Rented for our daughters college graduation and wedding
Beautiful neighborhood, lots of room, wonderful to have large bathrooms and ample beds!! We hope to rent again!
What a grand family reunion to attend our Niece’s wedding and reception parties! The house was perfect for us to come home to and relax in between all the festivities. A three mile round walking path around a beautiful lake was a great activity, and close to groceries, Target and Starbucks, the necessities of life. Would love to return in the fall or summer!!
Beautiful setting on Lake Phalen!
We enjoyed using the home as our "Sister's Weekend" Getaway location. It worked so well for us as we enjoyed both St. Paul and Minneapolis destinations during the weekend. There was someone in the home when we checked in; and she scurried out one of the doors. It would have been much better had she let us know who she was and maybe that she was just leaving; rather than to leave abruptly making us feel a bit uncomfortable. We assumed it was a cleaning person, but don't know for sure. I was a little surprised that we had to supply toilet paper or facial tissues; and think for the cost to rent, this would be a small amenity to include. We also thought the charge for cleaning should include vacuuming rather than to have us vacuum prior to departure.
I'm glad you enjoyed you stay at Lake Phalen Place. The cleaning company is aware of check in times, so I'll have to make sure they stay on schedule. Basic supplies such as toilet paper are supplied upon arrival by the cleaning company, an oversight I'm sure There is noting in the rental agreement that said vacuuming is required.
House lacks the feel of the lake
The beds were not comfortable. In the den/bedroom, in the middle of the night, you could hear the sound of a motor running in the basement. I was surprised by the amount of cleaning the owner required prior to checking out. When you pay a cleaning fee you shouldn't be required to vacuum the whole house. I expected the kitchen to be cleaner. The buttons and knobs on the stove and microwave were greasy. The oven was dirty. Windows need cleaning. I had to wash several items before I could use them. There were dirty dishes in the dishwasher when we arrived. The outdoor space was small and uninviting. Lacks privacy. We spent our time in the kitchen or out of the house. The living room is dark and the furniture is uncomfortable. We rented the house because it was across the street from the lake. The house lacks the feel of the lake.
Our regular cleaner had a baby of July 20th so our replacement cleaner didn't do a very good job. Our regular cleaner plans to return by Aug 15th. There is no motor running in the basement of Lake Phalen Place. The outdoor space is a huge front yard overlooking Lake Phalen. The living room is light & bright with 10 foot ceilings with Hugh windows.
At Home near the Lake
AS advertsied, the property had ample space for the ten of us who stayed there. Everythign we needed was within twenty minutes--airport, shopping, groceries, sightseeing. The lake was inviting, with the beach and the boat races and the paddle boats. Just an overall fine experience.
Lake Phalen Place is central to everything the twin cities has to offer.
10 Minutes to downtown St. Paul
15 Minutes to downtown Minneapolis
20 Minutes to Historic Stillwater
Mall of America & International Airport
20 minutes away
On Lake Phalen you can rent boats, lounge on the beach or enjoy walking the 3 mile path around the majestic lake.
