My 2 children and I stayed in the apartment for 5 nights and we truly enjoyed living amongst 'native' Parisians, with all the wonderful sights and sounds! The location is fabulous - close to the metro and within walking distance of many attractions. It is also close to amenities including supermarket, restaurants, post office, ATM etc. Nancy's tips and advice, based on her own experiences, prior to arrival were extremely useful.
This apartment is centrally located. If you are a walker like we are, then you will enjoy this apartment. From here you can walk pretty much anywhere around Paris. We loved the fact that we were two blocks from the Louvre museum. We jogged along the Seine daily. It was awesome. There are two subway stops near the place as well so that you can save your legs from excessive walking. The food around the apartment was also delicious. The bakery a few doors down was our favorite. You must try the many deserts and sandwiches. The aprtment itself is small but that is a trade-off we were comfortable with. It is a quaint practical apartment that gives you the flavor of being a Parisian. My 11 year old son complained about the noise from the bars below but he was a trooper and slept through night. It is on the fifth floor so pack lightly unless you are ready for a sweat-a-thon. Fernando was great. He was friendly and gave us practical advice. Nancy was helpful from the start. I am recommending this spot to my family. If you want to use the money saved for delicious food, then this place is for you. I would return and rent this from Nancy.
My wife and I stayed in the Mona Lisa flat for 9 nights in late December-early January and loved it. The flat was clean, the wi-fi was awesome, bedroom was quiet, and the compact kitchen had everything we needed. The location was perfect, close to the metro and all kinds of restaurants, shops and attractions.
Nancy was a pleasure to deal with, and Fernando was very helpful with our luggage and tips for the flat.
The 104 stairs up to the flat were a little daunting at first, but after a few days we got used to them.
The heaters warmed the flat up quickly, and we always had hot water. We also used the free phone to call home to the states a few times, a nice bonus. We felt very secure in the flat with the double- locking door.
There was even a nice selection of books to read, many of them vacation oriented guides which proved helpful. The bedroom in the back of the flat, off the street, was very quiet at night. There is a nice tapas bar and some restaurants below and across the street from the building and we got a little street noise at times, but it was never a problem and you couldn't hear street noise at all in the bedroom. We definitely felt staying in the Mona Lisa in Arrondisement 1 was the best location in the city. We are already looking forward to returning to the Mona Lisa as soon as we can. Nancy and Fernando, thanks for making our stay so easy!
This apartment was perfect! Such a central location that we were able to walk everywhere. There are many great restaurants within a few blocks, several markets for groceries and the apartment was cozy, clean and welcoming.
My title is in reference to the ongoing flights of old, wooden stairs to reach the top floor apartment...which means that you're at the top of the building and that you're going to have to take a break on floor 4, just for a spell. At first, it was a bother. Then it became a ritual. And then it was home. And worth every step.
I shared this apartment with my sister and we loved it. When we woke very early on the second morning after a deep, jet-lagged sleep, we rose to the misty dawn and went for our first walk in Paris...which was down the the center of the Louvre through the Tuileries, then back along the Seine--all starting just over a block from this apartment. It doesn't get better than this location, I promise!
There are boisterous bars down below the apartment but you can't hear the nighttime hub from the off-street bedroom. The shower has good pressure and the water is HOT (be careful!). Otherwise, it's clean and well-sized for a Paris apartment, which we loved. And the wifi is fast and easy.
I'll definitely return here. It's a great spot. And I had a delicious meal at a small brasserie at the end of the street: pork cheeks in a deep red wine sauce that's perfect for sopping up with baguette.
Nancy, the proprietor, is quick to respond and helps sort out everything. Made it easy to rent and simple to want to come back to.
We are a family of three (one teen daughter) and we stayed in the flat for just shy of a week. It was a wonderful flat with an amazing location. So central to the Metro and just a block to the Louvre. The stairs to the 5th floor may seem daunting but were beautiful to look at as we ascended, since they seem original to the building. Each day felt like we were going back in time to a dreamy Paris one usually can only imagine. The flat had WI FI - (vital to any teen with limited international data) and also had a phone that one could use. The layout of the flat worked great for our small family. The living room had two couches that convert to a bed at night. A cafe table and small kitchen were great to have for mornings. The windows out provided a view of the rooftops one usually sees only in movies. We also loved that there was an amazing bakery just downstairs as well as laundry across the street. If you have a budget but want the moon and stars at your window this is your flat.
We stayed at this apartment in May of 2014, and absolutely loved it.
The living room was spacious (rare in Paris!) with high ceiling and wooden beams, and the kitchen was well equipped. The apartment was so comfortable that we felt immediately “lived in” within hours . Amenities were awesome: free Wi-Fi (and worked well), CNN and BCC for news, and ability to make free phone calls was a nice touch. Iron, hair dryer, you name it. Only thing is the washer/dryer combo machine didn’t work so well. Washing mode was fine, but the dryer mode doesn’t work. However, the apartment faces a public Laundromat so the option is there.
Location is perfect: WE took RER from CDG to Chatalet/Les Halles, and walked a few blocks. During our stay, we easily walked from the apartment to Marais, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, La Madeleine (Fauchon and Hediard), Opera, Lafayette, Louvre and Concorde… All within reason (just make sure you have a good pair of walking shoes!) The location was so convenient for us!
Almost on a daily basis, we walked FranPrix (Grocery store) is ½ block away to get our daily stuff. It was truly “home away from home”!
We love this apartment, and Nancy was awesome to work with. We will definitely come back to this apartment soon!!!!
