Really nice house great located
House was very clean and well equipped. Only a few minutes to walk to the center. We can recommend it
10 mins to the Sea, 45 mins to Izmir, 1.5 h drive away from Ephesus, Bergama & Virgin Mary's house, Alacati is a very charming town located on the Cesme peninsular on Turkey's beautiful Aegean coast. Overlooked by a row of stone windmills, the town's cobbled streets are lined with stone houses, shops and tavernas, open-air cafes and very charming restaurants. The shops sell local crafts, jewellery and antiques. Alacati Bay has become Turkey's top wind-sport location thanks to it's protected, shallow water and strong, reliable wind. It is an established destination for kite-boarders and windsurfers from across Europe and a venue for international competitions, which attract thousands of spectators each summer. There are many interesting sights and great beaches in the area and plenty of other things to do. At night, there are nightspots to suit all tastes, from friendly tavernas to slick cocktail bars, with a selection of nightclubs and beach bars open until dawn nearby. In summer, Alacati is popular with Turkish & now getting to be known internationally.
If your understanding of an 'amazing visit' is to swim and do all kinds of water sports, or just relax strolling around in the old vineyards, or walk around on the shining cobble stones and discover a surprise around every corner of an old town, or talk to the locals, or even sit in an old coffee house to read your favorite book or daily paper, then Alaçati is definitely for you.
Windurfing & Many other activities
Located on Cesme Peninsula, opposite the Greek island Chios, Alacati is the perfect surf spot in the Turkish Aegean Sea. Who doesn't dream of racing over flat, turquoise water with constant wind?
This is a great place for windsurfing especially for those who are beginners or brushing up on their technique.
Izmir is only couple of hours flight away, and the transfer to Alacati only takes one hour.
Alacati is known as the 'St. Tropez of Turkey' and its' historical town with numerous cafés and terraces is very appealing. In nearby Cesme, several shops and boutiques invite you to shop to your hearts content!
Why not take a relaxing hot bath in thermal springs after an exhausting and busy day windsurfing?
Culture & Visit Historical Sites
In case the wind machine takes a break and you are interested in culture as well as sports, many famous places can be easily reached from here: The ancient ruins of Ephesus (site of one of the seven wonders of the ancient world), the hot springs of Pamukkale (hot springs, white calcium rocks, museum, carpets), Bergama (old Pergamum museum, historic site), Virgin Mary's house, the ruins of Hierapolis and strolling the seaside cafes of Izmir all nearby.
Cycling, diving, fishing, windsurfing, and bird-watching also are some of the activities you could do in the area.
The area between Izmir and Cesme was declared a 'natural heritage region' in 1985, because of its importance as a vital stop for migratory birds. May is the best month for bird-watching.
