We are a Canadian family of four, with two small children aged 4 and 7 years old. We live just west of Edmonton, Alberta. My wife and I grew up in this area and now live on an acreage on my family's old homestead. I work in the Alberta oilfield at one of Alberta's many oil plants. My wife stays at home with our children and takes care of them, our acreage, dogs, cats, wild birds, even the odd fox and deer. Like many Canadians we desire an escape during the brutal winters and Costa Rica is the place for us. Friendly people, spectacular natural beauty, great food, and tons of adventures to be found!
John and Dawn Miller purchased this villa in 2014
We vacationed at this property in March 2014 and fell in love with the area and Villa. The property manager Rosa is very knowledgable and she really made us feel like we owned the place, so we decided to buy it. We plan on vacationing there every winter and thought if we could do that along with letting other people enjoy the experience then we were making a good choice. The Villa was completed construction in 2012, and is fantastically finished. The layout allows the Villa to be great for families. The master bedroom is the first of two on the upper floor, only steps away from the second bedroom. If there is need for more guests a third bedroom on the main floor is perfectly situated and also the main bedroom has a futon. The 2.5 baths was a must for us as I am the only male in the family so the girls will be set up for 'getting ready' for years to come. Our favourite thing about it was the pool. It was perfect for our two young girls and it is so nice to be able to cool down in there whenever we wanted. The outdoor shower was awesome too, gave a place to wash all the sand out of the swimming trunks without getting it all over the Villa.
There is little, if anything, not to love about this property. The pool, the views, the 'new' feeling, it all adds up and is really quite impressive. The finished details are beautiful; teak woodwork throughout, new stainless steel appliances, new comfortable beds, and the space itself gives it both function and fashion. We had looked for months on end for a vacation rental and are so happy we got it right on our first try. It really feels like home and if anything is required our property manager Rosa will take care of whatever you may need quickly and to your satisfaction. She has lived there for 13 years and knows everybody and everything you'll want to enjoy your vacation.
This is a Fantastic Villa. Tons of space and the location is perfect. Plenty of chairs and recliners around the pool for multiple guests. The landscaping and gardening around the property is beautiful and well maintained. You will not be disappointed with this villa.
The owners and the property manager are very responsive to any problems that arise with the Villa. Some important information to know. Dominical has many poweroutages that last no longer than 10 minutes. That being said. Sometimes the power outlets can trip. All you have to do is hit the reset button on the power outlet. Easy fix :)
The town of Dominical is a big surfing destination. The restaurants are good. Our favourites were La Casita Pizza and Del Mar Taco Shop. If you have a vehicle, we also recommend Jolly Rogers, which is only 10 min away towards Uvita.
Dominical is a central location to many beaches, national parks, wildlife and activities. Check trip advisor to help locate the things you are interested in.
Trust me when I say. Stay at this villa. You won't be disappointed.
We went with my 82 year old mother, and my 2 grown daughters of 28 and 31. The house is wonderful and comfortable. Plenty of space for everyone. It was also nice to have some English speaking TV (abc from Miami was perfect!) in a foreign country, especially since my mom couldn't go with us on some of the hikes. We mostly used the outside shower for all of our showers. We enjoyed the back patio and pool so much! We spent many hours sitting outside, and jumping in the pool when we got too hot. (That pool really saved the day!) Walking distance to the beach, and to the town and shops. It was HOT, so we enjoyed having AC in the house when we were there, and for sleeping at night. We had a rental car so we could explore the region - it was a short drive to Nauyaca Waterfalls (but we highly recommend renting a 4WD to park at the parking lot instead of on the road to save yourself 2km of walking hell each way). We did day trips to Manual Antonio Park, Haceinda Baru, Alturas Wildlife Sanctuary (also needs 4WD), snorkeling at the Whale's Tail area, and more. My daughters loved the town, the Mono Congo coffee shop, La Palma Beach Club at the end of our street. We made a reservation at the restaurant ¿Por Que No? which was a delight, or you can just go there to have drinks and watch the beautiful sunset from their bar deck. We loved every bit of it - we got to see monkeys, toucans, and sloths in the wild. We hardly wore any of the clothes we brought because it was so hot - you just need a swimsuit and something VERY light to wear. Rosa was great! It's a bit hard to find in the dark, and though we tried to get there before dark, it got dark about 15 minutes outside of Dominical, which made it hard for us to find the place. We'd love to return! It was a great house at a great location. Thank you, John and Dawn!
We stayed here with my daughter and her family. There were 6 of us very comfortable for all of us. The girls had their own bedroom, parents in another upstairs while we slept on the mail level.
The pool was a relief from the heat. We used it all the time.
We ate out most of the time just had breakfast on the patio. This location is excellent to get around and make use of the tours. Our favourite eating spot was Por Que No. The food is the best.
My daughter took her family zip lining, horse back riding to the Falls, Wild bird sanctuary.
We wouldn't recommend Manuel Antonio Park. There are too many tourists. The other tours are far superior. We ate at Tourtilla Flats and wouldn't recommend it. Mongo café is excellent.
We were able to see everything without a car. The busses are great and we went to Quepos twice.
This certainly was a very relaxing reasonable vacation.
the condo was complete with everything we needed, full kitchen, three bedrooms with separate AC units for each room, and three bathrooms. the big, open showers were a plus. the pool stayed nice and cool during our stay - many pools in the area get really warm in the hot sun.
There were five of us in our family group, and we were completely comfortable. The house had all the amenities that we needed, and is in beautiful shape. This was my first visit to Costa Rica, and I wasn't sure where we should stay. Dominical turned out to be perfect as a central location for us to go zip lining, explore the many waterfalls and swimming holes in the area, as well as Manuel Antonio National Park.in addition, the house is a two minute walk from dominical beach, which is a great spot for surfing and playing in the waves.if you'd like to explore more, there are other beautiful beaches within a short drive. One of the high spots for me was going out to eat at the many great restaurants in the area. We ate at a number of places that have good elevation due to the adjoining mountain foothills, which provide spectacular ocean views. The owners are very nice, very responsive, and the property is managed by Rosa, who is a real gem and offers great food in her "soda",our favorite breakfast spot.
We spent 2 weeks at the property with our famliy and inlaws. We had 4 children under 10 in the house and had plenty of room. The itchen was great fro cooking meals at home and the soda was right next door. Rosa helped us with lots of laundry given our crew. THe pool area was well maintained and the pool was just the right size. The location was insanely cool. We could walk to the beach and only needed a car for a few days when we wanted to go out and explore. We will be back fro sure!!
This tropical paradise has everything you will need to enjoy a relaxed, stress free vacation. If the heat is getting to you take a short walk to the Pacific Ocean and cool off, or just take a dip in your own private pool. If you prefer to relax and listen to the waves that is exactly what you can do from your front patio. There are many fantastic restaurants to eat at in Dominical. Only a minute walk from the villa is Cafe Ensueno, authentic Costa Rican food with the best tropical smoothies we have ever tasted. Or maybe pasta, sushi, or pizza? Many restaurants in town all with their own unique flair. I know the girls like to shop and there are many small shops in town with dresses, swim wear, clothes, and souvenirs. Not to mention the daily sellers that set up along the beach with all kinds of cool trinkets. There is no need to rent a car while in Dominical, everything you require is within walking distance. Our property manager Rosa will be happy to help you with anything you may want whether it be a zip-line canopy tour, a relaxing massage at the villa, a ride out on a boat to whale watch or fish, a scuba or snorkelling adventure, surf lessons or rentals, yoga and pretty much anything else Costa Rica has to offer. There are many waterfalls located in the vicinity of the villa, the closest being at Uvita a 10 minute drive down the road. We had a great time playing in the much cooler mountain waters and may have even dived off a cliff, swung on a rope swing, and slid down a fall like a water-slide. We stayed here on our last vacation and loved it so much we decided to buy the property so we can enjoy the same vacation year after year. I hope your stay is as memorable as ours, it truly is paradise.
