We are a busy family of four with two teenage sons. I am originally from New York City and my husband from St. Louis. We presently live full-time in Northampton, MA.
Deb Bernardini purchased this house in 2007
This property has been a wonderful family getaway for us since purchased in 2007. It is lovingly maintained, has a warm, inviting and comfortable vibe.
Rental includes a separate on-property sleeping cabin in the woods w/bed and wood burning stove. Entire property and home is dog-friendly!
My family (teenagers and some extended family who stopped in) enjoyed the location and the home. Deb's recommendations for eating, shopping, etc. were spot on. Although I grew up in New England, I had not vacationed in the Berkshires before. It was thoroughly enjoyable.
We are a family of young adult children and parents wanting to explore the Berkshires. We were there for one week in August. Loved everything about this property. Nestled in the woods with easy access to Great Barrington, Tanglewood, MassMOCA, Stockton and lots of hiking. The house was very clean with a well equipped kitchen and bathroom. The house was comfortable with great outdoor space; from the fire pit to the small cabin in the back of the property (our sons' favorite spot), to the decking and screened in porch. The birdwatching was quite entertaining.
Deb - the owner was so helpful providing information about the area and very responsive to any questions.
We found great local restaurants and enjoyed walking to the waterfalls and marshlands nearby.
Would recommend this to families with or without children. We would stay here again if we returned to the area.
A true gem.
We stayed for a very long weekend. This home is nestled away in the woods of the Berkshires. Close enough to everything you could possibly need but far enough to make you think long and hard about getting "un-nestled".
Stay for a weekend or a week. You won't be disappointed. You won't want to leave either!
Such a lovely property with multiple places to explore--a nice little fire pit, a very pleasant stream bed that picks up after rains, and a separate one-room cabin just far enough into the woods to make it feel private. Lovely kitchen, nice patio outside with a great little screened-in room for relaxing while enjoying the breeze. Easy drive to get groceries. Wonderful response from the hosts. Thank you! It was wonderful.
We had a wonderful week in the Berkshires and loved staying in your charming home. The woodsy location is just what we were looking for. We were able to take advantage of the beautiful setting, walk to the waterfalls, make s'mores at the fire pit, and snuggle around the wood burning stove. We were also able to easily take advantage of the activities and restaurants in Great Barrington and other surrounding towns. The house was immaculate and extremely well-equipped for all our needs. We appreciated the quick responses to the questions we had and the owners' warm hospitality. We were visited by our grandchildren and their parents and a great time was had by all. Hope we get to come again!
You couldn't ask for a better place to spend a crisp fall weekend in New England. The house was snug and comfortable for the whole range of ages in our party (75 at the high end, 1 at the low end, with an elderly dog along for good measure). We made excellent use of the wood stove, enjoyed making dinner in the open, accommodating kitchen and watching birds at the feeder attached to the deck. Outside the house, we enjoyed exploring the property and doing one of the walks the owners recommended, to fabulous effect on a fall day. We'll be back.
Home is steps from a nature preserve with pond and established walking trail to a separate sleeping cabin. It's a short walk to the beautiful Umpachene Falls.
