The former headquarters of a completely derelict iron-ore mine, which dates from Roman times, with the 40 hectares woodland have been completely transformed in a garden of Eden during last 20 years. The 19th century buildings have been converted into a restaurant and guest rooms, while a smaller house in the garden is now a romantic cottage. In the wide, lush garden, which has been established with surprising success on top of the old mine debris, live now a large amount of plants, flowers, fruits and vegetables, while in the woods wild fungi and berries are picked to find their way into seasonal menus, based on interesting Jewish-Italian or Piedmont's cooking. There are shady terraces, ruins to explore in the old mine's enchanting world: forges, ancient mill's stone wheels, galleries, abandoned villages, Napoleonic mule tracks... Lovers of wildlife, geologists, archaeologists, mycologists, artists and sportsmen will find a new world for their interests and passions.
From La Miniera it is possible to start a very interesting tour to visit Jewish Piedmont and its 16 restored ancient synagogues and sites of jewish memory, beginning from Ivrea' Synagogue through Alessandria, Asti, Biella, Carmagnola, Casale Monferrato, Cherasco, Cuneo, Mondovì, Saluzzo, Torino and Vercelli.
There are many ancient castles in Aosta Valley and in Canavese. Many trails to do trekking are very easy to reach over the hills and the mountains all around.
Turin with its restored downtown, palaces, museums and shops is 50 km far from La Miniera.
19th century building, among new gardens set on the old mine’s property, Director’s house is a nice villa with three large rooms, each with its own bathroom. One big well equipped kitchen completes this flat. Rooms’ doors open on a bright entrance. First right is a room with a double bed and a single bed, with three windows. Second right a double bedroom. First on the left is the kitchen with a large table for ten people and everything to cook. Second on the left is the biggest room with a double bed and a bunk bed. Heating is under floor, but a wood heater is ready to be used in the entrance to give a warm atmosphere. From the rooms’ windows you can see a beautiful panorama or a quiet look on the garden and the mountain’s woods, in which you can find many paths to have nice walks or hiking to discover the old mine's ruins, nature, wilderness...

Très bien pour les ballades à pied, et le vélo de route.
La Miniera is located 50 km north of Turin, near the community of Lessolo, in the hamlet of Calea. It lays on a wide terrace on the right hillside of the Dora Baltea river, near the town of Ivrea, in Canavese, few km from Aosta Valley and from Biella, well known town for its wool factories, with easy access by A5 motorway from Aosta or Turin or by A4 motorway from Milan. In the neighbourhood you can find many enchanting lakes, among them Lake Sirio and Lake of Viverone. Ivrea is famous for its Carnival and the battle with oranges. Turin with its palaces, castles, museums, old cake and chocolate shops and bars, its new buildings for 2006 Olympic Games is just round the corner. Skiing areas are very easy to reach. The main thing people can do is to live some days among nature sounds and colours, listening to the streams roar, jay's sneer, owl's night songs, watching fire-flies sparkling in the dark, finding out boar’s tracks or simply to walk among the woods.
Other Activities: Hiking, guided visits to the old mine's structures.
Ski: There are many ski places in Aosta Valley: Gressoney La Trinité or Saint Jean, Val d'Ayas with Champoluc and Antagnod and many others.
