Jim Meadows and Joni Meadows are brother and sister who grew up in San Clemente, Ca. I moved to Maui in 1987 and the family came to visit a year later. While on vacation the family spent time in Hana and fell in love with it. Shortly after vacation our Mother Jackie as well as my brothers all moved to Maui. We bought property in Kihei as well as Hana. Mom lived out the rest of her life in Hana, and we got to enjoy the family property over the years. Now, Jim and I are managing the property and I live here in Hana full time. We are blessed to call this our home and look forward to sharing this wonderful part of Maui with many.
Joni Meadows/ Jim Meadows purchased this house in 1988
This was always our 'getaway' from the other side of the island, and to spend time with our Mom. A beautiful property with a stunning ocean view and the quiet serenity that Hana always has. A family home with a lot of love.
This property is know around town as the house with the bridge! It sits on a half acre full of tropical flowers, fruits, and singing birds. Across the street is the Hana ranch and we see cows grazing and pheasants nesting. A huge banyan tree across the street shades the driveway as you pull into the property.
Thank you for sharing your family home with us. Hana is fantastic. Aloha.
Joni &Ha were terrific hosts. Ha has much experience as a surfer and shared his knowledge with our daughter while teaching her tto surf. We were provided a multitude of fresh bananas in addition to papayas. Many beach accessories available to use. The unit is walking distance to Hana Beach & Other local attractions. We will definitely consider staying at Hana Meadows again!
Unit is downstairs, owners live upstairs with separate entrance. Bedroom is huge with floor to ceiling window view of Hana Bay. Kitchen has recent remodel with upgraded appliances. We had everything we needed to cook/barbeque, but there are a surprising number of food trucks and little restaurants in town if you don't want to haul groceries down Hana Hwy. Back bedroom just has queen size bed and backs up to driveway which is on Hana Hwy. The road noise was a non issue. The owners are friendly and accommodating. We were surprised with how spacious and open the unit was. There is no air conditioning so the windows are open 24/7...My only advice is to bring earplugs...it is country living and the roosters start up at 0400 as well as the barking dogs. Not bad to lie in bed feeling the breeze and listening to the ocean, the tropical birds, the rain, and the roosters!!! And nothing beats having the entire Hamoa Beach to ourselves at 0800 for a morning swim!! We also headed out on our hikes early to avoid the day trippers. The unit has a shared washer/dryer in the garage but they stock plenty of bathroom and beach towels. There is also a variety of beach chairs and boogie boards available. The garage has a very nice ping pong table and television set for evening entertainment:) At night their little gazebo in the yard is lit up and is perfect for cocktail hour or to listen to the occasional rain shower.
Spent a lot of time on the lanai just enjoying the birds and pounding surf. Even the occasional rooster. Joni was easy to work with and responsive to our questions. Would definitely recommend staying here.
We felt so fortunate to stay at this property. The grounds were lovely with banana and papaya trees and a lanai. The bed is so comfortable and the kitchen has everything you could ever want and more. A wonderful place to spend your time in Hana. We are so glad we did.
