Our property is located 34.5 miles south of the Kailua-Kona airport (KOA) , this beautifully maintained Hawaiian’ a style single family home, away from home, boasts 180° of unobstructed pacific ocean views, modern amenities, and a large covered, open and breezy lanai. The home is one story-NO stairs. Easy access. And fantastic one of a kind VIEWS!!
The home is in a beautiful cliffside community, close to the water, close to town and close to Volcano National Park (Kilauea). This is where you come for peace and quiet. To stare at the stars, listen to the waves crash and hear tropical birds and wild animals every day. If you want to hang in Kona - you're only a 45 minute drive a way.
The property is set on ancient lava flows, overlooking the vast pacific ocean, the King's Trail, an ancient volcanic cinder cone, a private pebble beach (1/2 mile away by car-4 minutes to the water), and some of the best snorkeling/diving on the Kona coast (NO Sand). The water is so perfect for diving and snorkeling, that the infamous Aggressor dive boat anchors off our community's coastline daily.
We call our hale (house) Blue Hawaii. It is our way of taking you back to a simpler time. We have made every effort to immerse you in Hawaiian history while keeping amenities modern, comfortable, and functional to create a memorable stay.
Entering this contemporary, single level, 3 bedroom, 2 full bath, private home in Kona Paradise the views instantly mesmerize you. You find yourself drawn to the sky, the water, and the lulling sounds of the ocean lapping the pebble beach below. Falling asleep to these sounds every night may make you want to stay here forever, it did us.
Blue Hawaii comfortably sleeps 2-6 adults, with one Cal-king bed in the master which has an oversized closet with additional storage in end tables and credenza, a safe, and a television with remote. The master bath en-suite is the mirror of the guest bath with hammered copper sink, medicine cabinet, ceiling fan, tile shower with arched shower rod.
The guest bedrooms have queens beds with side tables and lamps. All bedrooms have new pillow top mattresses, Tommy Bahama luxury linens, remote controlled ceiling fans with lights, closets with a large supply of wooden hangers, blankets, luggage racks, hanging organizers and rattan baskets for storage.
The guest bath has a linen closet with extra towels, linens, blankets and a fixed amount of daily supplies: paper towels, toilet paper, kleenex, a hair dryer, 5 gallon water jugs, led ceiling light and clothing steamer. The home is completely hypoallergenic.
The living room has a dark leather sofa, with a custom-built oversized teak upholstered chair, a custom-built teak and leather sling chair with matching ottoman, teak coffee table, two teak end tables with lamps and entryway credenza. The floors are tile throughout and there are area rugs in the living room, guest rooms, and both baths.
This newly remodeled home features open beam ceilings in the great room which includes a new spacious kitchen with dark hardwood cabinets with soft close drawers, granite counter tops, under counter LED dimmable lighting, a breakfast bar with two woven wood sitting stools and a 42" round glass top bamboo dining table with four matching bamboo dining chairs with custom cushions.
The kitchen boasts new stainless appliances including side by side refrigerator (not plumbed), ceramic top electric range with full-size oven, convection microwave, dual deep stainless sinks, garbage disposal, dishwasher and cold water dispenser.
Kitchen amenities include: Keurig K-Cup single serve, 10 cup drip (with filters), French press coffee makers, coffee grinder, electric kettle, a full set of Circulon cookware, Kitchenaid knives, Nutri Bullet smoothie maker, Oster blender, food processor, four slot toaster, waffle iron, hand mixer, salad spinner, cookie sheets, cupcake/muffin pan, rice cooker, Panini/sandwich toaster, cooking/baking utensils, Pyrex bake/cookware, juicer, colander, party cooler, BBQ Utensils, silverware, daily & entertainment drinkware, serving bowls with lids and dishes for 12.
Looking through the great room two oversized sliding Low-E glass doors offer access to the large covered lanai, creating an indoor/outdoor living space. All indoor living spaces have ceiling fans and Low-E insulated windows with screens and window coverings.
The lanai is nothing but ocean views and tropical breezes. An electric BBQ, cushioned swivel conversation set with brass relief side table and glass top dining table for 4-6 make this the place to be every day of your stay. The Balinese daybed offers an area to relax, read, listen to music or just gaze at the view. The sunsets from here are amazing. Extra chairs and ottomans make it comfy and give lots of seating options inside and out.
Technology includes 55 inch LCD TV (in living room with Bose sound system, cable TV, and blu ray DVD player), 32 inch LCD smart TV (in master suite with cable TV), speedy internet access, and land line phone with free local & long distance.
There are a plethora of flyers and discount coupons for local island attractions, tours, shopping, awaiting your perusal.
The majority of the home is labeled to make getting to know the house faster and easier. There is also a “Welcome” binder on the coffee table, which includes all the information you will need during your stay. This information is also in the "Hospitality" application suggested for download when you book your vacation with us. (You’ll want it as it gives you the door codes and the property address 14 days before you arrive). The application is your default for info for your trip.
For fun and entertainment we include DVD’s, games, Hawaiian’ a literature, beach toys, beach towels, beach blanket, woven beach mats, ice chest, snorkel sets, boogie boards, water noodles, beach chairs and an umbrella.
We have a guest laundry area that has a new electric front-loading Whirlpool Duet Washer and Dryer, wash sink, folding table and a place to air dry beach wear and store beach gear.
Our staff thoroughly cleans after each guest departs. We charge for this cleaning and you will see it in your quote. It is non-negotiable and we pay this amount directly to our staff. Daily Housekeeping is available for an extra charge. You must let us know at least 30 days in advance to make arrangements for you. It will be a direct contract with our cleaning service. We take nothing additional for this service.

Our busy lives working in Event Production and Escrow Signings left little time to enjoy our vacations, so as we started to approach retirement age we wanted to find a home we could enjoy and share for years to come. So when the opportunity finally presented itself, we jumped on it. We call our little piece of heaven 'Blue Hawaii'. And when you see it you'll know why.

A friend offered up his Kona Vacation Rental to us for Thanksgiving 2013. We arrived at the airport, got our rental car and stopped as suggested at Costco on the way down. After stocking up on a week's worth of supplies like coffee, steaks, wine, and beer, we headed south. When we saw the Kona Paradise sign, made the right hand turn onto Kaohe Road and started down that winding, breathtaking hill, we knew we were in for something beyond special-it was spectacular.
After unloading the car, we found ourselves mesmerized by the most amazing 180° coastal views of the Kona coast. This wasn't just a vacation rental on an island in the pacific - this was a stunningly beautiful oasis that we had all to ourselves for a whole week.
We could hear the ocean raking over the black pebbles on the beach below us. We watched for whales breaching, and dolphins cruising the coastline looking for fun and frolic. We slept among the stars out on the lanai the entire time and swore that if an opportunity arose we would make this area our home some day. In 2014, we purchased Blue Hawaii. Our dream come true. It brought peace and serenity to our hearts and minds. Took us from our hustle and bustle go-go-go lifestyle on the mainland and brought us back to what was important. Us. Happy and laid back. We had an amazing time staying at Blue Hawaii! The house was beyond gorgeous and had all the amenities that you could ever need staying in a vacation home. Joni and Jim are absolutely wonderful to work with and made the whole process smooth and enjoyable. I definitely will be coming back!!
We were pleasantly surprised by this rental. Lots of extras with this property but our favorite parts are the lanai, the modern kitchen/appliances, the overall cleanliness of the property and the labels that help you know what to do when it isn't already obvious. It's a bit of a drive to the stores but the solitude is totally worth it. If I ever get to move to Hawaii I would want to live in this area.
Our party of 4 loved Blue Hawaii. It was further south than we had anticipated but it gave us more timely access to snorkel sites even further south that we had not yet experienced in our previous visits to the Island (such as the Tide Pools). The home was well-appointed and comfortable. The many extras such as a variety of games was appreciated (although the low lighting gave our eyes a workout!). The view from the deck was amazing and the sunsets spectacular.
This is a beautiful house with panoramic ocean views located in a quiet and pleasant sub-development about 20 minutes south of Captain Cook. We found it perfectly clean and well-maintained in every respect. It is spacious and super-comfortable. The lanai is a piece of heaven on earth! Had we not been active people, we could easily have simply indulged all day in the comforts of home. The kitchen is very well-equipped, which was helpful since we did not want to spend too much time on the road. We liked the black pebble beach at the bottom of the road and the walk gives you quite a work-out since the road is very steep. The beach at Ho'okena nearby was a great alternative, and more child-friendly.
We would have loved to extend our stay, and would gladly repeat!
After flying all day from the east coast and arriving on the island after dark, I started questioning whether we had made a mistake in booking a property so far from Kona. In reality it isn't that far; but when you are tired, it is dark and the roads are unfamiliar, it feels far. On seeing the house, my worries were immediately put to rest. The next morning as we were having breakfast out on the lanai, listening to the birds, taking in the expansive view and watching the waves roll in below, I remembered that we booked this place intentionally. We wanted to get away from it all. In reality we were only about 45 minutes from all that Kona had to offer (and frankly, most of what it had to offer is what we were trying to get away from in the first place!). Minutes down the hill is a quiet, black pebble beach that during the week was pretty much deserted. Excellent snorkeling is just 20 minutes up the road at Two Steps. Coffee plantations and little coffee shops abound here in the heart of the Kona coffee belt. The best grocery store we found on the island (we thought better prices and produce than Safeway, etc) is just 20 minutes up the road in Captain Cook. Also nearby is Da Poke Shack, with fresh, local fare. Also check out Randy's Huli Chicken (skip the ribs and go straight for the chicken!). We brought one home and thought it was the best rotisserie chicken we'd ever eaten. With all the activities there are to do in the area, just relaxing at the house proved to be at the top of the list. I have no complaints about the property as the owners truly thought of everything. The kitchen is very well stocked. The beach gear that was provided (towels, chairs, blankets, mats, umbrellas, cooler, snorkeling gear, flotation noodles) allowed us to pack lighter and save on rentals. Everything was clean and in working condition. I highly recommend this location. Our only regret was leaving!
You will be within 10-15 minutes of Captain Cook's Monument, Ho'Okena Beach Park (Dolphins), Honaunau Bay (Two-steps) is a ten minute drive away (great snorkeling), Pu'uhonua, o'Honaunau National Historical Park(City of Rufuge -Sea Turtles), Multiple Coffee Tasting opportunities, Fresh Fruit Stands, Tastes of local Hawaiian delicacies, and beaches with Dolphin, Manta Rays and Sea Turtles. Rent a Sea Kayak and hit the bay or Snorkel off your own private Pebble Beach. Less than a 4 Minute drive from the house. Travel to an active volcano to watch it's caldera light up the night sky, or just linger on the Lanai and feel the difference of Blue Hawaii.

Rental fee, HI State Tax of 13.42%, Cleaning fee, VRBO Protection & Service fee, and additional guest fees are assessed upon booking. 50% Deposit is required at booking. Final Payment is due 30 days prior to check-in date. If the booking is less than 30 days to check in, full payment is expected at booking, even if it populates as two separate payments. Rental Agreement must be signed electronically & 1st Payment received before rental will be guaranteed. Directions/Address/Door codes provided 14 days of arrival via Home Away Hospitality Application. A cancellation fee of $125.00 is assessed and deducted from fees returned when canceled up to 45 days before arrival.
