Jim and Sharon have created a perfect retreat in a beautiful setting. You have everything you need.

  • 5 of 5

Swans Island is remarkable. The people are friendly, helpful and happy to share stories. Jim recommended a trip to the library, which, through a collection of oral histories, provided insight to the fierce pride islanders have in their home. There is much to see, and many places to slow down and think about things.

Thanks, Jim and Sharon!

Owner's Response: Melody, Thank you for your kind compliments. We strive to create a memorable experience in a pay it forward manner. We arrived here on impulse, and now feel attached to the strong feelings and traditions shared by the generations of " real islanders" that have inhabited Swan's Island. The Library's collection of oral histories provide a visitor with a rare glimpse into Coastal Maine's history at a very personal level. We hope you are able to return to experience more - the trails you missed on your too short visit, the SIES MARINE MUSEUM, a church supper, an island community breakfast at the IOOF Hall, Friday night movie night at the library...and much more. Thank you, Jim&Sharon Stone

The perfect host!

  • 5 of 5

Jim and Sharon Stone are wonderful host! We had a great time on Swan's Island. The room is exactly as described and the bed is very comfortable. Jim gave us the contact information to purchase lobster from a local fisherman and he even picked up the lobster and had the pots with water and salt all ready for us when we arrived Thursday evening. They provided us with a list to things on the island, including maps. We drove to the lighthouse, hiked around the quarry pond, hiked to fine sand beach, had a picnic on the point, and ate the best sticky buns from TIMS Store on Saturday morning! We only stayed two nights and I would recommend at least 3. We both look so forward to coming back. Thank you Jim and Sharon!!!

Delightful! Hope to return!

  • 5 of 5

We were well informed about our stay and the accommodations were as promised. My husband and I would love to return to this island and especially this property! We were treated as guests with all our questions answered and valuable assistance from the owners about the island. This place is a hidden treasure!

One must be prepared, there are no restaurants and the store has minimal supplies.

Owner's Response: Terry, thank you for the kind review. We try to make our guests feel welcome. You have to enjoy vacationing off the beaten path when you travel to an unabridged Maine coastal island. It was a pleasure having you as guests. Come back and experience more of the island. Jim/Sharon

Wonderful little hideaway

  • 4 of 5

Jim and Sharon have a well provisioned place here with peace and quiet all around. Easy access to kayak and other water launches a short drive away at the Club House if you bring them. Grill provided with all you need. Bring all the food you want as supplies are not plentiful on the island. If you are at all tall, you’ll need to watch your head on sloping ceilings with some tight spaces.

Jim and Sharon are wonderful hosts with a very nice place here to get away from everything.

I hope to come back next year!

  • 5 of 5

Jim and Sharon couldn't be nicer. They gave us great directions over the phone to get to their secluded property, tucked deep in a thick evergreen forest along a rural road. The property is surrounded by the woods, chirping squirrels and the occasional visit from deer nearby, and it's a quick walk to the coast.

Jim was an excellent host--he explained everything about the house, gave us a thorough orientation to the island and had some great recommendations on where we could take our dog off leash / for a swim (as some beaches are off-limits to dogs during the day). We spent a week in the Acadia National Park region, but our two days on Swan's Island were definitely the highlight of the trip.

The big reason I chose to stay here was because it was dog friendly, but the island was a huge bonus in the end. It is so beautiful and off the beaten path-- practically no tourists (or restaurants or bars) are really on the island. There is an inn that does breakfast sometimes, and a small market with anything you need. I think the locals like to keep the island a secret from the throngs of tourists, and Jim and Sharon made this amazing place accessible to us, as a lot of the roads/paths don't have signs and we never would've found the best views if they hadn't shown us where to go. So if you're looking for a secluded place to chill out and relax, have coffee on the porch while watching the sunrise, and have great hosts next door to help you with anything, this is the place for you.

Jim and Sharon really care about their guests having a good time, even after their stay, and gave us some good recommendations for the rest of our trip through Acadia (hint: go to the secluded Schoodic Peninsula - it's worth it).

Great time and perfect accommodations

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful quaint accommodations. We had a short stay and this was perfect for us. We were able to see a lot of the island and hiked a lot. In the evenings we sat on the back deck in piece and quiet. Jim and Sharon we so helpful and accommodating. Offered advice and great suggestions. We both felt that went above and beyond to make our anniversary a memorable one. We can’t wait to go back
