Surf and sand at the end of a large lawn offer a beautiful vacation setting. This is a true beach house just steps across the lawn to the no bank sandy beach.

Enjoy Bald Eagles and Ospreys overhead with the call of the Sandpiper or Kingfisher in the background.

Located just 10 minutes from the Nordic town of Poulsbo with boutique shops and great restaurants, a waterfront park that hosts festivals and live music on summer evenings. The clear deep waters of the Hood Canal framed by the evergreens with snow capped peaks in the distance are the true Northwest Experience. You will love the peace and quiet and you may even see a submarine from the nearby Bangor Submarine Base go by.

Located in Lofall you will also have access to the lovely Red Cedar Farm wedding venue.

Nearby are many sightseeing opportunities including historic Port Gamble and of course the entire Olympic Peninsula with rainforests, miles of trails and the Olympic National Park. There are a multitude of easy day trips to really see and experience the Northwest at its best.

Hiking, Fishing, kayaking, sailing and other water sports are available nearby. The difficulty will be in choosing what to do from the myriad of opportunities that await. The Saturday Farmers Market in downtown Poulsbo is one of the best around.

The Clearwater Casino is 15 minutes away with summer concerts outdoors, live entertainment in the lounge and of course world class gaming.

If you choose to stay in and enjoy the ambience of the beach house, Central Market a destination grocery store is 10 minutes away with an extensive wine and beer selection, a gourmet olive and cheese bar and the best fresh and local organic produce, meats and seafood. They have take out BBQ, an espresso stand, fresh sushi, fresh ice cream and so much more.

The rec room features a pool table, wood burning stove and pull out couch for cozy evenings. In addition there is a living room in the front of the home with views of the water and French doors that open to the huge wrap-around deck. A day bed is tucked in the corner for relaxing and reading or offers an additional sleeping space.

The kitchen is light and bright with an eating nook that comfortably seats 6-8. We outfit the kitchen with all of the utensils and dishes you need to create your own meals with the fabulous fresh NW ingredients you bring home from the farmers market or the gourmet grocery stores nearby. BBQ or cook indoors you will have everything you need.

A large dining table with water views adjoins the kitchen that seats 8-10 and there is another outdoor table that seats 6-8 for morning coffee, an afternoon picnic or those lingering summer evening barbeques.

There is a bedroom with a double bed and a full bath on the main with tub/shower combo and another 3/4 bath on main with a shower only. In addition to the two baths on the main floor there is a half bath upstairs.

Upstairs are three bedrooms featuring a king bed in the first one, a double in the second and a trundle bed (two twins in the third.

Downstairs is a pull out sofa in the rec room and an adults only loft with two double futons that can sleep 4.

The beach house is reminiscent of summers past with a true vintage feel. Built in the late 1800's it retains much of the charm of yesteryear. Over the years our guests have remarked that staying there has been one of the best vacations they ever experienced.

We look forward to sharing our special beach house with you and yours. Welcome to the Beach House Cottage

Pro's and Con's

  • 4 of 5

Our family vacationed at this property for several days. Here are the pro’s and con’s:

Pro’s:

The overall property is really nice. It is in a quiet neighborhood with ample space in between the houses. It has a very large grass yard that leads to a sandy beach that children can play on. As you go closer to the water, this sandy beach becomes a semi-rocky beach with lots of oysters and other shells. In addition, at low tide, the water becomes deeper very slowly, which is nice if you have small kids like we did.

The views are good from the main house, and they are awesome at the beach where you can look west towards the mountains. (If you take a stroll down the beach, you quickly get an even better view of the mountains.) Those mountains are lovely during the daytime and make for great sunsets.

The owner is very pleasant to work with and extremely helpful.

In our opinion, the best part about this property is the “boat house.” (It does not house boats. I don’t know why they call it that.) The boat house is a roughly 300 square foot building right on the beach that has a kitchen sink, a refrigerator, an ice machine, and plenty of outdoor seating. (It also has a toilet.) This is a fantastic place to hang out, watch kids play on the beach or watch the sunset. The boat house is also equipped with all sorts of things like beach towels, outdoor blankets, beach toys, a wading pool, fishing poles and a basketball for the small blacktop on the back of this building, which has a basketball hoop.

Con’s:

Portions of the main house are fairly worn and need minor repairs or updating. For example, there were some missing tiles in one of the showers, and some of the doors and cabinets are pretty scuffed up. To be clear though, this was almost entirely cosmetic.

The house was not dirty, but it wasn't as clean as I would have expected given the amount of the cleaning fee.

Perfect place for gathering family and friends

  • 5 of 5

Our daughter's wedding was held at Kitsap Park and our families stayed here for the weekend. It was a PERFECT place to host the families and prep for the event with the large kitchen and dining area. The youngsters were able to explore the beach, play in the sand and burn off energy running in the yard. We adults were able to relax on the wraparound deck, at the boat house or around the firepit. Perfectly equipped for a large family crowd. I can't think of a detail that could make the place better- even saw an eagle in the nearby trees. This place is a true memory maker!

stunning views, great beach

  • 5 of 5

Excellent owners make the property enjoyable to rent from the paperwork perspective. Then the property with excellent views of Mt. Baker, as well as Hood Canal Bridge from the living room and the Olympic Mountains from the beach are sooo.. enjoyable.

Picturesque beach getaway

  • 5 of 5

We stayed just for the weekend and I wish it would have been a month. The views alone make this property one to see, sand beach with shells galore I could have sat at the beach all weekend, but I would have missed the rest of the house. The wrap around deck was perfect for outside dinners, grilling, evening cocktails, and soaking in the views. Natural light pours into all rooms of the house. The house is decorated so thoughtfully with a beach theme, cooling blues, and tasteful art pieces. Beds are incredibly comfortable and there is one for everyone! Jana had the kitchen stocked for us and fresh flowers waiting on the table. I've never felt so welcomed by a host at a rental before she gave us the full tour of the huge property and even had wood ready for a beach fire! We had originally planned to see some sights with the close access to Olympic National Park but spent most of the weekend just enjoying this wonderful home and all it has to offer. If you are looking for a place the whole family can be together, this is the perfect place.

Great rental!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great week at this rental on the Hood Canal. Biggest highlight is certainly the location right on the water. I could have sat on those red lounge chairs and looked out over the water for the whole week! But the kids had more active energy, so we spent a good deal of time playing a variety of yard games on the lawn. And we enjoyed many meals at the big dining table in the house, and also on the deck of the boathouse closer to the water. We appreciated that the kitchen was incredibly well stocked with everything we could want/need. And Jana was not only very responsive before and throughout our stay, but also extremely gracious about our use of almost everything we found on the property. The love and care she and her family have put into updating the place is apparent -- I think the pictures do a great job of conveying that (although I'll add that the bed linens are REALLY nice - you can't necessarily tell that detail from the visuals!).

The only item that I would put on a "con" list is the low-level "beachy-mustiness" that we noticed in the back rec room area of the house. It was not particularly strong, and it was also not pervasive to the rest of the house; once we opened the windows to get a cross-breeze in that room it was not really noticeable. If VRBO would have let me I would have given this rental a 4.75 rating out of 5 to account for that minor flaw. But overall we had an AMAZING vacation at this rental. Definitely recommend.
