Large Beach House In Quiet Private Cul-De-Sac. Sleeps 12 Comfortably.

People call it the Blue Lagoon home. The official Hawaiian name for the home is "Hale 'Olu Olu", "The home of relax and comfort" which was recently given the name by Kahu Danny Akaka after a traditional Hawaiian house blessing was done for the home. The home is considered a great Hawaii beach house with nice Hawaiian decor. Park the car and walk to the beach. It’s a 5 minute walk to White Sands Beach (aka, Magic Sands Beach) and a 10 minute walk to Kahalu’u Beach Park, one of Kona’s premier snorkeling spots.

The Hale 'Olu Olu is a private home nestled in the quiet community of White Sands Estates. The home is built to feel as if you’re sleeping in the open tropical air and trees with detailed Hawaiian features throughout the home. The location is great for both the active person or just to sit and relax. After a day at the beach enjoy the sunset view from the Lanai and the living room or wash off the sand and jump in the private blue lagoon like salt water pool.

This family friendly Hawaiian beach house is a great hub for birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, wedding get together and don't forget the annual Ironman world championship.

The property is dotted with palms, fruit and plumeria trees. The home sits in a friendly and normally quiet cul-de-sac in a friendly Kona neighborhood.

The Hale 'Olu Olu is a large two story home. All bedrooms have its own private bath and entryway along with a private lanai. All the downstairs rooms have an upgraded feature of a wet bar for added convenience. The home has a separate stand-alone unit for additional privacy. Hale 'Olu Olu is great for birthdays, anniversaries and wedding get together's.

*Upstairs: Master bedroom with a queen and second family room set up to be used as a bedroom room with a futon full bed, Hawaiian armoire and office nook.

Downstairs has a bedroom with a queen, wet bar and private bath and lanai. A second and third bedrooms consist of two twins (covert-able to kings) each with its own bath, private lanai and wet bar. The separate unit consists of a queen, private bath and kitchenette. All bedrooms have a TV and wet bar. The beach home also comes with a full laundry facility, wireless and patio table for eight and an extra BBQ in the patio area.

We also have two Pak-n-Plays, high chair and three fold-aways for extra sleeping accommodations.

Other amenities include beach equipment, boogie boards, snorkel gear and three strand cruisers (bikes).

Amenities near by are White Sand Beach (aka, Magic Sands, aka La'aloa Beach) 2-3 minute walk, Khalu'u Bay a 10 minute walk for snorkeling, Kona Village 20 minute bike ride or 10 minute car ride, KTA Shopping center a 4-5 minute drive and the birth place of King Kamehameha III and all the associated historical reference just to name a few.

Water sports is extremely big on the Big Island. Banyans, a world famous surf spot is on a 2-3 minute drive located at the 2 mile marker along Ali'i drive, Snorkeling can be done just about anywhere along the coast when its calm, usually in the morning hours. There are many luanch points for paddle boarding and kayaking. Surf lessons can be conveniently taken at Kahalu'u Bay through Kahalu'u Bay Surf and Sea which is just a short distance from the Hale.

Some recent updates to the home include a new washer and dryer, new refrigerator, range, dishwasher, microwave, cushion covers, tiled lanais, O'hana lanai and new fans throughout the home.

Owners and operators Mike & Laura, married for 33 years and semi retired love to travel to the Big Island. Its our favorite island of all the islands because of its laid feel and the friendliness of the local people. Mike grew up in New Mexico and Laura in Southern California. We currently live in Southern California and look to living in Kona in the future.

Why Mike & Laura (Owners) chose Kona Coast

We love this property because of its location, close to the beach, close to snorkeling and surfing and it's quiet location. The home also fits our family well when we come out to stay. We especially love waking up in the mornings to the sounds of birds and the ocean. Our favorite thing to do is to walk down and watch the sunset every evening and come back and BBQ and site around, eat and talk on the upstairs lanai.

What makes this house unique

The feel of the home is Hawaiian in and out. Our daily routine is, early morning run or walk on Al'i Dr. walk to either Magic Sands Beach Park or Kahalu'u Beach Park to snorkel. Come home wash of the sand at the outside shower and jump into the pool, then BBQ on the Lanai and watch sunset. Get an occasional golf game in or just simply just sit and relax.

Family Vacation

Absolutely wonderful. House was spotless so much room and each bedroom has its own bath!

Ohana was perfect for my daughters little family...the pool was perfect, and the lanai off the kitchen's view of sunset was gorgeous. Walked to magic sands to swim each day veey convenient for young and old alike. The house decor was extremely tasteful and the house held everything we needed.

Highly recommend for families with children of all ages...or for couples wanting to get away.

Wonderful experience, Awesome, perfect location.

Mike & Laura thank you so much for opening up your house in Kina, one of our best times ever, the decor of the house was beautiful, the location is perfect, walking distance to beautiful beach, car ride away to see volcano, and beautiful waterfalls, something you don't see everyday, we took my family with teen age girls, they loved it, while at the house, we BBQ, got in pool.

The house is in a perfect spot close to snorkeling, beach, shopping, got to see the most beautiful sunsets. Thank you.

Bucket List Vacation

Today is our last day - I'm always happy to go home after a vacation, but this time around I'm a little sad about it. This has been an amazing, unforgettable trip for my family, and our accommodations made us feel as though we've been home this entire stay. We are blessed to have found such a place. The location is fantastic - a close walk to 2 different beaches and a short drive (just a few minutes) to the grocery store, restaurants, shopping and church. It's clean, comfortable, spacious, has plenty of towels (bath and beach), a well-stocked pantry, a well-stocked shed (boogie boards, beach chairs and mats, sand toys, life jackets, snorkeling gear, bikes), a clean pool with lounge chairs and plenty of flotation devices.

Aloha in the form of a home

A group of us including my wife, our three little rascals (ages 9, 6, and 2), grandparents and cousins stayed at the Blue Lagoon Kona Rental this past May for 10 days. We were aiming to have a local experience and have the right amenities to help us do all the amazing things the Big Island has to offer. With close proximity to the beach, snorkling, town, and good eats, this house was the perfect getaway home. Featuring 6 rooms, a fully equipped kitchen, lanai with outdoor grill, laundry inside, and plenty of parking space, our family was able to comfortably enjoy our stay. The house was clean and well maintained. With a large group and kids, it can be challenging having three meals a day for more than a week at restaurants. The kitchen was perfect for cooking home-made meals and having snacks at your disposal. The refrigerator is big and had lots of storage space to accommodate us after our run to nearby Costco and Target. Having a laundry inside was a big help specially since we were able to wash any clothes or swimming wear at any given time. Did I mention the pool? My first thought was that we weren't going to use the pool since the ocean is so near. But now I see the pool was one of the best amenities the house had to offer. Enjoying a nice swim after the beach or some late afternoon swimming with the kids, it was hard not to go in it more than once a day. The house faces west and the sunsets can be watched from the lanai, dining room, or living room while grubbing on some dinner or drinking a nice Mai Tai. One of my personal favorite things to do while staying here was to walk to the beach at sunrise and/or sunset to enjoy the view with the kids. As for the kids, they couldn't get enough of the pool and having their breakfast while looking out to the ocean.

We had previously visited the Big Island and stayed at the hotel in town. However, it always felt as if we weren't able to experience Hawaii without having to exit the hotel room and leave the resort. In the contrary, this home lets you live the Aloha spirit while being inside or outside. I have recommended this place to our family and friends and hope to be able to stay here again in the not so far future. Thanks to Mike and Laura for sharing their amazing place and providing a perfect vacation home for our family.

Very nice

Very well kept home, nicely decorated , and beautiful back yard and pool. The location was very convenient and we enjoyed the bikes and pool ! The bedrooms all had own bathrooms which was very nice. Kitchen is well appointed and great. Our only complaint is the lack of air conditioning-- I know most homes in Hawaii don't have AC BUT It is very hot in June. The breezes help at night but the back house really doesn't get much of a breeze even at night. The daytime is sticky and hot with Hawaiis tropical climate - a couple of window units would make a world of improvement in summer months.

The house mgr, Cassie, was wonderful and everything else was great! We loved the big island and this lovely home! Definitely recommend !

Owner's Response: Aloha Ann, Mahalo for your feedback. We have placed a lot of effort into making the kitchen as accommodating as we can for guest. Home away from home type of thing. As for a window AC unit in the O'hana, we've tried this and because of how the O'hana is designed its not compatible. What we did though was add two ceiling fans and as of today we purchased a stand-up remote control 3-speed fan to help. We've received positive feedback from the current guest on adding the 3-speed fan. We appreciate any recommendations and do hope to see back in the future. Mahalo - Mike & Laura
