About Marie Yarborough
We have lived in Bar Harbor for over 20 years. Marie began working at the Jordan Pond House during summers, earning money to pay for college. After traveling to France to visit family, a road-trip across the United States, and finishing graduate school she moved to MDI for good. Kyle came to Acadia after graduating from college in the South. He planned to work in different national parks across the country. After working in Glacier National Park in Montana, he headed to Acadia for one season, where Marie and Kyle's paths finally crossed. The rest is history! We now own and operate a small bistro in Bar Harbor and Marie is a Ranger at Acadia. We feel lucky to call this amazing place home, and could not imagine raising our young family anywhere else.

Why Marie Yarborough chose Bar Harbor
This property is close to everything wonderful about in-town Bar Harbor, but still quiet and residential-the best of both worlds. You can sleep with your windows open and smell the ocean when you wake. It is modern, clean, uncluttered, and filled with all the amenities you'll need to make your stay relaxing. We have a personal and professional knowledge of the park and MDI, and would love to share our favorite spots to enjoy the park and island with you.
What makes this House unique
You won't find an easier, more convenient place to stay in Bar Harbor, if you are a family or a couple! You can walk to the Great Meadow Path right from the cottage, or hop in your car to access the Park Loop Road in 5 minutes, at the end of our street.

Nice place on opposite end of town!
House was very nice. We liked that it was away from town for privacy. As long as you don't mind the walk it's totally worth it. Our suggestions would be to add some kind of air conditioning, even if just the master bedroom, for days that are 75 and up. Does get hot at night even with fans. Also a night light at the top of the stairs. There is a ledge that was tripped over in the middle of the night. Overall we did enjoy our stay and would recommend it to others.
Everything was as expected. Well maintained property. Marie was very timely responding to us and great to work with!
Cute Cottage - but a bit dated
We spent the week here and absolutely loved the location! So close to town, parks and the area was so adorable... although the house was a bit dated - after our stay I looked at other reviews and realized most were from 3+ years ago - the furniture is dated, rugs have seen better days, bedding needs updating and the kitchen floor needed some TLC - we spent a lot of time outdoors as the house wasn't as comfy and cozy as we would have hoped.
Hi Alissa, Thanks for your review! I am so glad you agree the house is the perfect location and the area adorable. I do want to clear up some some your suggestions, for future renters: I have to admit I am a bit shocked to read your suggestion that the furniture, bedding and kitchen floor are dated. The couch is brand-new, 2018. It is so new, that I never had a chance to update the picture on the listing this summer before our first guests arrived (note: I still have the light blue couch showing on the website, not the new, smoke-gray couch.) The flooring in the kitchen was re-done with the total kitchen remodel in 2014 and is in perfect shape-not sure what you mean by "needing TLC." As for the bedding,I do wonder if you had some advanced, specific, personal preferences with bedding, though, because you let me know 2 weeks in advance that you were bringing your own bedding and towels, and asked me not to make the beds, because you liked to travel with your own bedding and towels... I nevertheless instructed the housekeeper to make all the beds as I feel it is not very welcoming to walk into a home with unmade beds, which seemed fine with you because you simply unmade them and used your own sheets and towels that you traveled on vacation with. I am so sorry you felt uncomfortable in the house-this is literally the first time any reviewer has ever felt anything but comfortable and cozy, and certainly the first time any renter has suggested our cottage and amenities are anything but clean, uncluttered, modern, and well-kept.
Ideal location and place to stay in Bar Harbor, ME
Chickadee Cottage is in an ideal location making it a great place to stay in Bar Harbor, ME. We were within walking distance of the Bar Harbor business district with all of the fun restaurants and places to shop and also had easy access to the Acadia National Park loop road. Accommodations and amenities were great making the cottage a nice home away from home. We really enjoyed our stay at Chickadee Cottage and highly recommend it for families.
We're so glad you enjoyed Chickadee Cottage and Bar Harbor. Hope to see you back again soon.
Cottage was perfect for our family. Clean, spacious, excellent location.
Marie was a great host - quick to respond and accommodating to our needs. The cottage was perfect for our week in Bar Harbor. Loved being able to walk everywhere in town along with having just a short drive to Acadia NP. Would highly recommend!
Thank for the kind words, Katie. So glad you enjoyed everything!
Great apartment in town.
We really enjoyed our stay. The kitchen was well-stocked. The home is in close proximity to the heart of town.
So glad you enjoyed everything in the house, as well as the location! It was great meeting you!
