About Bonnie McCallister
My Husband and I are both natives of Seattle and proud to be owners of such a wonderful historic building. The State Hotel building is on the National Historic Register.
Bonnie McCallister purchased this Apartment in 1990
Why Bonnie McCallister chose Pioneer Square
We bought the building as a fixer as it had no power or plumbing above the 1st floor. It has been a labor of love restoration project. We have lived and worked in Pioneer Square over the past 30 years. Right now is the most exciting time, for Pioneer Square and it's great to see all the new shops and restaurants and new neighbors moving to the Square. The Viaduct removal in 2018 will transform the area and connect Pioneer Square to the waterfront.
What makes this Apartment unique
The State Hotel was built in 1889, after the great Seattle fire and named for the year that Washington went from being a Territory to becoming a State. The State Hotel building has seen many historic moments in the history of Seattle. Once a hardware and provisioning store for all the gold miners headed to Alaska gold rush. There was also a dance hall and brothel in the building during that time too!. Don't miss hearing about the unique history of Pioneer Square on the Seattle Underground Tour. Take the tour and you will learn about the colorful early days of Seattle. It will be a highlight of your visit to Seattle. The tour talks about the State Hotel and it's famous 'Rooms 75 Cents' sign.

Wonderful stay, great location
Bonnie’s VRBO is perfectly located right in the middle of such a walk able Seattle and we had the most incredible time. Beautiful space, easily accessible and had everything we could possibly need. Had the best stay and would absolutely recommend it to anyone wanting to have the best visit in Seattle.
Live a Little, Actually Feel Seattle, Stay at The Loft
We just couldn't "hotel" it in such a fine city as Seattle. The hotel environment wasn't for us, we wanted to "feel" the city to enjoy it. Chose this loft from fine reviews and location near everything in Seattle's center. A couple of things. 1) there are a lot of stairs to climb. The Loft offers a great perspective of the comings & goings on the street below, but it's a little work getting to the top. We're old!; 2) if you aren't familiar with Seattle (we weren't), FIND THE BOOK in the Loft. It has a lot of places and mementos from people having stayed there before. We found a lot of the same things, BUT this would have made it easier; 3) full size fridge, dishwasher, gas stove wonderful for our leftovers. Has a coffee maker too. 4) store around block has essentials, not much more. But there are SOME GREAT grocery places with specialty foods that you can find on your way to or from the Loft; use your SmartPhone & maps to find them. You could cook and enjoy your own great meal ⊥tle of wine, with a great view from the loft, if you're so inclined. 5) FIFTEEEN FOOT CEILINGS & probably about 750 sq ft is MY GUESS. Need I say more. We like space; WE LOVED IT; 6) we packed heavy, but still used washer/dryer, bought Tide gels nearby; I wish we had brought less! 7) for your own sake, use Uber and Lyft. It's hard to park down there, not cheap, and it's hard to park anywhere else; 8) there's a metro train that goes to/from SeaTac ($3/person/direction). If you travel light and want an adventure to see the city, DO IT. Took us 30 minutes + probably 20 minutes walk from station stop to SWA terminal. The walk is completely sheltered; 8) we didn't use the buses & light rail much in town, BUT I suspect there's an adventure there too -- it was just too hard for me to figure out how & where to transfer, what lines, etc. ; 9) we used a luggage storage service because we decided to leave really late & couldn't keep our luggage at the Loft. The web portal is www.vertoe.com & the place we picked was next to Pioneer Square; 10) while we felt completely safe at the Loft, there are some sketchy areas on a few blocks here and there. NO MORE THAN ANY OTHER GREAT CITY. NOTHING THAT SCARED US TO DEATH. But be aware of your surroundings. Bad things can happen anywhere. In truth, 99.9% of the people were either polite or didn't care about what we were doing. WE WHOLEHEARTEDLY RECOMMEND THE LOFT.
Location, location, location!
Studio One was clean and cozy and a great location in Pioneer Square to return to after adventures in the great city of Seattle. The central location is perfect for those walking and using public transport. If you are renting a car, parking is tricky and expensive. The small kitchen was well equipped. It was nice to have laundry as well. The beautiful window is a focal point of the room. It was lovely to relax and watch the weather (snow) and the busy (and sometimes noisy) 1st Street activity.
Thx Rick. You guys were great guests and i’m so glad you didn’t let our crazy once in a lifetime snow storm stop you from enjoying yourselves!
We came in for a weekday honeymoon in the city. The loft was perfectly cozy and warm.
The access to Pikes Place and the rest of downtown was very easy.
Being there during the week, we really got an intimate city experience. The restaurants and stores were not crowded at all. And the sun was out for our stay.
Thank you for hosting such a wonderful place! Would definitely stay again!!
So glad you chose our loft for your honeymoon. I hope you come back!
The location of this studio was great near the light rail restaurants and bars. The studio was immaculate and decorated wonderfully. It was comfortable and everything we were hoping for.
Thanks so much. So glad you enjoyed our place. We sure love it too! Come back anytime.
All We Could Ask For. Fabulous Apartment. Fabulous Location.
Bonnie's place on Pioneer Square will not disappoint. It a beautiful, spacious apartment with the amenities of home. Bonnie has thought of everything. We felt relaxed and comfortable from the moment we walked in. Plus, the apartment is located in the heart of Pioneer Square with convenient walking distances to lots of things to see and do in Seattle. The apartment is also conveniently located above Damn the Weather, which is a fabulous eatery with speciality cocktails. Great benefit to have such a nice spot so close. We could not have asked for more. Thanks Bonnie
