Hello, we are Roger and Beth we are originally from the Pacific Northwest, Roger is a Heavy Equipment Dealer and Beth is a Massage Therapist
Beth Jensen purchased this studio in 2014
Peaceful and a place that we can grow wonderful things.
The apartment had everything you needed. Upscale appliances comfy bed, extra towels, smart TV. It was a very nice location no people ( never met owners Beth and Roger ) The owners were very responsive when we had one issue with the new apartment and the handyman was there within hours to do repair. On our last day I met the owners brother turned out we went to the same high school and we were only one grade different. Kona is a small world ran into a few people i had known from Seattle or Oregon. I wanted to do something different then stay at the beach so staying on a coffee plantation sounded fun. We could hear the birds in the morning. It was close to the airport and close to Kona. It was a rare find on the island.
This is an isolated, quiet rental away from the touristy areas. We spent most mornings and evenings on the patio area communing with the turkeys and cows!
This was the most well-equipped rental I've ever stayed in. They thought of every detail from beach towels to shopping bags for your groceries. The kitchen was also better stocked with dishes and basic cooking gear than we were expecting with a studio.
Things to be aware of:
- It is a 20 minute drive from just about anywhere in Kona. This is either a plus or a minus depending on what you are looking for.
- When we first arrived, we were suprised by the door near the kitchen area which looks into the owner's house through the slats. If anyone was there, sound and light would carry. However, we never saw the owners so I'm assuming they only rent out the studio when they are not there.
- Other than the outdoor area, there is no living area. We spent a lot of time using the bed as a couch for lack of anywhere else to sit. It's like a nice hotel room with laundry, a small kitchen and outdoor seating area. We thought it was perfect for us.
We loved the place. It was perfect for our 7 night stay while preparing our boat to sail away. Peaceful and tranquil and very nicely appointed. The owners were also very helpful when the internet crashed and we had urgent business to conduct. Our only suggestion for possible improvment is a different bed but we still regretted leaving.
The property is absolutely pristine and beautifully decorated. It's in a very quiet neighborhood atop a hill where you can view the sunset if you're awake or home. After constantly being on the go from morning to evening, my husband and I were happy to come back to a comfortable and clean place we could call “home” for the 5 nights we were there. The washer and dryer was a huge bonus and finding the fresh Kona beans, supplied by the owners, to grind for my morning coffee was a treat.
Beth and her husband were always very quick to respond to any of our questions. The only recommendation we would suggest would be to have a privacy shade at the door because the bed is located by the doorway, close to where the security camera points. But I honestly don't think you could see inside unless you have your face right up against the door.
I'm a stickler when it comes to renting a place to stay on vacations and because of the cleanliness, modern touches, amenities and safe location of this property, I would definitely choose to stay here again in a heartbeat. We couldn't have asked for a better “home away from home.” A HUGE thank you to Beth and her husband for allowing us to stay on their beautiful property. MAHALO!

We had a very enjoyable stay at Beth and Roger ' s place. The studio is brand new and is located in a beautiful house overlooking the ocean, in the middle of a coffee plantation.
After a day of exploring the BI, it was so wonderful to drive up to this wonderfully quiet retreat on a coffee plantation. At 1,500, the nighttime temperatures dropped to around 60, which was perfect. The home away from home was beautifully built as an addition on the side of a beautiful home, and I never saw the owners...pure privacy aside from some wild turkeys, a few chickens, and some cows on a posture just above. A wonderful place to awaken...without the noise of others nearby...to start the day with just the raw beauty of Hawaii. thanks much.
Holualoa Village has wonderful local art gallery's and the Coffee festivities. Don't forget to looking down on the coastline at this vantage point is amazing.
