About Krista Tremonti

We are originally from southern Michigan. We moved to Alden in 1998 to start our own businesses and raise our 3 children in this charming, small town up north where we spent our own childhood vacations. We love this area and how it has shaped our family. We live on 5 acres nearby the Farm House. The Farm House has been a very heart felt renovation project for us that we hope to own, share with our family & rent to new found friends for generations to come! Phil & Krista

What makes this farmhouse unique

Although completely renovated, we think you will love the charm that still resides in our Farm House. We worked hard to keep the special details you would expect from an early 1900's home. Notice the solid wood counter tops we constructed from the original ceiling joists we removed in order to create flat ceilings in the house. A large piece of the past preserved and certainly celebrated!

Charming old farmhouse with new amenities

  • 5 of 5

We had made a last-minute decision at the beginning of December to take a ski trip with another family for New Years' weekend. There was very little left to choose from, and so we were very grateful when we found this farmhouse. Our only concern was that it was not as close to Shanty Creek Resort as we would have liked and that two of our kids would have to sleep on their cots. However, the sleeping arrangements turned out fine, and it only took about 15 minutes to get to the slopes. We were all impressed with how beautifully the house has been remodeled- the pictures on the website don't do it justice! My husband and I especially loved the sleep number bed upstairs! The house would be a little cramped for two families, but this was not a real issue as we spent our days away from the house anyway. It was nice and cozy in the evenings when we returned to play games. The owners lived right next door and were very helpful with plowing the driveway when it snowed and getting us a big stock pot when we needed it to make dinner.

Excellent!

  • 5 of 5

I rented the farmhouse for Ladies Book Club overnight trip and it was perfect. The farmhouse is quaint but modern, clean, and had everything we needed for the 6 of us. The ladies loved it so much they want to stay 2 nights next fall so they can spend more time at the house. Krista was a pleasure to work with and was always quick to respond to any questions. Would highly recommend!

Impressive home and location for guys gone fishing week.

  • 5 of 5

It worked great for our bunch of fisherman, and their young sons. Very Clean, and orderly. Thanks for the walk thru when we arrived, and explanation of how things worked. We enjoyed the firepit nightly, plenty of parking, place to plug boats in, and we felt very secure. We will be back.

Beautifully remodeled vacation home!

  • 5 of 5

Krista and Phil Tremonti have done a fabulous job remodeling this old farmhouse. Beautifully done with a lot of attention to detail. Terrific craftmanship is evident throughout with excellent design choices. House is beautiful! The farmhouse sits on a wonderful piece of property with a spacious backyard that includes a fire pit surrounded by wooden lawn chairs. 3 bedrooms and 3 baths that easily accommodated our family of 5. Close to the town of Alden. Krista and Phil are wonderful hosts who made sure that the home was well-stocked. They seemed to think of everything and were very responsive whenever we needed anything. Highly recommended for any family that doesn't need to be right on the lake.

A HomeAway From Home

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at the Farmhouse in Alden was exactly what we were looking for. It allowed us to get some much needed rest and relaxation during our week there. At first glance it seems out of the way, but it is absolutely not! 1 mile from Torch Lake, 1/2 hour to Traverse City, 1 1/2 hour to Mackinac Island and really close to Charlevoix, Petosky, and Harbor Springs. Quiet, comfortable and a really well done restoration make this place, absolutely perfect. We even hosted a dinner party for our friends from TC and had a fantastic time. Plenty of space in the house and on the 10 acres to really feel like you are Away From It All, but cozy enough to feel like you're Home. Phil and Krista, met us, handed off the keys, gave a quick tour and made themselves available if needed. Having been in the area before, we didn't bother them, but loved the fact that they had such an interest in making sure we were taken care of while staying there. Bikes and bonfires, kitchens and wifi, chairs on the front AND back porch...all this so far in the country, but so close to town...it was awesome.

Welcome to the Farm House

  • 5 of 5

The house had everything you'd ever need! It is beautifully updated, and every room was comfortable and wonderful. Only downside for me was the lack of internet, which when compounded with the spotty phone service in the area made keeping updated with others difficult. Some might find that to be a positive though, and it didn't put a damper on the weekend. Phil and Krista were always a quick phone call away if we ever needed anything (even though we never did!).
