Grachtengordel House Boat Rental Photos and Description

1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 3

It is widely agreed that the Jordaan is one of, if not THE best neighborhood in Amsterdam. It has lovely canals, great shopping, galleries and restaurants, weekly street markets and easy access to all the tourist sights in Amsterdam. Enjoy a unique experience on one of the funkiest boats in town located in the best neighborhood on one of the prettiest canals. Our quaint 'bohemian inspired' houseboat is full of artistic flair with all the comforts of home. Guests can enjoy a 'walking holiday' as attractions are easily reached on foot, or rent a bike just around the corner. Views across the canals and bridges are sprinkled with beautiful churches and amazing Dutch architecture. If location, location, location is your wish in Amsterdam, this is the rental for you. The space is perfect for 2-3 people or a couple with 1-2 small children. It is a small boat with low ceilings, but once you get cuddled inside it is extremely comfortable with all the modern amenities plus spectacular views on the canal out every window. We have a large outside decks on the canal and street sides (rare on houseboats) adorned with beautiful flowers and plants. The interior of the boat has 'funky' bright colors, cool lighting and lots of visual candy. There are 2 rooms and several outdoor sitting areas. The main room has a comfortable sitting area, dining table, kitchen and a queen sized bed. The 2nd room has a bathtub / shower, bathroom, office area and a single bed. Guests will have access to the entire home including high-speed wireless internet, cable TV, stove top, microwave and small toaster oven, Nespresso Coffee machine, Phillips Juicing machine and mixer, hot water pot for tea and kitchen and bathroom supplies.

About Jody Toll

My name is Jody and I grew up in Tucson Arizona, went to Lewis and Clark College in Portland Oregon, lived in Japan, Los Angeles, Amsterdam and Bali... I love to travel and Amsterdam is absolutely the best city in the world ! Come enjoy with us !

Jody Toll purchased this house boat in 2005

Why Jody Toll chose Amsterdam

When I first came to Amsterdam I knew I had to live on a houseboat. After years of searching, I found our boat which is located in the best spot in town and has tons of character! To wake up every morning to the glistening water, watch the ducks and other birds cruise by, listen to the live music and laughter in the streets and on the canal... it is a vibrant, artistic and beautiful place. I'm so happy to share it with you !

What makes this house boat unique

This boat is special because it sits on top of the water with large windows all along the canal and a wonderful outdoor patio. The views are amazing, you feel as if you could touch the water. And the Jordaan neighborhood is simply the best area of town!

Perfect location for exploring Amsterdam!

  • 5 of 5

This was our third stay on the Bohemian is just that spectacular. Anna is a gracious, prompt, and well-informed host. The location is perfect, whether you want to explore on foot or grab a tram. The houseboat itself is beautiful, comfortable, and relaxing. If you're looking for a great place to stay, where you only have to go a few steps down to reach your accommodation, this is it!! We will be back.

Wonderful stay in a fun and funky houseboat

  • 5 of 5

The Bohemian Houseboat was a perfect choice for our visit to Amsterdam. It was cozy, colorful, and very comfortable. The pictures online captured the quirkiness of the place, but we were pleased with the comfort. There was plenty of space for me and my partner to sleep, hang out, and relax during our stay. I was worried how the shower would work, but it was perfect... plenty of hot water and strong water pressure. The boat has a heater toward the back and a thermostat to help control the temperature in the main area. We were never too hot or too cold! We enjoyed the visits by the ducks and swans as well as waving to passers-by on their boats. The location couldn't have been better! The Jordaan area offers great shopping, bars, and restaurants away from the crowds of Dam Square and the Red Light District. We could hear the chimes of the nearby church bells, but they didn't keep us up at night. We ventured to the busier areas of town and quickly made our way back to Jordaan for the majority of our stay. Anna was very friendly and helpful with great recommendations for lunch and a local bar. We would definitely love to return to Amsterdam and this houseboat.

Best place I've ever stayed

  • 5 of 5

This was so fun, so cool. I almost hate to let people know about it because I will never stay anywhere else when in Amsterdam. You can walk anywhere from the boat or just relax and watch the world go by. Property manager Anna is very sweet and informative and great communicator. This is as good as it gets!

This is the funkiest houseboat on the planet

  • 5 of 5

We found this to be a cool houseboat that is in a fantastic location. There is not one part of this boat that is not super decorated for the hippy Amsterdam visitor and it was exceptionally clean. Plus we had an assortment of feathered friends who would visit us, coots and ducks, that kept us fully entertained, not to mention Gatsby the cat across the street who lives in a vintage store. The boat was comfortable enough for three, but no more than that would fit. As you are on a canal very close the Ann Frank house, there is an endless parade of tour boats passing by your windows, so expect to be on display to the world.....just smile and wave, or shut the curtains.

Just Right

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic time staying in this gem of a property! It is in just the right part of town; close to everything, but not overrun by tourists. It is within walking distance of some great restaurants, bars, coffee houses, and attractions. The property manager met us promptly and the boat was clean and ready for us. There are too many cool little details to name, and we felt really comfortable with the amount of space for two adults and one child. The art in the boat will blow you away. Staying on Jody's houseboat was definitely a once in a lifetime experience and I would absolutely recommend it!
