'Of all the villas/condos at Kaluakoi, this one is definitely the best situated with the best view. The moment we arrived, we felt the stress of our work lives melt away. The cottage is more than perfect. Molokai was exactly what I was hoping for, slightly off the beaten track with a charming funkiness.'

-Bret and Alona

'The view is astounding. This place is definitely a 'bargain' Hawaiian vacation.'

-Chris and Heiddi

'It is a lovely place - very quiet and peaceful. It is nicely decorated. Every room has a beautiful view. We enjoyed listening to the waves! Mahalo!'

'Thank you so much for welcoming us to this lovely home. The space was a pleasure - bright and full of luxuries. This is the perfect vacation spot. The ocean sounds keep the mind free from the stressors of everyday life.'

-John and Crista

'Your 'Home Away From Home' is very cozy with one of the most magnificent views available..... watch the ocean waves crashing against the shoreline as the birds walk around on the lanai is breathtaking. We have enjoyed immensely our stay here and will have many pleasant memories to fall back upon in the future..... We would definitely love to come back to your 'Home' again.'

-Cindy & Bob

The first morning (and every other morning as well) we had our breakfast on the lanai and watched 'our' ocean and 'our' beach. This was absolutely paradise. It was perfect for us. We met lots of very interesting people and had the best anniversary imaginable...

About Cher Trenholme

Aloha to all my family of guests past and future! I am currently living in Florida with my new husband Richard, however, my heart is always in Molokai where I was teaching 2nd grade in 2006. I enjoy travel and have recently visited Peru, China, 7 Western European countries, as well as 10 National Parks and numerous Nat. Monuments and state Parks in the Southwest. We also stayed 2 weeks this summer in my favorite location, Cottage 2A, Molokai. We explored the east end, swam in the waterfall pools at the Halawa Falls, snorkeled right out front and sipped wine on the lanai each night to a majestic sunset over Oahu. Please feel free to contact me or my assistant Michelle; you'll find I'm an accessible, helpful and friendly hostess! I know you will fall in love with Molokai and Cottage 2A, as I did!

Cher Trenholme purchased this cottage in 2000

Why Cher Trenholme chose Molokai

The moment I saw Cottage 2A, right on the ocean, I fell in love! I love being 100 steps to the sand, living in my fully furnished tropical home, which I am delighted to share with you. We had been looking on Maui, but this is truly paradise, unspoiled and uncrowded Hawaii as it has been for centuries.

What makes this cottage unique

Located at the quiet, secluded northern edge of the Kaluakoi Villas, Cottage 2A affords privacy, spectacular views and the constant music of the waves. You will think you are on your own private island! The ultimate in relaxation.

First visit to Molokai

Great ocean view location and a very comfortable

Cottage. Owners very helpful and their recommendations for local activities were spot on. Molokai is very local and welcoming; not a "touristy" atmosphere.

Fantastic place to stay in Molokai

  • 5 of 5

We arrived at dusk our first night after a long day's travel to a serene cottage to call our own. How wonderful it was to open the many doors and shutters and feel the cool ocean breeze throughout the house and hear the sound of the waves! The cottage is well kept and the owner is easy to work with. We would love to visit again!

It was wonderful to return to Cheryl’s cottage. This is the place to stay when on Molokai! Our stay was amazingly peaceful and romantic. The beautifully ocean front cottage provided us with many romantic sunsets and great whale watching memories. We will be back!

Great Stay!

  • 5 of 5

Location, location, location! If you want to be near the water, this is the place. Waves in huge sets breaking day and night right outside your door -- awesome and beautiful -- but too wild to try to swim. I had hoped to get some reading in on the lanai, but I was mesmerized by the constantly changing ocean. A deserted pavilion building off to the right somewhat obstructs the view, but its presence is forgotten after a few minutes.

Hiking trails lead both north and south to beautiful isolated beaches -- some of them swimmable even in winter. We even encountered a sea turtle on shore laying her eggs.

The unit is comfortable for 2. We slept well in the king-size bed with the surf serenading in the background. The owner is very accommodating, responsive and easy to deal with.

This was our fist time on Molokai -- it lives up to its reputation as the "friendly island". Sorry we waited so long to give it a try.

Molokai cottage

  • 5 of 5

A lovely cottage overlooking the ocean, everything was as advertised. We saw whales breaching just offshore and an awesome surf break that you can watch from the lanai with a glass of wine!

Molokai is a laid back island with a little town that reminded us of the old west, a lot of friendly locals and everything you need to enjoy your stay.

Molokai Solitude and Serenity

  • 5 of 5

Having been to all open Hawaiian islands, we saved the best for last, and we'll definitely be back! No touristy "stuff" - just authenitic beauty, quiet, and peaceful. Cottage 2A is the best kept secret! If you want the Marriott w/ extreme services, this is not it (thank goodness!) - 2A is located within an older (80's construction) complex, a drive to any services (except for the closeby convenience store) and has the best view & beach access we've experienced. The cottage is clean & well appointed with everything we could have needed, including fluffy towels! We awoke to wild turkeys strolling past the windows each morning, and enjoyed watching the lovely birds in the area. Great walking paths & trails around the area for exploring and a perfectly peaceful pool to enjoy the sun. Michelle was super responsive and we can't wait to return again! Thank you for sharing paradise with us!
