We are native to the San Francisco Bay Area. We love to travel and especially love Tahoe and Maui. We rent through VBRO all the time when we travel and thank you for looking at our property. We are happy to answer any questions you may have.
Kurt Papenhause purchased this house in 2008
This house has been in our family for years and we love visiting as often as we can. We have taken care to outfit this house as a home, not a rental property. We think you will enjoy the special touches we have placed in the house from the light fixtures to the furnishings. This is a very relaxing location.
The views of Mt. Tallac and the lagoon are breath taking. Enjoy watching wildlife from geese to coyote and nutria (looks like a beaver swimming in the lagoon).
We had a lovely time staying at the Tahoe Keys House. The property owner was wonderful and responsive, and he even let our group check-in early since we had some guests flying in from San Diego earlier. We absolutely loved the view from the back of the house - you are pretty much on the lake and the view of the mountains was just perfect.
The house accommodated our group of 6 + furry friend perfectly. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms, and I believe the couch was a futon. Some of our guests utilized the amenities (jacuzzi) and loved it. We also really enjoyed using the gas fireplace in the evening.
I was also very pleasantly surprised by how well stocked the kitchen was! Sugar, spices, oil for cooking, and even tupperware and ziplock bags for leftovers! It's nice having a dishwasher and washer/dryer too.
Two minor comments: 1. The beds were a little too soft and every time one person moved, it would wake the other person up. I think all 6 of us had this issue. 2. The downstairs didn't stay very warm even though we had the heat up. Luckily, it was quite toasty under the blankets, so it wasn't a big deal.
Overall, we had a great stay and would definitely recommend this property for anyone who wants to enjoy what Tahoe has to offer without staying in the middle of town.
The house was lovely, clean, and had all the amenities you could hope for! Some of my family was staying in another part of South Lake Tahoe and we needed more space, so we rented this very spacious home. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was large and perfect for cooking, the snow was plowed and shoveled out front, and everything about the place fit our needs and wants with no hassle. The owners were quick to respond when we first made a reservation and were attentive to our questions. We didn't bring pets for this visit, but we would have liked to. Perhaps on another visit when we have more time, we'll bring one of our pets. The only critique we had was that the upstairs master bedroom took a bit of time to warm up versus the other rooms. Thank you so much for opening your home to us and for allowing us to make some wonderful Tahoe memories!
We enjoy every single moment with the family and friends. When we got there we had everything we need for 2 night stay, nice fireplace, family friendly living rom with dining area, nice view through big patio door, even we saw a bear walking on the ice on the channel in the back of the house, we saw first snow this year and even get a chance to clean it. Thank you we will definitely be back soon
This house was so cozy and felt like home. It was also in such a beautiful neighborhood close to many things. This listing was even better than the pictures. My dog couldn't have been happier to be on the water. We went paddle boarding and kayaking every day. I have definitely already planned booking this place on my next trip to Tahoe. Kurt thank you for having great communication and being an amazing host.
Great house, right on the water. It was so nice having our boat docked right outside out house. Hop on, hop off....Perfect for 10 of us. Large living room. Kitchen well supplied. Washer/dryer. Bed comfortable. Fantastic location, and the best part, PET friendly, our dog loved it. Neighbors were pleasant. Owners great to work with. Highly recommended!!

Tahoe Keys Resort offers two pools, one indoor, hot tubs, tennis courts, sandy beaches, beautiful views and lots of outdoor activities.
Tahoe is VERY strict with the boats they let in and all the ramps will check to be sure a boat has gone through inspection for possible invasive species. They clip a special wire to your boat and trailer.
Do everything you can to purge their engine and engine area of any residual water. Even wipe the area out if they can. And before they hit the inspection site, check again, as water comes out of unknown places when you go up the hill.
We use the Meyers inspection site. It takes about 20-30 minutes total. But if its a busy weekend or early summer season, there can be a line, so you will want to plan for that. We also recommend they fill up their boat before dropping in. We put it at the marina ramp in the Keys by the Fresh Ketch.
