A fine house in fine rura...

A fine house in fine rural surroundings, yet only 2km from Boulogne's out-of-town commercial centre (out of sight over the hills). The willing, generous and friendly support from those who run the house is exceptional. It is comfortable to have all services included in the price, and there are logs aplenty for the sitting-room fire. The house has space, elegance and a quite remarkable feel. You do not get neat rows of cupboards up and down in the kitchen, and the selection of crockery is a little unconventional. Improbably for rural France you drink out of mugs and not bowls, nor yet tea-cups. What you do get is style and a wonderful kitchen for family living. The little approach road is rocky, and very low-slung cars might find it awkward, but we negotiated it in conditionsof heavy snow.

charming house with splendid views

Le Hère is a very charming longhouse on a quiet hill side with splendid views. The kitchen has everything a cook desires. The salons are nicely decorated and one has a great fire place for chilly evenings. Most bedrooms are very spacious. Good to know: the only toilets are in the two bathrooms. Hikes can start just outside the gate, but you can also enjoy the scenery (and wildlife such as rabbits and deer) from a lazy chair in the garden. We had a wonderful, almost tropical week in Pas de Calais.

The holiday home is very comfortable, and the sight is amazing. The rooms are spacious, bathroom space is limited but has enough comfort for the short time being there. The access road is very rough, watch out with your car, but has the advantage that there is no passage of cars otherwise. Only farmers pass to get to their land. Children can play in the garden, and also in the house, there is enough space to run around. Kitchen is basic, but you can do the job. Storage in fridge is a bit small if with 11 persons to feed. In conclusion, we had a really great stay, the house is grand, and the area is superb for walks. It is also very close to the seaside.

A large pleasant house wi...

A large pleasant house with wonderful views. Very old and characterful. The only problem was that we had to bring our own sheets and towels - not ideal on the train from England! Everything else lovely.

Un week-end paradisiaque

Avec ses jolies tourelles et ses murs végétalisés aux couleurs automnales, la maison toise fièrement la vallée. Et qu'elle a raison d'être fière ! Son enfilade de pièces lumineuses, sa spacieuse cuisine qui tient lieu de carrefour de vie, ses salons chaleureux et ses chambres confortables en font un nid douillet duquel on ne veut plus partir. Et quand on arrive à s'en extraire à regrets, on découvre une région verdoyante et une côte à couper le souffle. Nous espérons bien revenir. Merci encore !
