I am a gardener and garden designer. I bought this property in 2009 and began renovating the three cottages.Lower Cottage is the second to be renovated and I live in the apartment on the end.
Owner purchased this Cottage in 2009
Why Owner chose Garndolbenmaen
Garreg Gron is a place apart and I have tried to capture this sense of retreat and sanctuary in the renovations. We are close to all the amenities here but also quiet and tranquil too. It is reached along a seldom-used tarmacced track that is used mainly by horseriders and dog walkers.
What makes this Cottage unique
Separate entrance and parking. Long views to the west with breathtaking sunsets behind the mountains and extinct volcanoes of the Llyn peninsula. Step back in time without losing any of the modern day facilities you would come to expect from a high quality renovation.

Comfortable, cosy cottage in beautiful location.
Excellent! Very quiet position with beautiful view and equipped with everything you need to relax and enjoy North Wales.
Very helpful landlord.
Wonderful place, great views.
This is a character cottage away from the road, overlooking Cardigan Bay. Comfortable and well equipped, very quiet at all times, especially at night. Wood burner in the lounge, lots of reading material, free WiFi and, if it’s important to you, a good 4G phone signal (for O2 at least). A great place to stay for exploring the Llyn peninsula (don’t miss the Llyn...it’s like going back in time) and to climb Snowdon from one of the western (and quieter) paths, like Rhys Ddu. We self catered (well...we took prepared meals...there is a freezer and a sharing cupboard) so I can’t comment on places to eat out. But Porthmadog and Criccieth are just up the road. Don't miss Criccieth. It is wonderful. Finally, Mark the host is everything you could want. Friendly and helpful, with lots of interesting conversation. We will be recommending this place to our friends.
Great contemporary design inside, Welsh rustic outside—perfect!
Extraordinary development of an old stone cottage: delightful exterior presentation leads into an imaginative and intelligent modernisation of the interior ... without losing the sense of the original building. The host couldn't be more unobtrusively available and willing to discuss or assist on anything to make the visit comfortable, charming and restful. Everything in Snowdonia is in easy access from Criccieth seashore to Yr Widdfa’s summit. I've B&B'd around the world and this little cottage is one of my favourites! Well done Mark!!!
Perfect stay for two in the mountains
My boyfriend and I recently stayed at Mark's cottage when we visited Snowdonia. The cottage is very homely, and the log burner gave it a very cosy feel. It has everything you need - plenty of logs, kitchen utensils, and Mark made sure we had some milk and basic ingredients upon arrival. It was great to wake up to views of the surrounding countryside - it was so peaceful. It is in a fantastic location - near to all the lovely towns such as Caernarfon, Beddgelert and Llanberis. Also, it is great for hikers as it is only a short drive to the starting points of Mount Snowdon such as Rhyd Ddu. Mark is very welcoming and ensures you have everything you need. I highly recommend this cottage for couples in particular, looking for a peaceful, homely place to stay. Thank you Mark - we are already planning our next visit here!
Emma and Callum were super guests: warm, friendly, appreciative and very considerate. They made themselves at home and were very competent with the logburner too. I very much hope to welcome them back in the future!
