FLORENCE ITALY PERFECT MICHAELA APARTMENT
This is an excellent Florence Vacation Apartment if an historic center location and affordability are top priorities. The Michaela Florence apartment is a perfect retreat from Florence's busy downtown streets.
The apartment is located off of the high-fashion Via Tornabuoni, with numerous major designer boutiques just outside the front door of the apartment building. Stroll along downtown Florence pedestrian thoroughfares, enjoy outdoor cafes, easy museum access due to the central location, plenty of shopping, restaurants, and the best produce market, the Mercato Centrale, all within walking distance.
Piazza Repubblica only a few blocks away, the Uffizi Gallery, the Duomo and Ponte Vecchio Bridge an easy 5 to 10 minute walk. Just down the street is the famous Palazzo Strozzi. Going in the opposite direction, the Santa Maria Novella train station is an 8 minute walk.
If you are looking for a chic neighborhood and a convenient stopping point at the end of a busy day of sightseeing, the Michaela apartment offers the perfect solution.
It is located on the 3rd floor (this is called the 2nd floor in Italy) of a four-story apartment building which has an elevator. Once you enter the building there are six steps up to the elevator.
Enter off a private hallway into the pleasant living room with queen size sofa bed, chair, two windows, flat screen TV.
A separate dining room with kitchenette is good for light meal preparation. The dining room window overlooks the internal courtyard and service terraces of other apartments. Off the dining room is a full bathroom with enclosed shower, sink, toilet and bidet. There is a large storage closet between the dining room and bathroom.
The efficiency kitchen has a 2-burner electric stove top, microwave, toaster, under-the-counter refrigerator, and Italian-style coffeepot. Drip coffeemaker available upon request. The round dining table seats up to four people. The kitchenette is fully stocked with dishes, pots and pans.
The bedroom is to the other side of the living room. It has two single beds that can be prepared together or apart and an armoire for your clothing. An en suite bathroom has shower, sink, toilet and bidet.
Within the same building are our Prisco VRBO #52284, Strozzi VRBO #156858 vacation rental apartments.
No check in after 7:00 pm. So sorry, no exceptions.

It was a great apartment in a perfect location. The owners were lovely and very accommodating and friendly.
The apartment, Michaela, that we rented in Florence was in the perfect location. It was within walking distance of almost anything you would want to see, and there was a wonderful bakery, a great deli and some wonderful restaurants all within a block or two. The owners of the apartment were charming and helpful. Staying at this apartment was part of what made the entire Florence part of our vacation a favorite.
We were very pleased with our stay in this apartment. The apartment is within walking distance of everything we wanted to see and do, and we were able to walk to the train station on arrival and departure (10 minutes). Because the apartment is very quiet, facing a courtyard and not the street, it was always a surprise to open the front door of this beautiful building and step out into the bustling center of Florence. The area around the apartment is packed with restaurants and there is a very small food shop (for yogurt, milk and the like). Larger grocery stores are farther away, but still within walking distance. The second full bathroom was a plus, as well. Finally, our hosts were charming. They gave us a thorough orientation to the apartment and the neighborhood when they handed over the keys. We did sneak a peak at the Prisco apartment, which used to be the main living area of this family's flat, and it is stunning, with high ceilings and beautiful details and a full kitchen. However, we preferred the quieter placement of Michaela at the end of the hall. One thing to note is that this is a spacious, comfortable apartment, but it is not a luxury hotel. Towels are line dried, which means a bit scratchy, and sheets aren't changed daily. But, this is what we were expecting and it suited us just fine.
We have stayed in Firenze before in hotels, and this was a refreshing change. Ideal location within easy walking distance of Academia and Uffizi and the shopping areas. Miki and Franco are lovely, gracious people who were quite helpful with directions and restaurant suggestions. We recommend this type of travel to those seeking more of a "locals" experience.
From the moment we opened the front door to the apartment Michaela, we knew we weren't in California anymore!
It oozes the European feel we wanted and the location was ideal!
Two bathrooms were a treat as was the large bedroom and kitchen! A lovely respite after a busy day exploring an amazing city.
I would recommend having some basics like plastic wrap, sugar and more garbage bags.
Late at night and early in the morning the adjoining bakery could be quite noisy. Closing the windows helped but I think in warmer months this could be a problem.
Despite those suggestions we loved our 6 days there and have already recommended it to friends!
Favorite restaurant? Trattoria Casalinga in the Oltrarno but close by the apartment. Great value and a deliciously authentic experience!
Perfect location and great apartment, but what makes it even more spectacular are the hosts. We stayed in the apartment from Dec 28 until Jan 1. Florence was filled with tourists and new year's eve partyers. Our hosts, Miki and Franco, tried to unsuccessfully reserve a cab the night before for our early 1/1 airport departure due to all of the partyers still filling the streets. Instead - they suggested we get up early and call. Time was winding down, it was 5 am and we were desperate to get ot the airport. As a last resort, we called Franco. Without a fuss he picked us up and drove us to the airport. Both Miki and Franco took excellent care of us and made us feel very welcome. I highly recommend this apartment for your stay in Florence.
We highly recommend the Michaela apartment for your stay in Florence. Located in the center of an elegant shopping district, yet a few blocks from the historic Duomo & surrounded by local shops, restaurants & markets .... What could be better? Our hosts greeted us warmly & oriented us to everything about the apartment and the neighborhood. The apartment has everything you might need for a lovely stay.
