Why Stanley Habib chose Massachusetts

Got to know this magnificent area through our daughter and decided to have a second home here.

What makes this house unique

Guests typically find the home suitable for stays for just plain relaxation, enjoying the magnificent view and area and taking advantage of the numerous recreational, cultural and dining facilities in this five college area. It is a great place to stay if attending a graduation, picking up or delivering your student to the five college area. Often weddings are held nearby so family members stay to either prepare for the wedding or to attend the wedding. In addition many visit family members or are planning family reunions in the area and chose to stay at our welcoming home.

The home rests in a very quiet and peaceful setting. We enjoyed morning coffee/breakfast on the deck and dining room table, overlooking the beautiful yard and scenery. It was exactly what we needed for our time away. And as somebody else pointed out, there is a swing in the living room and I did try it out! Thank you Miriam and Stanley!!

Owner's Response: Shari and members of her family were very good guests staying at our home. They appreciated the view and the peacefulness of our home and we feel that the home does offer a restful peaceful place yet near enough to lots of amenities ( walks, biking, restaruants, culture etc. ) Shari and her folks left the house in fine condition and did what we ask of our guests. She respected our home and it was a pleasure to have she and her family stay at our home.

Lovely house with nice vibe and amazing views

  • 5 of 5

First of all, I’d like to point out something that none of the other reviewers have so far: THERE IS A SWING IN THE LIVING ROOM. I did not use it, because I am enormous, but if not having a swing in the living room is a deal-breaker for you, look no further!

Anyway.

The house is isolated and quiet. The vibe of the house is very 1971, but it has all modern conveniences like wifi, a stereo, central heat, etc. ( and check out that giant solar panel ) The southern side of the house has a GORGEOUS view of the mountains.

I stayed there for three days for my annual “enjoy autumn with all my old UMass friends” trip, but I’d like to bring my family there in the summertime for a week if possible.

Mr. Habib was very quick in responding to my questions. I felt very welcomed.

Owner's Response: James is the kind of guest one enjoys having for a couple of reasons. First he appreciated the somewhat unique nature of the house it being built with local tobacco barn wood , a wooden structure built in 1970s style and had features he liked. Very important to a host is that he respected our home by leaving it in excellent condition with all put away properly and all straightened up and clean. Stanley

Fall in Western Massachusetts

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the Montague property. It was a quiet and peaceful setting, yet still very convenient to the Five Colleges area. The house itself was charming and the overall impression was very warm and welcoming.

Excellent location and peaceful surroundings

  • 5 of 5

We rented this property for 2 weeks during summer of 2016 and the rental was very much as advertised. It is a comfortable home with all of the essentials. The hosts were generous, inviting us to pick veggies from their garden and seemed concerned that everything was up to specs. Their information regarding the property and operational details were complete. I have dated familiarity with the pioneer valley so it was wonderful getting back into the feel of western MA. This house provided us with an excellent starting point to visit local farmers markets, food coops, restaurants as well as hiking, biking and swimming. All were within 30 minutes of this property. Several of my cycling adventures started from the house. A trip to Tanglewood topped off our visit. The house looks as though it would be comfortable for 3-4 (we were but 2). Our regret was that we did not spend more time at the house enjoying the garden, the view, and the peace. Dinner and lunch on the deck with a great view of Mt Toby should be part of your visit.

Our thanks to the owners.

Owner's Response: Terence and his wife were really good guests at our home. They asked us about how to leave the house in good condition and indeed they did leave it in good condition. There stay was one of our longer guests and we appreciated the one or two suggestions they made. Glad they stayed and glad to have their pleasant respect for our home leaving it in fine condition.

A warm and welcoming family home in a beautiful setting

  • 4 of 5

My daughter and I stayed at this family home for her graduation week-end. The house was clean and amply provided for with linens, seating, beds, bathrooms and kitchen items to make my daughter and I, and several family members and close kin who visited us for meals through out the week-end, very comfortable. The home is simple and spare, but comfortable. For those wanting a host who is very helpful but who also grants privacy and allows guests to have a sense of independence in taking care of themselves, this is the perfect rental. For those who love nature, walks in the country, a quiet location and a view that is all embracing, including stars at night and hills and meadows - this is your place! A lovely stay, attentive hosts if any needs arose and a great location. Thank you!
