The eclectic furniture consists of an antique industrial table and stools, modern sofa and ottomans, and a comfortable queen bed. The cottage, completed in 2013, is close to hiking trails, beaches, Poet's Cove Resort and Port Browning Marina. A tranquil sanctuary
My wife and I spent two nights at the cabin in January 2019. It was very comfortable and remarkably well designed (by an architect, no less). While the actual floor space was limited, it felt very roomy. The cabin was fully equipped with everything one would ever want, including several books on local lore and attractions. Our host (Sandra) was very accessible, accommodating, and friendly. When the power went out one morning, she delivered water and dry wood, and she lit our wood stove (i.e., our wood was wet). She also made a number of sightseeing recommendations.
The cabin itself had a very tranquil and peaceful vibe, irrespective of the tranquil and peaceful surroundings. The outdoor bathtub was a real treat, particularly when it was raining. My wife and I would definitely stay at Foxglove Cottage again and we would not hesitate to recommend it to others.
Most delightful cabin. Tall ceilings and white walls give it an extraordinary spacious airiness.
Extraordinary setting. Loved the peaceful cabin, the location, the well-stocked kitchen and the exceptionally comfy bed. Morning bath on the deck nourished our souls. Bluetooth speaker made it easy to listen to our favourite playlists on our phone. Had a special time on Pender with our little dog.
My wife and I stayed at Foxglove Nov 9-11, 2018. The cabin is wonderful with vaulted ceilings and a very comfortable bed and pillows in the loft. Kitchen was well appointed. Privacy on all 4 sides and nestled among the trees with ocean views as well. Multiple deck spaces and the outside tub, although we didn't use it, would be great to enjoy the next time we stay there. The owner was very responsive with clear and quick communication. The wood stove was really efficient and was a nice way to end an evening. As said by others the couch is terrible, very uncomfortable for longer than 20 minutes but there are other chairs to use that were a bit better. I highly recommend Foxglove. We'll be back again.
Thank you very much for your review.
Big news! We have a new, comfortable couch on order! It should be here within a couple of weeks! Thanks everyone for your couch feedback. :0
Wonderful character cottage
We loved our stay! It is a beautiful cottage - very comfortable and so nice to sit outside at night and look at the stars (or stargaze from the outdoor tub!) The wood stove kept the place cozy and warm and the loft bedroom was very comfortable.
Super quiet with a relaxed vibe!
Great cabin overall! We loved the outdoor bathtub and the comfortable mattress and bedding. (The couch, on the other hand was not as comfy as I had hoped, since we did a lot of lazing around.) We visited at the end of a hot, dry summer, and unfortunately the surrounding garden was not nearly as lush and green as the photos. Not the fault of the owner. Our other complaint — and again not the fault of the owner — was the extremely sulphur-smelling (well?) water. It made cooking and bathing unpleasant, and we didn’t feel comfortable drinking it. But apart from that, we enjoyed our stay!
Thank you for your feedback. I am happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay. I would like to respond to some of the points that you made: During the summer Pender Island experiences drought conditions. With climate change our droughts are starting earlier and lasting longer. (You would have noticed how dry and parched the entire island looked.) I have a drought tolerant garden that I do not water during the dry months. So yes, it was not so 'lush and green as the photos'. Our diminishing water table means that, in the summer months, our water has a strong odor. I realize that this is not a palatable situation for many and is why I leave bottled potable water. Please know that our water goes through a stringent purification system. As a side note, we are in the process of switching to a rainwater harvesting system. This will alleviate the unpleasant smell.
The couch is something we can and will address, bearing in mind it is a small space and we don't have room for a six foot, lounging couch. Thank you, Sandra
Lovely tree house
We loved staying in this tree-house-like cabin. Everything was as is shown in the pictures, and the cabin was outfitted with everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The hostess was truly kind and helpful -- helping immediately to fix the grill on our first night and bringing extra blankets for our daughter. Unfortunately, because of the drought, we missed out on seeing her gardens, but we found the environment beautiful nevertheless. A short drive to the beautiful beaches at Brooks Point and spectacular hikes in the vicinity. I would definitely recommend this cabin to friends!
