We stayed in this apartment for a week. It's in a good location, just over a mile from the National Mall, which made it easy to walk or take a bike or bus from the apartment to almost everything we wanted to see. There's a restaurant just nextdoor with good food and a grocery store just a block away. Even Whole Foods was within easy walking distance.
We stayed there with our three teen children. The apartment is all one big room, but there's couch space and an inflatable bed that they could use.
The kitchen is pretty well stocked with implements and I had no trouble making breakfasts and lunches there. The dishwasher was a huge help. And having a washer and dryer was great as well.
If you need to connect to the internet during peak usage hours, however, the wifi is crap. It works great during off hours (like in the middle of the night). But right as everyone gets home from work and streams a show while eating dinner, the wifi starts to cut out or stop working entirely.
And if you have trouble with stairs, there's no elevator.
This place worked really well for our family of 5. We would happily come back for another stay.
Directions to enter building were very detailed and easy to follow.
Walk to Metro was 4 blocks. Neighborhood was ok. The front security window had been broken and was temporarily repaired but glass was everywhere. Parking was tuff but that is what we expected. I highly recommend the $50 parking pass and read signs carefully for street cleaning. Cliff helped us with the parking pass. The room was exactly what we needed. Family of 5 was no problem. Kitchen was well appointed with utensils and cookware. Washer and dryer worked great as did all other appliances. Some of the plumbing fixtures were loose but all worked. Carpet was clean but stained. Bathroom was clean and roomy but needed a shelf or rack for toiletries. Towel rods and fixtures were all loose in bathroom and one even came of the wall. All linens and towels were clean and plentiful. Bottom line is if you are looking for triple the space of a hotel room and need a full kitchen this place is the way to go. It isn't the Ritz but it severed it purpose well at an excellent price!!!! One last thing....3 story walk up. No elevator.
The cleaning crew did a good job but the materials in the apartment need to be updated in general as there is definite sign of heavy use.
This property management company oversees nearly all the units in this building. They slam around the building incessantly slamming doors. Forget about a nap during the day or even sleeping in on your vacation because it wont happen here.
But the biggest problem here, as other visitors have touched on, is the internet. IF YOU NEED AN INTERNET CONNECTION FOR YOUR JOB OR BUSINESS, DO NOT STAY HERE. Not only was the internet slow and unreliable, my last full day of my visit- the day I happened to need the internet most- I was completely without internet. The worst part is, once I texted the property manager in the afternoon about my problem, I NEVER got a response. Since I was my problem was ignored, I sent another text message saying I felt it was disrespectful that I had not gotten a response and since the internet was not working, and because of the all the door slamming, I felt I should get my checkout time moved back by 2-3 hours as I had an 8 pm flight on Saturday. Well, I got an immediate response about that. Within two minutes the property manager says that there is no way he can do that, seemingly unaware of how bad it looked that he refused to answer me about my problem with the internet yet was johnny-on-the-spot with an answer when it came to me wanting to stay 2 hours after a normal checkout. I sent another text message at 3 AM saying I was staying until Noon because if they werent going to uphold their end of the bargain with providing internet than I was not going to uphold my end of the bargain by leaving at 10 AM. (I SAVED ALL OF THE TEXT MESSAGES FOR VERIFICATION) In the morning as I got up, I was harassed by two managers, getting in shouting matches over the phone with one. They kept saying that there was a contract that I signed and I had to leave. I said they didnt uphold their part of the contract(i.e. no internet). They were just trying to run out the clock. They knew they were never gonna help me with the internet and hoped I would leave without needing to actually help me with the lack of internet.
If you arrive early in the day at the beginning of your trip and/or you have a flight later in the day the last day or your trip, do not stay here. Checkout is early 10 AM and the only allow you to keep your luggage in the building until 1 PM. VERY UNHELPFUL, NOT ACCOMMODATING IN THE LEAST
The place was very good and located in a good location. The studio was good size, we slept four of us comfortably. The air mattress was greatly appreciated by our oldest son and our youngest son crashed on the couch. Our only issue was the two parking tickets of $100 we received. We paid $50 for the parking permit. We checked the sign and thought we were ok and received tickets for non commercial vehicle. I would suggest that the parking instructions on where to and where not to park be explained well for out of towners.
Centrally located for sight seeing. The hallways getting in is very narrow and there are 3 flights so beware folks who have knee trouble. There is a queen bed, pull out full bed and 88CRFTthey had a blow up bed so 4 of us stayed very comfortably. The kitchen was fine but the faucet needed some work. It had a dish washer and washer and dryer which was nice. They had detergent for the washing machine which we appreciated. The wifi was a little tricky to figure out but we eventually got it working then it was fine. The unit can use more storage. There was really no place to unpack our stuff so we had to leave our clothes in the suitcase. The bathroom had the same problem with not enough shelves or places to put our toiletries. The renters allowed us to leave our bags after we checked out which was very helpful. The unit had an umbrella which was very useful since it poured the last day. Overall we had a nice stay.
We spent a busy 4 days in DC and used this large studio as our base. We did not rent a car and chose this location for its proximity to the Metro and the fact that it is within waking distance to the Mall. Liquor store and grocery store only 1 block away. NOTE: the grocery store charges you for plastic bags! Would be a nice "green" touch to have bags in the unit. The apartment is just as it appears in the photos. The kitchen is well appointed if you choose to cook in but the restaurants in DC are phenomenal! Wi Fi is a little slow...There is no elevator so be prepared to lug your suitcases up 2 flights of narrow stairs.
Great location with everything needed in a couple blocks radius. Grocery, Liquor and pharmacy all nearby! Great location to stay for a convention. Great for sightseeing, and events at the Verizon Center.
