Welcome to Bainbridge Island! We are happy to share our cozy little cottage with visitors from near and far who come to find out what island living is all about! Just a beautiful 35 minute ferry ride from downtown Seattle and a short 3 mile drive or cab ride from the Bainbridge Ferry terminal, leave your mainland worries behind and come stay in this quaint, well-cared-for 1930s farmer's cottage. The views of Mount Rainier and Puget Sound from all the rooms in the house are soothing and spectacular. Bed is a full-sized bed (smaller than a queen) due to room size restrictions. A cot is also available with advance notice. Enjoy fresh-brewed Pacific Northwest coffee every morning as you watch the eagles soar over the Bay, then go for a walk along Manitou Beach, just a 2 minute stroll down the hill. Head to island favorite Bay Hay & Feed for morning coffee, pastries and conversation, just 8 minutes away, and while you’re there check out their amazing plants, garden supplies, and general store.
The Northwest is meant to be moist, so if it's raining you can hole up in the cottage with board games or a movie, but if you're adventurous (or you come in the summer, and it's gorgeous) grab a complimentary umbrella and head out to explore all the island has to offer. The Bloedel Reserve or Bainbridge Gardens will delight with their botanical wonders. Sample some of our seven island wineries or spend the day checking out the art galleries and shops along Winslow Way. In the evening, enjoy dinner in Winslow or nearby Lynwood Center, pick up some amazing Italian take-out from nearby Via Rosa (1/2 mile from the cottage), or make a meal in our cozy but well-stocked kitchen. At night meet up with friends at one of the island pubs, enjoy a movie at one of the two island cinemas, or hit the blackjack table or dance floor at nearby Suquamish Clearwater Casino, just across the Agate Pass Bridge connecting the island to the Kitsap Peninsula.
Speaking of the Peninsula, use Bainbridge as your home base while you explore surrounding Northwest favorites like Poulsbo (aka Little Norway on the Fjord), Port Gamble’s with its 1850s logging town activities, Port Townsend with its historic Victorian charm and the amazing Olympic National Forest.
We grew up in Memphis, TN and Seattle, WA but we have lived on Bainbridge Island since 2003 and just love it here. Our kids are getting older so we're planning to down-size eventually, possibly to this lovely property. In the meantime we're happy to share it with visitors so they can come to love this place like we do.
Andrea Chymiy purchased this cottage in 2014
Close to the beach, full sun, right in the middle of the island, close to everything - what more could you ask for?
- Beautiful view of Mt. Rainier & the water
- Lots of sun
- SO close to the beach. Nice beach combing.
- Huge yard. Great for dogs who like to run/fetch
- Great spot for walking/running/biking
- Just 1/2 mile walk to Bay Hay & Feed & to Rolling Bay Cafe (excellent cup of coffee).
- Close to the ferry and downtown Winslow Way with all its amenities.
This quaint and absolutely adorable cottage met all of our expectations! I chose this cottage because the convenience of its proximity to the ferry allowed my daughters and I to easily access the city and then get away to enjoy its view from afar, and it did not disappoint. The cottage was clean and well stocked with extra linens and other conveniences that ensured we all three had a comfortable stay. We loved how close the cottage was to the beach, and we really enjoyed taking in the views of the sun's changing colors on Mt. Rainier and the city while we took our evening walks. Thank you for sharing your cottage with us for the week, we left feeling relaxed and refeshed. If we have another opportunity, we would definitely love to stay at the cozy cottage again!
It's a charming cottage that was perfect for my writing retreat week. Walking in was like a sigh of relief and letting go of the world. Spotlessly clean and with everything I needed, even a blowdryer! Appreciated the binder of local info, too.
The cottage is airy and pleasant, and even when the high was 84 I didn't miss AC - just open the windows for the cross breeze and it's perfect (or go into town and get ice cream, it's delicious!). Wifi is topnotch and reliable, and it was fun to veg on the couch with TV, too. If you're there alone and you hear the door sloooooowly screech open in the night, it's because the back screen door doesn't have a latch. Totally not monsters.
Loved the easy walk to coffee and the mini-mart, and if you're an artisan or craftsperson, check out BARN right there, too. It's a pleasant walk along the water to the scheduled bus stop, or use BI Ride to get picked up--really--by the bus during the day. Taxis are hilarious but reliable (don't stress, they'll be there, possibly not exactly when you expect but you will make the ferry), and I got everywhere I needed to go without a car. It's a great way to dip into Seattle and come home to peace and quiet, or just enjoy the water and the sky.
Great place for a solo refresh and recharge!
This is a perfect location to get away from the city for the weekend (but still see it! gorgeous!), or a nice home base if you're visiting the area from out of town. We had everything we needed for our relaxing retreat weekend. Thanks!
Your cottage in Bainbridge, Washington had the perfect setting: a wonderful view of the Sound and city of Seattle, in a quiet coastal community. We had never been to Bainbridge Island before. Such a cute little town! But I do have some two suggestions that would help make it a more comfortable place. Things that are important to us: 1. Window coverings in the bedroom: Something to keep out the early sunlight. The sun shines directly in the window, waking us up at the crack of dawn!! And the warm sun heats up the room quickly. For the second night, I put up the dark blue sheets over the windows, so that the room would stay darker for a longer sleep.
2. The bed is very comfortable, but only big enough for one adult. Especially when it's a male adult! The second night, I had to move to the living room, to the couch, but being too small, ended up on the floor for the rest of the night. If I had thought about it, I would have slept on the patio lounge chair! So maybe a bigger bed, (Queen size would be nice. Better yet, a King,) or have a love-seat couch that becomes a sleeper. I didn't sleep well all weekend. My husband slept great the second night.
The owners did a wonderful job of updating this quaint cottage on Bainbridge Island. The View is wonderful with Mt. Rainier in the background. The cottage has all the amenities you require; is well kept and clean and updated with a fresh nautical theme. The mattress was sooo comfortable. If we ever came back we would definitely rent it again. It was a nice surprise for our first accommodation on a west coast holiday.
