We've always had a passion for building and renovating homes, and gardening. We relocated from Corvallis to Bend in 1990, and have never looked back. We raised our daughter here, and consider Bend to be our home.
Linda Brundage purchased this studio in 2000
A realtor friend found this property for us. It was a diminutive 447 square feet with a sagging roof, windows askew, and no foundation! And so of course, we fell in love with it and had to have it. Of all the building/remodeling projects we've ever taken on, this is the one we knew was special. After much research, planning, and conversations with the local Historic Society, we embarked on the adventure of restoring (and adding to...) the property. This home is a true gem. We are proud to offer it as a vacation rental; your temporary home away from home.
Perched on a rock outcropping on a corner lot, facing south, overlooking the old mill area. Imagine living here at the turn of the century, raising a family, working, being part of a community.
We love Bend and visit often. This studio is a gem. We love to walk wherever we can and the location is perfect for that. As in any downstairs unit, there can be noise from the floor above which may or may not bother some. Linda is a delight to speak with and is very responsive. Thank you Linda we look forward to coming back in the future.
Such a prime location to stay in Bend. Cozy, well kept studio within walking distance to downtown. Full kitchen and laundry included! Beats staying in hotel at a better price point! The owners were amazing and they've done a great job with the place.
My boyfriend and I were in town to do some mountain biking and visit with friends. Linda's studio was great. It was centrally located, very clean, and equipped. It's the perfect place for a couple to stay. It's a well lit, cozy basement apartment, with a fully equipped kitchen, and bathroom. Linda was very accommodating. We booked last minute (same day), and wanted to stay an extra day at the end of the trip. Linda promptly emailed me back and added on the extra day. We had a wonderful stay, and will definitely be back.
We are a retired couple who stayed here in September 2016. The studio is small, but seems bigger than it is, because it is well laid out. I really liked the decorative touches Linda had added. We cooked several meals and the kitchen was large and well stocked enough with pots, dishes and utensils to make that easy to do. Having a washer and dryer - priceless! Linda was very easy to contact if we had a question and was so easy to deal with. The whole process was seamless. The location was perfect for walking downtown and to the Choice Market (reminded us of Whole Foods) practically just around the corner. We enjoyed exploring Bend, Mt. Bachelor, Sisters and even made a day trip to Crater Lake from this little home away from home. A wonderful addition to the experience was getting to make new friends when visiting with our upstairs neighbors, who were a great couple. If we get a chance to return to Bend, we will stay here again.
This is a cute little house with a basement unit which is where we stayed. The room was sparse but nice and just as described in the VRBO ad. We had toasted squash bread the first morning that set off a very, very sensitive smoke detector which was a little uncomfortable but fortunately no one else was staying in the upper unit. The bathroom was ok, the shower curtain needed to be replaced but otherwise it was clean though more like a closet with a shower, toilet and sink! This neighborhood was the highlight - you can walk to the cute part of old Bend which is central to everything we wanted to do. There was a laundry room where we could safely lock up our bikes and Linda was easy to work with. If you want a modest but clean and close in place to stay in Bend this is a good value. If you want a little extra (no television, just Netflix), and not be subterranean this would not be a good fit.
