Your little haven in the Heart of Seattle - 1 bed, 1 bath, balcony off kitchen
About Teresa Simon
Let me tell you a secret about this house. It's been renovated with love, sweat and tears and it all started back in 2005 when my husband moved from New York and bought it. I lived next door and when we met, I asked him to move his garbage cans out of my driveway. But soon I started asking him to salsa dancing and then he asked me to dinner. And we fell in love. The man who bought this house married the girl next door (me!). Two kids and a few years later we kept the homes as rentals and moved a few blocks north. I left my job at Microsoft and started buffing, remodeling, scraping and decorating this home we've come to love. We're Team Simon and our whole family works to make this a place you'll love to call home for a while. We love it! And we hope you'll love it, too.

Why Teresa Simon chose Fremont
We bought this home for the same reason you'll want to stay here.... close to Green Lake (swimming, paddle boats, golf)! Close to the Zoo (animals, outdoor summer concerts)! Grocery store 3 blocks away (last minute wine and snacks)! Right next to the express bus to downtown and close to all the great restaurants in Fremont (cook, schmook... let's go out to eat)! It's the perfect centralized hub to live like a local while still being close to everything the downtown area has to offer. Home away from home!

Comfortable and Well Located
The minute we walked in the door we felt at home. Very cozy and bright. My wife dislikes dark places and she loved this rental. We had a brief problem with the TV but it was taken care of in short order by replacing the TV. Nicely done! The bus stop is about 200 steps from the property and gets you downtown in about 12 minutes. Super handy! Green lake and the Zoo are walking distance. If you can't do steps you'd have a problem here. But if you can, there are no problems here. The best VRBO experience we've ever had. I would recommend it and would stay here again.
Would stay again.
This little apartment in the top of a Cape Cod was perfect for our stay! Clean & stocked with plenty of towels & kitchen utensils & even coffee. The bed was comfortable, the balcony was cute with great views of the mountains & the location was great. Parking was easy to find closeby on surrounding streets & a market & plenty of restaurants/coffee houses within a short walking distance! If you're tall the bathroom could be an issue & there are lots of stairs but we were aware of those things & had no issues. We loved our time in Seattle, only regret is not staying at City Haven for our entire stay... only because it was already taken for part of our time there.
Lots and lots of stairs!!
Spacious apartment, comfy bed, noisy fridge and a/c unit; definitely cannot be over 5’7” to shower or use the toilet! Owner communication was excellent and additional information she provided was very helpful.
The flat was very clean, well appointed and a great location. We walked down Fremont Avenue to find a great breakfast venue and a fabulous market. We had a lovely time and would recommend this as a place to stay.
Beautiful 2nd story apartment in a very well maintained house. Lots of natural light, a small balcony for sipping coffee in the morning and comfortable bed. The only recommendation I have would be for people taller than about 5'7", the bathroom will likely be challenging for you. Apart from that the place was amazing. Every amenity you could possibly need was close at hand. A short walk to bars and restaurants, the zoo and a grocery store. Street parking was relatively easy. Teresa was very helpful and responsive. Thanks for a great stay!
Probably a 2.5 rating. Some good, but I wouldn't stay again. Here's why.
For over 10 years we have used vrbo and eventually another home sharing site. We have alot of experience with those two, and we enjoy writing reviews whether it is amazon, tripadvisor, or whatever. But I would give this property an average rating. There is some good, and some bad. We will share our experience and let you decide. First, the host does an excellent job communicating. She graciously let us check-in early as we arrived in Seattle at noon and had our bags. The check-in process was simple. The neighborhood is good. The express bus is steps away; I am just not sure where you could take it. We were visitors to Seattle for four nights. When we told our Seattle friends where we were staying- Fremont neighborhood- they were impressed. Everyone likes this neighborhood. Nice place to buy groceries just blocks away. Amazing restaurant called Paseo Caribbean a short walk away. Now the bad. Some can be controlled, some cannot. It's your typical 100 year old house, where an attic has been converted into a 600 ft space. So, watch your head. That's life with an older house. Watch your head when you do laundry. Watch your head when you use the toilet. My wife, a former Division I volleyball player, pointed out that if you are over 6'0" you probably can't use the shower. So, low clearances. Huge complaint would be the queen bed. Anytime one of us moved in the middle of the night, the bed would creak. It made sleeping horrible. The mattress didn't squeak. It wasn't the wood floors. It was the bedroom set. It didn't seem to hold two normal sized adults- squeaked anytime one of us moved at all. It made it very tough to sleep. I also wouldn't recommend this place for sleeping four. The couch was not very comfortable to sit on or relax on so I can't imagine sleeping on it. Again, much of that is due to an older, small space. You can't exactly have a sectional there. So, it wasn't really a place to relax and enjoy- it just wasn't comfortable. Personally, I would pay 2-3 times the rate and stay at Embassy Suites by Century Link Field. I just wouldn't stay here again. Average to a bit below average, simply because I think the bed and the quality of sleep is of paramount importance. But again, some good. Great neighborhood. Very clean space. Very nicely staged and decorated. Just know that it's the very top of an old house so watch your head. And I was very disappointed in the bed that creaks anytime one person moved. It made for four nights of bad sleep.
Thanks for taking the time to write a thoughtful review! We’re glad there were things you liked about the home and appreciate you sharing your thoughts. We've done our best through pictures and description to accurately describe the property including the square footage and leave it to guests to decide if the home is a good fit based on their height or preferences. We want guests to be comfortable and would rather they choose another property if this home is not a good fit. Sofa beds are not typically as comfortable as regular beds so we agree that if sleep quality and space is a high priority, guests would be better off renting a different property with two bedrooms and more space. As you mentioned, we were in contact during your stay. We wish you would have let us know about your concerns with the bed as we’d have been happy to take a look at it if we’d known. We want guests to have a good experience staying with us and are sorry you were uncomfortable during your visit.
