Overview

Cayuga Lake Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Lovely Apartment Adjacent To Taughannock Falls State Park and Cayuga Lake.

This lovely apartment is close to Taughannock Falls, the highest single drop waterfall in the Northeastern United States (33 feet higher than Niagara Falls). The location is adjacent to Taughannock Falls State Park and is perfect for outdoor activities including hiking, biking, swimming, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, boating, and fishing. Hiking the nature trails along the gorges, which are up to 400' high, provides panoramic and dramatic views of the gorges formed by the ice age. Minutes from the Cayuga Wine Trail, the Cheese Trail and the Beer Trail, there are great restaurants nearby, many which feature free live music. Only ten miles to Ithaca and to Watkins Glen, across the street from a beautiful stream that flows into the waterfall. You can hear the soothing sounds of the stream as you doze off to sleep. Peaceful surroundings and beautiful gardens. Saturday summertime lakefront outdoor concerts at Taughannock Park.

Newly renovated smaller second floor apartment in owner's country home, cozy and comfortable, perfect for 1-2 people. The bedroom has a new queen bed, solid oak dresser plus an air conditioner. The cheerful sunroom/dining room has a cypress wood table and chairs and looks out over the expansive grounds. We call the apartment the Eagles Nest, since it sits above the magnolia trees and overlooks large black walnut trees and many flower gardens. There's a fully equipped kitchen with refrigerator, oven and range, coffee maker, toaster and microwave. In addition there's a newly tiled bathroom, a den with two chairs and flat screen DirectTV with 63 channels and second air conditioner, a walk-in closet, and wireless internet connection. Linens, towels and soft cotton bedding and blankets are supplied, and several Metropolitan Museum of Art reproductions hang on the walls. Close to the quaint village of Trumansburg which offers boutique and art gallery shops, excellent restaurants, a large grocery store and liquor store, pharmacy, natural foods store and deli, bank, beautiful public library, new bowling alley and laundromat. The house was formerly owned by Robert Moog, who invented the synthesizer, and who invited many famous musicians to the home, i.e. the Beatles and Emerson, Lake and Palmer.

About Loretta Heimbuch

Retired graphic artist/teacher, originally from New Jersey and so grateful to now be living in the beauty of the Finger Lakes region of upstate NY.

Loretta Heimbuch purchased this apartment in 1977

Why Loretta Heimbuch chose Cayuga Lake

Bought this house in 1977 from Moog synthesizer inventor/musician Bob Moog who was moving to North Carolina to celebrate his break from the corporate world. Loved this house at first sight - and the Finger Lakes' gorges and waterfalls nearby.

What makes this apartment unique

Ideal location, next to the beauty of Taughannock Falls State Park, Cayuga Lake, across from the stream that flows into the 215' waterfall, midway between Ithaca and Finger Lakes wine country.

Great Couples Getaway

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was perfect for 2 people. The owner greeted us when we arrived, was very welcoming, and offered great suggestions. The waterfall trails down the road are a must do. We spent hours walking the trails and enjoying the views. Trumansburg has a nice collection of restaurants (we ate great meals at Hazelnut Kitchen and Little Venice). Great location for visiting wineries, breweries, and cideries along Cayuga and Seneca lakes. We highly recommend this apartment and this area for couples.

Pretty apartment .

  • 5 of 5

The location is lovely. The apartment was clean and convenient to stores, etc. Nice and quiet - we had a great stay and would recommend it to anyone looking for a vacation. The host and hostess were very accommodating when booking, and the deposit was refunded the same evening we left. Thanks Loretta and Steve!

Comfortable Stay, Great Location

  • 5 of 5

We had a short stay at the apartment while attending a reunion at Cornell. The apartment looked just like the pictures and was clean and welcoming. Loretta was available on arrival to greet us and give the keys. While reunion events kept us out of the house for the majority of the day, it was great to come back in the evening and relax in a comfortable space. I would definitely recommend this property.

Clean and cozy!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here because my husband was running the Cayuga 50 Mile race on June 4th. Loretta greeted us upon our arrival and gave us a tour of the apartment. It is clean, comfortable and quiet. It was an easy drive to all of the places we needed to go. We would definitely recommend staying here and would be happy to stay here again.
