About Nancy or George Roberts
George grew up a missionary kid in Zimbabwe, and met Nancy in California. After raising two boys, they set out to find their perfect paradise, Santa Fe, although they call the world their home. Avid travelers, they have been to 75 countries. They are devotees of Argentine Tango, and love dogs of all kinds.
Nancy or George Roberts purchased this Cottage in 2001
Why Nancy or George Roberts chose Santa Fe
The property is unusual as it is so close to downtown, yet on two view acres. Most people say it is the best view they've seen in Santa Fe, and Sun Mountain is literally at your back door. Close to everything yet in a peaceful paradise, we felt completely blessed to be able to purchase this property, and now share it with you. The house was built in 1930, and the floors are old 18 in wide plank pine...a rarity now. Harold Littlefield built the place and we've done our best to restore it, and not change it much. We call it rustic elegance.
What makes this Cottage unique
Well, to us and our friends, this property has soul, as soon as you turn in the long driveway, shaded by pinons. The views will take your breath away, as Santa Fe skies change each hour. You can watch summer storms come in and go out all across the valley, from Albuquerque to some say, Colorado. The living room floor has 18 inch wide boards from the 1930's and vigas across the living room ceiling. The Jotul fireplace heats the whole casita. Charm oozes from each room, with lovely original art, to the mosaic bathroom. Bird feeders are all around, and the curved walls of the patio drip with purple wisteria in the summer, framing other flowers. You won't want to leave!

Best of Both Worlds
The casita was clean, the bed was comfortable and the casita size is perfect for two people. We never met Nancy and George but they were there if we had any problems or questions. The best part of staying on this property was the beautiful setting that seemed miles away from everything but yet was within minutes from the Plaza. We spent every evening sitting out on the private patio enjoying the cool summer nights while watching amazing sunsets over Santa Fe. We highly recommend visiting Museum Hill, especially the Folk Art Museum with a docent tour. We loved our stay and hope to return some day soon.
Thank you Rebecca! We are so glad that you enjoyed the covenient yet private location of the casita, the cozyness, the views and Santa Fe! It overjoys us to be a part of that as we also love our little casita and Santa Fe. Thank you for staying and you are welcome back anytime, shall you wish to return! All Good Things, Nancy and George
A lovely casita nestled in the mountains of Santa Fe. A perfect setting to enjoy the stunning NM sunsets with easy access to the plaza.
Communication with the owners was fantastic and the check-in process was very simple.
Would absolutely recommend this casita for those looking for a peaceful trip to Santa Fe.
Love this casita!!!!!!!
We have been coming to Santa Fe for years. This is our all time favorite casita. Especially, love the patio and the view. Convenient to town and Museum Hill. We will definitely be back!!!!!!
Cozy charm and extraordinarily perfect patio for sunsets!
We loved that we could see out across the city whether we were on the patio or inside, enjoying the gas fire in the living room. Everything was very comfortable and special touches, like the living room skylight, brought New Mexico beauty inside. The kitchen is tiny as many have mentioned, but we managed fine and just did dishes more often! :-))
The Sun Mountain trail was steep for us -- daunting on first hike in a couple of years! Nancy suggested trying out the lower half of the trail, and that worked out perfectly. We also found great sunny hikes (while it was snowing/raining/cloudy in higher mountains) at the Galisteo Basin -- try Cafe Fina if you head out that way. The casita is located near the southeast part of town, very convenient to the Basin. We had an easy time getting around the city -- a short drive to Canyon Rd and downtown and the Railroad District. We loved being in a natural setting and yet, very close to city perks.
If you want perfectly pristine, this casita may not be best for you since the kitchen is small and a little dated. If you're looking for a place that is cared for and where you can walk into nature from the front door or enjoy birds in the morning and sunsets in the evenings, this is a great spot!
Thanks Mary! Our pleasure to host you and we are so pleased that you enjoyed our quaint casita that is embeded in nature, yet close to the city. You are welcome back anytime. All Good Things! Nancy and George
Very charming with spectacular views - close to town and museums.
Perfect place for two people who don't expect to cook much as the kitchen is very small. But the views and overall feel of the casita make up for that. So many nice restaurants close by for take-out to enjoy on the lovely terrace and soak up the sun. We stayed in the winter with heavy snows and below zero temps! The gas stove was perfect for warmth and atmosphere.
Thanks Cyndy! It was indeed a cold winter, glad you were still able to enjoy the casita and Santa Fe. We understand that kitchen is tiny, just scaled for the size of the home really. Thank you for staying and taking good care of our home, and we are happy you had a good time. Happy New Year!
Great get-a-away before the holidays
My boyfriend and I stayed here for 4 nights before the holidays. I loved that it felt like we could get out of town but at the same time it's a short drive the the main square in Santa Fe. We had our three dogs with us and it was nice for them to have some space to run and we took them on a hike up Sun Mountain everyday - the trial head is really close. The accommodations were cozy and I loved the fireplace stove. The views from here are incredible - a great place to stay! Thanks for sharing our home with us!
Brandy! Nice that you, your boyfriend and the dogs loved our casita. Thank you for taking good care of it. We too love the space and privacy, yet proximity to town. And Sun Mountain is indeed a plus as well. You are welcome back anytime. Happy New Year!
