Beautiful location, so peaceful!

We loved our stay at the cottage on Pender Island!

It is on the quieter end of South Pender Island, and the view from all the many windows and deck were breathtaking! The house itself is very modern, and a lot bigger than what it looks like in pictures and from the outside.

I would definitely suggest this place to others as we had a great stay being ocean front, watching the barges go by and sea life right out the window. Unfortunately didn't see any whales, but lots of seals!

Extreme Tranquility. Staying here (even with 3 crazy children under the age of 7) was like being in another world. You must experience the bliss! If you want to unwind and forget about everything except the natural beauty of the universe you should come here. The house itself is bright, fresh, extremely clean and had everything we needed. Host was easy to reach and the whole experience was just perfect.

We loved the ocean front setting, watching sea life and the ever changing landscape. The cabin was well outfitted and it was effortless to settle in. The owner was helpful in providing pre-trip information and ensuring a great stay. Would highly recommend it. Jan and Michele

Spectacular site and incredible stay

  • 5 of 5

This was our very first time on Pender Island and we could not have imagined a better place to stay. The cottage is spacious and luxurious, with two large bedrooms, an exceptional and well-appointed kitchen and the crowning glory, a living room and dining room with floor to ceiling windows that looks out over a bay. There's a fireplace in that room which we put to good use and a mesmerizing and breathtaking view. We had planned to do a lot of hikes and stuff around the island for our week there but we could barely tear ourselves away from the beach and bay -- the cottage looks onto the pebble beach which we would walk along for about a half a mile past three other points, all with their own spectacular views. Wildlife -- seals, otters, sea lions, birds of many kinds, and all manner of other creatures -- played in front of us every day. We were there in the early spring/late winter but had great weather so were able to enjoy it despite slightly colder temperatures. The hosts provide every comfort -- there is a great hammock set up in the trees overlooking the bay, and an outdoor furniture set and Adirondack chairs to use. There are beach toys and puzzles and games for kids, a TV hookup with a DVD player, decent wifi and lots of local area maps and books. It's on South Pender so about a thirty minute drive from the ferry terminal and twenty minutes from the nearest grocery and other stores on some fairly windy and at hilly roads. It's best to carry in your food but the set-up is great so cooking there was a real pleasure. They really anticipate all your needs in terms of having all the dishes, cutlery, washing machine and dryer, dishwasher, all the comforts of home and in a really stylish and comfortable place. One of the best vacations we've ever had.

About John Mann

Our family is spread between Vancouver and Toronto and we wanted a retreat where we could get together, to relax and get away from the city.

John Mann purchased this cottage in 2010

Why John Mann chose Pender Island

Our search for a family retreat was over as soon as we saw this property. Having looked at properties on all of the Gulf Islands, this was the only south-facing, low bank oceanfront/beachfront with expansive views of the water. We knew immediately that it was the one!

What makes this cottage unique

The ocean view is simply stunning and the beach is literally a stone's throw from the house. Whether we are sitting on the deck or in the living room, even at the sink in the kitchen, we can't take our eyes off of it and the abundant wildlife it is home to.
