About the property

1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 2

It is widely agreed that the Jordaan is one of, if not THE best neighborhood in Amsterdam. It has lovely canals, great shopping, galleries and restaurants, weekly street markets and easy access to all the tourist sights in Amsterdam. Enjoy a unique experience on one of the funkiest boats in town located in the best neighborhood on one of the prettiest canals. Our quaint 'bohemian inspired' houseboat is full of artistic flair with all the comforts of home. Guests can enjoy a 'walking holiday' as attractions are easily reached on foot, or rent a bike just around the corner. Views across the canals and bridges are sprinkled with beautiful churches and amazing Dutch architecture. If location, location, location is your wish in Amsterdam, this is the rental for you. The space is perfect for 2 people or a couple with 1 small child. It is a small boat with low ceilings, but once you get cuddled inside it is extremely comfortable with all the modern amenities plus spectacular views on the canal out every window. We have a large outside decks on the canal and street sides (rare on houseboats) adorned with beautiful flowers and plants. The interior of the boat has 'funky' bright colors, cool lighting and lots of visual candy. There are 2 rooms and several outdoor sitting areas. The main room has a comfortable sitting area, dining table, kitchen and a queen sized bed. The 2nd room has a bathtub / shower, bathroom, office area and a single bed. Guests will have access to the entire home including high-speed wireless internet, cable TV, stove top, microwave and small toaster oven, Nespresso Coffee machine, Phillips Juicing machine and mixer, hot water pot for tea and kitchen and bathroom supplies.

About Jody Toll

My name is Jody and I grew up in Tucson Arizona, went to Lewis and Clark College in Portland Oregon, lived in Japan, Los Angeles, Amsterdam and Bali... I love to travel and Amsterdam is absolutely the best city in the world ! Come enjoy with us !

Jody Toll purchased this house boat in 2005

Why Jody Toll chose Amsterdam

When I first came to Amsterdam I knew I had to live on a houseboat. After years of searching, I found our boat which is located in the best spot in town and has tons of character! To wake up every morning to the glistening water, watch the ducks and other birds cruise by, listen to the live music and laughter in the streets and on the canal... it is a vibrant, artistic and beautiful place. I'm so happy to share it with you !

What makes this house boat unique

This boat is special because it sits on top of the water with large windows all along the canal and a wonderful outdoor patio. The views are amazing, you feel as if you could touch the water. And the Jordaan neighborhood is simply the best area of town!

The best way to experience Amsterdam❤️

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I visited Amsterdam several years ago and of course took a Canal Tour Boat ride. While on that cruise we noticed all these darling houseboats all along the canals. I told my husband When we go back We Must Rent a Houseboat to live on. When I found this rental on VRBO I just knew I had found the Best. From the minute Marguerite showed us our Home away from Home We Fell in Love. Every detail of this houseboat is Perfect. The Decor is definitely Bohemian Chic but even the orange and purple were perfect together. The kitchen had everything we needed or could possibly want to make all our meals in for the whole week we were there. There is a great market just down the canal one block away that had Fabulous food just like Whole Foods at home. Great bakery right across from market that makes Fabulous Chocolate Donuts to die for. We Loved our stay even in the middle of a bad week of rain and winds that our local Host Marguerite came over to warn us about. She was a great Host to show you how everything works and all the closets and cupboards so unpacking was a breeze. Marguerite even had fresh flowers and a nice cheese tray and wine all waiting for us to introduce us to our new home and certainly made us feel very Welcome. We had a Very Romantic week completely by ourselves all Cozy in our Bohemian Love Boat. Thank you Jody for having such an incredible houseboat and Thank you for allowing Steven and I to Share it.

quirky, fun place to stay

  • 5 of 5

Everywhere you look in this boat there is a creative and fun element. The boat was a little small for three, but worked out great. When we walked in, there were swans looking in through the windows! The boat was left stocked with orange juice, apple juice, coffee pods for the nespresso, water and tea. The location was perfect, occasionally loud on Friday night with party boats going by. This rental truly enhanced our stay and was memorable in and of itself.

Perfect little spot

  • 5 of 5

I can't say enough about how much we loved our stay here. It really enhanced our enjoyment of our first trip to Amsterdam. The photos of this place just don't do it justice. Every nook and cranny is filled with fun stuff. A life time of collecting. Each time I looked around I saw something different. This place is tiny for sure but they have made practical use of all of the space so my husband and I were always comfortable. The kitchen was well situated and I enjoyed cooking in while enjoying the view from my kitchen window. Every evening we enjoyed drinking wine on our porch and visiting with Gatsby.. The cat from the I ❤️ Vintage store from across the street. Our hostess Magriet was as sweet as can be and was amazingly helpful. We really enjoyed the refreshments and the pantry items left for us. My favorite thing about this place was the shower. The best shower that I have had on any of my travels. Hot nd perfect with a heavenly theme that made me feel like I was in a little cathedral every day. The originality of this place blew my mind!, I could not have been more impressed or felt more at home. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to stay here. Thank you.. Vicki Cox

Amsterdam trip

  • 4 of 5

Great location, everything worked well, especially the shower. Room for 3, however

Difficult for 2 to sit at the table, too close to bed area.

Owner's Response: HI Dana, Thank you for your review and your visit. Everything is a tight squeeze on our little boat, but I'm surprised you had troubles with the dining table for 2 people? I hope you were aware that the dining table area is expandable, the bench near the bed slides out to create more room when eating, then tucks back in under the table when not in use :) We'd love to have you back, come visit anytime. Warm regards, Jody
