We have two villas that I manage for the owners, one which is in VRBO, and another, which will also be entered into VRBO in early 2016. (Great in case you are hoping to have a large family vacation and need two villas!) Very nice, newer house in a nice quiet small development. Compared to other places that sleep 6, I would think this place is much larger than most. Ideal for 3 couples looking for the advantages of a sharing a nice house, but with nice bedroom suites with private patio/or deck to allow everyone their own space.
The neighborhood fitness center and the beach front grotto were fantastic and we had them to ourselves despite being there during the Christmas holiday week.
We also appreciated the local property manager who was available to answer questions and provide service as needed.
We stayed as 3 couples, equally splitting the rental fee. This made the stay extremely competitive with the local resort hotels and we had much more privacy and space. Having breakfast at the Villa each morning rather than at the usual hotel buffet saved quite a bit of money. Every couple had a private suite and patio lanai. Only one of the bedrooms was upstairs so it is possible for an elderly couple to have a first floor accommodation.
The kitchen was fully equipped and we were able to have three very nice dinners at home. Having your own personal pool and spa was a real luxury. The"Grotto" pool facility, located overlooking the ocean, is one of the most beautiful places on the island. You also have access to superb onsite exercise facilities and golf and tennis at the Mauna Lani. Each couple would benefit from having their own car. A variety of some of the best restaurants on the island are within a 10-15 minute drive.The management staff was very friendly and took care of any requests that we had through out the stay. A wonderful experience.
The property and customer service was stellar throughout our stay. My wife and I were fortunate to share this gorgeous home with two other couples for Ironman week. The home, inside and out, is beautifully furnished and appointed, with plenty of room for all to have their own space. The outdoor shower is particularly nice! We thoroughly enjoyed access to the Grotto, beach club, and private fitness facility. Many thanks to Joan for providing great recommendations, help and making sure our stay was beyond wonderful!
My husband and I and 2 friends had the pleasure of staying here for a week. This property is phenomenal - pristine, luxurious, and yet totally comfy. The bedrooms are huge and far enough apart that each couple had plenty of privacy. The kitchen and outdoor grill/cook area more than accommodated our needs. We were able to prepare several beautiful meals onsite and enjoy them outdoors. The pool and jacuzzi were a wonderful treat. I found this property to embody the spirit of the island - it creates a space for blissful relaxation. The community grotto was another highlight. Wow - lava rock infinity pool, additional jacuzzis, and a stunning view of the ocean. Can you ask for much more?
You could easily commit to relaxing at the villa itself, but when you are ready to explore this magical island, this property is centrally located and right in the middle of it all. We had plenty of restaurant and shopping options within a 5 minute drive and many more options within a 20 min drive. Beautiful beaches - whether remote or resort - are in abundance within a short drive. Truly, this place has it all. We cannot wait to come back again!
Our group of 4 adults and one teenager had the pleasure of spending 11 nights at this magnificent home in Ke Kailani. The design of the home was perfect for our needs. The two large master suites provided maximum privacy to my husband and I to and our daughter and son in-law. The ohana, just outside of the main house, was perfect for our resident teenager! Meanwhile, the expansive open space of the kitchen and living space made for comfortable family time. The outside space was so beautiful!
We also took full advantage of the Grotto area, having several picnics and watching magnificent sunsets. The property is very conveniently located, close to shops, grocery store and The Mauni Lani Beach Club. We are all agreed that we look forward to returning as soon as possible!
We stayed at the villa for two weeks and it was the best stay ever! The home has a nice view of the golf course and the ocean (appreciated better from upstairs.) The main Villa has two very large master bedrooms with huge bathrooms and walk in closets. The outside hale/bldg has another bedroom and bathroom, it was nice but we didnt have a need for it due to our small family. We stayed with two teens and they just loved their upstairs room with the view of the ocean. They also spent alot of time in the swimming pool! My husband and I liked the outside area since it had a barbeque grill and plenty of comfy seating. The only thing we could not figure out in the backyard was how to hook up our IPODs to the entertaiment system. The inside of the home was gorgeous! Gorgeous tile and granite everywhere. The carpet in bedrooms was almost white so we took off our shoes at the entrance. The kitchen was top of the line and fully stocked with glassware/dinnerware and pots/pans and even paper/plastic products. This was convenient since we cooked several days. The entertainment/living room had a nice TV with Blue Ray player set up, this was good for watching REDBOX movies. The bedding and pillows were clean and comfortable. It also has a full washer and dryer which we used several times to wash towels and beachy clothes. Having access to the Grotto was wonderful - we would pack up some food and drinks and drive over, relax and watch the sunset. So very peaceful. The other great thing abou this home is that its close to Mauna Lani and Waikoloa resorts. Plenty of shopping and restaurants close by! The property management staff were very helpful when we had issues with internet access. Overall, I dont have one negative thing to say about this property, we would stay there again in a heartbeat!! The Mauna Lani Resort Area has world-class golf, dining, shopping (The Shops At Mauna Lani), and spas. (Try an outdoor couples massage at the Mauna Lani Spa!) Venture upcountry to Waimea (Kamuela), in the heart of Parker Ranch, which was at onetime the largest private cattle ranch in the US. Your short picturesque drive will amaze you as you pass various climatic zones up to Waimea at 2,500 ft. Home to fabulous farmers' market on several days throughout the week, purchase organic produce grown in the rich volcanic Waimea soil, and peruse the local arts and crafts. Waimea is home to Merriman's Restaurant, arguably the best restaurant in the state, and also other excellent choices like, Redwater Cafe, Fish and Hog, as well as causal offerings like Village Burger (gourmet burgers with local products and handcrafted shakes). Big Island Brewhaus is a micro-brewery that is trending with many US Open medals, and up to 15 distinct Brewhaus beers. Start with a beer flight to discover your own favorite! Foodies will have to make a few trips to Waimea. Venture to the north of the island to Kohala, the charming village of Hawi and Kapaau will let you see a glimpse of vintage Hawaii. Have dinner at Sushi Rock (best Sushi on the island), and try Hawaiian kava and homemade fudge at the Kava Bar, check out the lookout at Pololu Valley, and hike down the path to see a black sand beach. (Too rough to swim). There are zip-line, and ATV tours in Kohala. Traveling to the east side of the island, stop in at Tex's Drive-In and try the Portuguese malasada dough-nuts and Kona coffee. Continue you on to view the world-famous Akaka Falls, take the scenic route on to Hilo and stop for a visit to the Botanical Gardens, (well worth the stop!). Is seeing an active volcano on your buck list? Plan on at least a half-day excursion to Volcano National Park, hike Thurston Lava Tube (Jurassic Park-like setting!), see the caldera, and view the informative park presentations in the visitors centers. On your way back to the west side of the island, you can stop at Volcano Winery and sample wine made right in the town of Volcano! At South Point you can see a green sand beach. The seaside village of Kona is a good place to shop for souvenirs, enjoy casual dining, window shop at art galleries, check out the activities at the pier, and if you are lucky see wild dolphins skirting around in a playful pack. Don't forget a tour at one of the coffee plantations in the coffee belt just south of Kona. They will ship your purchase for you. Deep sea fishing tours can be arranged out of Honokohau Harbor, just North of Kona. Star gazing atop Mauna Kea's summit is spectacular! Tri-athletes have recognized the Kohala Coast as one of the premier locations in the world for biking, open-water swimming, and running. Pick a different Hawaiian adventure and pristine beach every day! Don't want to exert too much...your private pool, spa, and shaded lanais await you in the backyard of the villa.
