal. We especially hear noise from the 2nd floor in the winter when it's busy and people are walking with ski boots on. It's annoying sometimes, but not a problem generally. Guests should always let us know if the person directly above us is noisy and preventing you from enjoying using our condo, because it's an Alyeska hotel employee unit, and we can contact hotel security to ask them to quiet down.
This is the first time I've ever used a rental property and it won't be the last
This condo was fantastic. Tastefully refurbished, awesome location, and turnkey amenities. Michelle was very prompt to respond to all emails when any questions arose. I will definitely stay at this location if I plan to stay in the area in the future.
Wonderful Owner -- Property Shows Pride of Ownership - Great Location
***Wonderful Owner -- Property Shows Pride of Ownership - Great Location***
Normally, we stay at the Resort. This time, we wanted to get a "local" feel and have the option of preparing our own meals, so we booked this rental.
1.) The Owner -- Incredibly responsive, professional and darling. Michelle bent over backwards to ensure we had a pleasant stay.
2.) The Condition / Decor of Property -- Clean and modern with thoughtful touches throughout. > The kitchen is fully stocked with pots and pans, dishes, silverware, mugs, stemware, and all the accoutrements (coffee maker, mixer, butcher block knives, etc) one might have in their own home.
> The living room is comfortable and cosy with windows looking out to the small deck/entrance and trees.
> There's a good size TV for morning news, ambient music (provided on the upper stations) and evening movies curled up on the couch.
> The bedroom is a little den with nice lay out -- two bedside tables, adequate lighting and storage for clothes/belongings.
> The bathroom is bright and spotless. The towels are fluffy and there's enough room for two people to comfortably get ready for the day/night.
3.) The Location -- Walking distance to everything (Town Center, Mountain, Trails, Resort, Restaurants/Cafes/Bars.)
Due to the structural design, excessive movement and activity from upstairs can be heard from this property. This was not really an issue the first night, but the second night, it began to escalate and impede on Husband's sleep. . . But(!), the owner was immediately responsive and the noise situation was quickly handled and resolved. :)
Reach Girdwood via a breathtaking 40 minute drive down Turnagain Arm from Anchorage. Summer hiking & mountain biking at Alyeska Resort, dog sled rides on the glacier or in Moose Meadows, Girdwood Center for Visual Arts, and wonderful local restaurants are just feet from our slopeside condo.
