About Wendy Smith

I’m Wendy and this is Graham. We are not only your hosts at The Crescent @ OGH but we live here, too! I am honored and excited that you’re considering or have chosen my home and Guest House for your trip to NOLA. I was born and raised in New Orleans and genuinely love everything about this city… from it’s eclectic culture, cuisine, and history to my amazing neighborhood, neighbors, and small piece of the most unique city in America! I hope you become a regular at OGH. My job is to provide you with a safe, comfortable, and fun environment to stay in. Why Wendy Smith chose Lakeview

Orleans Guest House is a beautiful home in a great location that is furnished with very nice details. The SAFETY, the LOCATION, and the STYLE make this a great place to enjoy your stay in NEW Orleans, its that simple!

The larger of the two units at OGH, The Crescent is 1200 sq ft of New Orleans charm, beautiful art, and comfort — two bedrooms, large spa-like tiled bath, cement floors, huge kitchen with quartz counters, private courtyard, fountains, grill, separate entry/exit — total privacy!

PRIVACY and GUEST ACCESS is another plus...

All guests have an independent entry and exit with complete and total privacy. My philosophy regarding interaction with guests is…. I live on site and am available for suggestions on what to see/do and how to get there! Or… I will interact with you only when necessary giving you as much privacy as possible! Either way, this is a wonderful and unique city — “SO MUCH TO DO…SUCH LITTLE DISTANCE!” I know you will enjoy your stay!

Amazing Month In New Orleans at OGH

  • 5 of 5

We just finished a month long stay at the Crescent OGH with Wendy. Words cannot begin to describe the amazing experience we had. As we were there for a month, feeling at home was very important. From the moment we met Wendy and walked into this place we felt completely and totally welcome. The space is nicely laid out with two nice size bedrooms and one large bathroom. We frequently used the kitchen to cook our meals as well as entertain friends and family. We enjoy cooking and were initially expecting to have to purchase items in order to make the kitchen work. That was absolutely not the case. Everything we needed Wendy had already thought of. We hosted a mother's day cook out, several dinners with friends, and many meals with just the two of us. Not once did we need for anything. We also have a little 2 1/2 year old dog named Dixie. Dixie also felt at ease (which for those of you with fur babies you understand the importance). She enjoyed on several occasions getting to socialize with Grahame & Betty (Wendy's 2 fur babies). All the way around we felt like we weren't just renting from a landlord, but we felt like we'd made a great friend and neighbor.

We also found everything to be the highest of quality. Really high end linens, wonderfully comfortable well made furniture and the most amazing decor at every turn. We've never seen so many creative pieces. We really enjoyed the outdoor space as well. The grill, the outdoor dining table, the water features......all made the living experience that much richer. All in all we were really sad to have to leave. We have a new friend in New Orleans who we will continue to see and keep in touch with for the rest of our lives. The personal touch was above and beyond. We will cherish the memories we've made and look forward to future opportunities to stay at OCH.

Owner's Response: I was sad to see them leave! From a host's perspective, they were an absolute pleasure to host. They were considerate, very responsible with Dixie (their 2 yr old fur baby), and felt more like comfortable friends than newly introduced guests. They left the space in spotless condition and were extremely respectful of The Crescent and the entire neighborhood and neighbors. They quickly settled in as the perfect guests. If they want to rent from you, do not hesitate! They are exceptionally considerate and responsible guests, and, more importantly, just quality people who I was glad to have in my home for a month..

The Crescent is Excellent

  • 5 of 5

Three of us stayed for 10 days during Jazz Fest 2017. The Crescent is very clean, spacious and a wonderful place to spend time in New Orleans. Wendy is very helpful, accommodating and a delightful person. We loved the patio and fountains to have coffee in the mornings. The living and dining area are comfortable to do work or have meals. The bedrooms and bathroom have nice linens and towels. The kitchen had everything we needed during our stay. We would recommend The Crescent to others and look forward to returning soon.

Wonderful property and host!!

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at many homes across the country and this was definitely a favorite! Wendy was so helpful and her property had absolutely everything we could have wanted. We came in on July 4th weekend and she had a bottle of prosecco on ice waiting for us!. It was an extremely clean property, decorated with original New Orleans art, a great location, and a wonderful private courtyard. We will be visiting with Wendy again for sure!

Exceeds Expectations on All Levels

  • 5 of 5

As a former hospitality industry professional I tend to have high standards that often leave me disappointed. My stay at the Crescent exceed all expectations that I had, and some I didn't know that I had. The property is beautifully appointed with all creature comforts and the extra thoughts and amenities offered were well thought out and provided. Beginning with a chew toy for my dog and refrigerator stocked with enough to get by without having to run straight to the grocery store. I normally stay close to the Quarter when I come to NOLA but having discovered Midtown and Bayou St John in particular, I plan on staying there when I return. The neighborhood is great, dog friendly, great restaurants with enough variety to keep you busy over a week. Easy walk to the street cars and the park, and the park is huge! Writing this review makes me want to go back right now. Wendy is a great host who loves her city and takes great pride in what she does and how she takes care of her guests. Go there now!

Beautiful, Outstanding space; Fabulous, Knowledgable Host

  • 5 of 5

I was taking my elderly parents to a wedding in New Orleans and selected to stay at The Crescent based on location, reviews and off street parking. I totally agree with the other reviews. The décor is absolutely stunning, yet comfortable and practical. No matter what the weather or anything else you may have going on, you can not help but smile and be happy in such beautiful surroundings. Property was impeccably clean and well maintained; from the bed sheets to the bath towels to the dishes, every detail or need is accommodated with high-end, quality materials and appliances. Wendy is fun, informative, easy to talk to and accommodating. We had a "flavor of New Orleans" welcome basket waiting for us when we arrived and she answered all my questions and concerns promptly so I knew exactly what to expect and could better manage with my parents. We will definitely be going back and also recommending it to family and friends. Can't say enough good things about our family's experience staying there. She also has a 1BD/1BA that is upstairs and is in the process of renovating additional downstairs space.

BAYOU VIEW (Elevated Studio)

Charm, a beautiful view, private covered balcony and sound-system, spa-type tiled bath and beautiful furnishings and art. It’s the smaller of the two units at OGH but big on style and view! (Don't forget to look for Bayou View under a separate listing!)

OGH offers superb amenities with fair and standard rental agreements and rates. Read on… you’ll see.

Some basic differences or qualities between The Crescent and Bayou View are:

*The Crescent is larger (2br/1ba, 1200 sqft)

*Pets are considered at The Crescent only- not Bayou View

*Bayou View is elevated with a deck view

*The Crescent is ground level with a private courtyard

*The Crescent has a full kitchen, while Bayou View has a well-done kitchenette with all the essentials, most stainless steel, including a temp-controlled wine storage and a walk-in closet.

THE CRESCENT (Larger Ground-Level Apt)

Spread out over 1200 sq.ft. of comfort in The Crescent. This larger space has 2 bedrooms, a large tiled bath, beautiful artwork throughout, huge kitchen with quartz countertops, a beautiful combined dining and living space, cement floors throughout, and a peaceful PRIVATE courtyard with fountains flowers and outdoor dining.

(Both offer offstreet parking if you have a car, but you surely don't need one!)

Walk it. Bike it. Scoot it. Row it. Transportation around OGH is easy and fun! OGH is a special place in the perfect location. Within minutes you can walk to Jazz Fest or a Mardi Gras parade like Endymion, or, even the New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA). You can catch the streetcar for an adventure anywhere around New Orleans, dine at some of the best NOLA restaurants, grab fresh produce at farmers’ markets, and more. In City Park alone there’s the New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA), a sculpture garden, a golf course and driving range, tennis courts, a dog park, and even 24-hour coffee and beignets.

A short cab ride — business or pleasure!

If the French Quarter is your destination, Downtown, Uptown, Garden District, Warehouse District, Business District, Morial Convention Center Shopping the Riverwalk or leaving dockside on a cruise, its all about a mile-and-a-half cab ride away.

Our historic nearby neighborhoods are fun to bike or rent a scooter. Faubourg Marigny and the Bywater offer daytime activities and festivals, as well as an active nightlife with famous (and “not-so-famous”) restaurants, bars, and music clubs! I am honored that you are considering Orleans Guest House for your trip to NOLA. I was born & raised in New Orleans and genuinely love everything about it… It’s eclectic neighborhoods, unrivaled cuisine, rich history of culture, hospitality, diversity, architecture, music (even at our funerals!) and the arts... NOLA has an almost indescribable uniqueness - It is no doubt one of America's gems! Such a unique and wonderful place deserves to be enjoyed from unique and wonderful surroundings... Stay once and I hope you will become a regular here at OGH like so many of our awesome guests!

You will notice that throughout the year, I do not rate fluctuate. The prices are constant, the fun is constant, and the level of detail and quality accommodations remains constant. Its a great recipe for happy guests, enjoyable stays, and return trips! As a general rule, I also don't price negotiate- the reason is simple- the detail, luxury and personalized accommodations far exceed the reasonable pricing structure. New Orleans never has an "off" season, and, I do NOT engage in price gouging for events such as Mardi Gras, Jazz Fest, Essence Fest, FQF (the festivals and events are endless!) Just stay once to understand.. you will surely return for what OGH is all about... luxury, privacy, safety & the BEST LOCATION, the heart of "Mid-City". NOLA is a special place- you deserve to see it from a truly special place.

FAQs are available @, or, feel free to call me personally for more information! I'm happy to take your call and answer any questions you may have.
