Oak Island House Rental Photos and Description

House, 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8-10)

Come stay at the Gollywobbler, our family-friendly Oak Island beach house. Our house is a block and a half from the beach and has fantastic ocean views due to its street-corner location. We have three decks that face the ocean, two of them up high on the second floor - maybe you'll even see a gollywobbler! Our covered back deck looks out over a beautiful tidal marsh.

The main floor has a full kitchen with a table for eight. We like to cook so you will find all the tools you need including a large pot for crab or shrimp boils! The living room has new hardwood floors and plenty of books and board games for your family. Both the kitchen and living room have plenty of windows and adjoin a large deck. A covered deck just off the kitchen is a great place to enjoy your coffee or a meal.

There are two bedrooms and a bathroom on the main floor. One room has a new queen bed and the other has two singles. The main-floor bathroom has a tiled floor and tiled tub and shower.

Upstairs, both of the two bedrooms have queen beds. Each upstairs room has a private deck with an ocean view. The upstairs bathroom has a shower.

We keep a lot of beach toys which you are welcome to use. Try our surfboard at the beach, or paddle our canoe around the marsh if you like.

About Eric Rosentreter

The Gollywobbler is offered by the families of three siblings; Eric and Max Rosentreter, and Lydia Bangert. Eric's family lives in Mooresville, NC, Max's in Raleigh, NC, and Lydia's in Pinckney, Michigan.

Eric Rosentreter purchased this house in 2005

Why Eric Rosentreter chose Coastal North Carolina

Oak Island is a quiet, family-friendly beach town. Since the beach faces South, we get a nice sunset every evening. There are no high rises to obscure the view!

What makes this house unique

We love to visit the beach. Since our house is so close to the marsh, we get to see plenty of dolphins, egrets and crabs too.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Here is an email we got from the O'Dells that we are including with their permission.

Max and Eric:

We had a great time at the Gollywobbler. Everything was great. We utilized

most of the toys and it is was great having them there. Less stuff we had

to pack up to bring! Sorry I haven't gotten back to you -- missing a week

of work and coming back is never fun so I was trying to get back on track

w/everything last week!!! The kitchen was great also....we cooked/grilled

out every night but one and had everything we needed. The dogs loved

it....our 1 year old lab was in the water just about the whole time and the

older one dug a hole and chilled under the umbrella! It was great being

able to bring them!

We are already looking forward to returning next year!

Thanks again for a great house for the week!!

Perfect week for our extended family on Oak Island

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed the Gollywobbler as our home for a week at Oak Island. Our extended family from 2 years old up to Grandparents had fun on the beach as well as kayaking in the marsh. The walk to the beach was as described - very short - and the sunsets over the marsh were beautiful! I especially liked the ocean views from the upstairs bedroom and that the sounds of the surf could be heard from the decks. It was close enough to restaurants, Southport and shopping if you enjoy that sort of thing. We simply enjoyed the beach most of the time and evenings on the deck. We cooked quite a few meals and found the kitchen well stocked. Traffic was never an issue and the evenings were very peaceful. I highly recommend this house for your family if traveling to Oak Island. The owners were responsive with answers to any questions and very helpful.

Perfect Vacation!

  • 5 of 5

What a great place to stay and have fun! So close to the beach with views from all 3 front decks. A beautiful view of the marsh from back deck. Nice having the shower downstairs, especially with young children. This house was very well equipped for those who love to cook. We had everything that we needed, including games for the children and books for the adults. We sure hated leaving and hope to return next summer!

The title says it all! This couldn't have been easier: The owner's were friendly from the beginning and accessible. The house was clean and as described, no hidden surprises. We had friends from Chicago, Winston, and Charlotte all meet here and we had a blast! The decks offered great views and the ease of walking to either water option was key. We cooked and grilled every night and the open kitchen/dining room was perfect for catching up and reminiscing. Can't wait to go back! Exactly what we were looking for!

Wonderful House

  • 5 of 5

The Gollywobbler was really a wonderful place to vacation. The house is really all one needs to have an enjoyable vacation. It's not over the top, but it feels like home. The walk to the beach, is about 1-2 minutes. We had 4 adults and 3 kids, and there was extra room for another couple. Eric was really great to work with. Very efficient! Everyone was sad to leave the Gollywobbler, but we are hoping to stay there again. Such a great visit!

Had a Great Stay

  • 5 of 5

The Gollywobbler was a terrific place to stay and Eric was a dream to work with. The house is definitely located well ... a short walk to both the beach and the intracoastal waterway. The house is comfortable with lots of amenities (including the best water pressure in the shower!) Eric was wonderful to deal with, he answered our questions quickly. There were no surprises attached to renting this property. Would definitely rent The Gollywobbler again.
