Hawaiian Style Nice Custom 2 bd/1ba on the World Famous Kona Coffee Belt. Beautiful Tropical surroundings with coffee, avo, papaya, banana etc trees and flowers. Wonderful Lanai to watch the Awesome Sunsets over the Ocean. Kealakekua is in the Kona District on the Big Island. It is just South of Kailua-Kona (Ironman start and finish area) and North of Kealakekua Bay (One of the best snorkeling spots in the World!!!) This Home is away from all the tourist traps yet only 8-10 miles away from the heart of Kailua-Kona with all it's shops and activity booths. There is a local Hawaiian town a few blocks away. The homes sits at a little cooler elevation which is very desirable.:) Pictures are all on property and will give you a good idea of what to expect but please feel free to ask me questions and tell me what you are looking for. I did not post pictures of nearby beaches and other Big Island areas that are not on this property. Home comes with plenty of beach towels, beach umbrella, chair, coolers and even a couple kayaks under the house you are welcome to dust off and use at no extra cost. This has been my family home for many years looking for travelers that will enjoy it and treat it with Aloha :) It's a Fantastic property! Know you will love it!!! Rates are low I wanted to make it affordable for couples and based on a two person occupancy there will be a $20 a day charge per additional guest. If you look at My first review (last one down)they describe it perfectly and gives more info so check that out if you want more info :) This is NOT a party house at times owner or friend of owner could be staying in downstairs Ohana. There is NOT a communal kitchen or anything like that. You have your own private 2bd home upstairs with lanai and entrance and yard. Your privacy is always respected :) but I can be reached easily by phone or will have a local contact person when I am off island. There are frogs on property that you will probably never see but Will hear at night :) There are wild chickens that cruise through the property from time to time and have had roosters on occasion. This home is known as a very peaceful place to stay I just like to try to tell you anything someone may consider as a negative so there are no surprises and you have an Awesome stay:) There is a Queen size bed in the master bedroom and a double in the smaller bedroom. NON smoking on Entire Property. Think this covers it please just ask if you have any questions and I will be happy to answer them :) Mahalo
ps Yes there is wifi
Not the best on computers not sure how to get the red out on photo ....I raised my children in this home. Have lived on the Big Island for over 25 + years. Love it here feel free to ask questions. Happy to give you some local tips.
Awesome property! it's why I have called it home for so long :)
It's tropical you know you are in Hawaii it's cooler than town and away from all the traffic noise but close enough that its not a mission to go to town and back. Kealakekua is considered a very desirable area to live on the Big Island it is hard to find a place to buy because people move here and don't leave. The high school is filled with children who have parents that went there as children. To me it was the perfect place to raise my children and a place they want to return to when they are ready to settle down and start their own families:)
We found the house/property to be a wonderful place for our 11 days on Hawaii.
It was like living in the jungle, completely surrounded with all of this lush, tropical vegetation. You would be hard pressed to know that there were any neighbors nearby, except for one house that was partially visible.
We really enjoyed the wildlife, including the frogs and birds that were frequently heard. The frogs took some getting used to the first day, but once we got used to them, they were very entertaining. We also had several of the Hawaii state birds visit us, the bantam chicken, including one rooster and several hens. We saw one hen sitting on a clutch of eggs when we arrived. After a few days, she hatched out 6 chicks, which she entertained us with on daily walks through the yard as she fed them. Oh - and not to forget the cute green geckos!
The house was very comfortable, and well furnished. We never had an issue with it being too warm, as there lots of screened windows, which provided good circulation. There was everything we needed for our stay, including a monster washing machine. We could have used one or two reading lamps in the living room, but we were able to borrow them from the bedrooms, so not a big deal. The furnishings were a real treat. There is so much Hawaiian art and furniture that is absolutely beautiful. We were always discovering some new item that we had not noticed before, that was a real treat.
All in all, it was a very quiet, relaxing spot. Also, there were numerous good places for eating and grocery shopping within a very short driving distance, so we never did go to Kona for either.
This is an excellent place to stay if you are looking for something a little quieter, and more peaceful than most places on the beaten path. Immaculate, attractive architecture, gives the feeling of being outdoors! it's a 20 minute drive to great snorkeling, shopping and restaurants nearby. A great place to unwind!
We wanted a small house away from Kailua Kona town and found this home delightful. It is the owner's personal home and comes very well stocked with everything you could ever need. The VRBO descriptive is quite accurate and there were zero negative surprises. The owner, Carole, is delightful and an excellent communicator. There are local restaurants in Kealakekua and shopping fairly near. We did go into town twice during our three week stay but were quite content spending our time locally finding the beach parks, walks, etc. to be just fine and most importantly not at all crowded. I should add that the views / sunsets from the house are totally beautiful and that we'd recommend this house to anyone who wants to see the Big Island in the best possible way.
Quiet area south of Kona, out of the busy zone. Wake to the birds & beautiful sunsets in evening.
This wonderful house was ours to share for 8 amazing days in Kealakekua, we were so busy seeing the sites and meeting new family but always came HOME to this, the view, chickens, mongooses and frogs to listen to as we relaxed at the end of the day. We will be back, Carol is wonderful, she made our trip extra special. The house is filled with all of the things we needed, and I am sure the TV was great but we saw no need to even turn it on, just sitting on the lanai was all of the entertainment we needed. Thank You Carol for the wonderful memories!!
The property was incredibly beautiful, from the tropical flowers and trees surrounding the house to the great views from the large wraparound porch. The photos do not do it justice! This house felt private and tucked away from the street, and absolutely everything was provided for use. Also, the entire house was exquisitely clean.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful haven!
