I'm from Miami Beach Florida, but have lived in Hawaii for the last 22 years where I received a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Hawaii Pacific University. I came to Hawaii in 1991 as a journalist for KGU radio.
In 1995 I left radio (I was actually fired) to start MCS Internet solutions which provided programming and connectivity solutions to businesses. That company spun off a local ISP called Pacific Internet Connections. In 1997 after acquiring the domain HAWAI-ALOHA website I merged all three companies and founded HAWAII-ALOHA website, INC which went on to design, develop and market numerous websites in Hawaii.
In 2000 I partnered with Yaling Yu (my wife) and entered into an agreement to turn HAWAII-ALOHA focus completely on to the inbound Hawaii Tourism market by transitioning the site into a Online Travel & Tour Company for Hawaii only. In the last twelve years, under my direction, the company has grown from a small two person agency to a multimillion dollar company with 15 full time Agents.
Since 2006 I have been producing The Hawaii Vacation Connection podcast which is devoted to Hawaii Travel and Tourism. The podcast receives over 25,000 downloads a month. The podcast led to an appearance on the Travel Channel which is still airing. I am very active in Social media with over 13,000 followers on Twitter. I also developed a Iphone application and produce video reviews of local Hotels and events around the island on my Youtube channel MRBRUCE 1 which has almost 2 million view

We wanted to find a place that we would stay in ourselves. Sometimes we enjoy taking a staycation and wanted a resort like atmosphere while still having the amenities of a condo, so this unit fit the bill on all accounts. After researching condo's in Waikiki we found this building to be the best we could find. The property is all upgraded and the unit we purchased is clean, has nice granite counters and is a place we feel comfortable offering to visitors coming to Hawaii.

Luana Waikiki is a hotel condo, based and built around the Hawaii hotel concept back in the 1970’s. This means that the property boasts all the amenities of a hotel yet has all the comforts of home. Luana Waikiki is a 4 star property for a 2 star price, which is hard to find in Hawaii, let alone in Waikiki. This hotel is also unique because the room offers a partial ocean view and overlooks the lush Fort DeRuessy Park of Waikiki, and is located one block from the beach. Everything in Waikiki is within walking distance of this property, making it an extremely convenient location
The unit is very nice overall. However a few things should be addressed:
1)The AC did not work during our stay. This was of minimal inconvenience since the weather in February is not very hot.
2) The grout surrounding the bathtub has the smell of mold and visible signs of mold are present. This could easily be addressed by spraying a 50% solution of bleach water on the tiled walls periodically.
3) The quality of the sheets and comforter was substandard.
4) Guests are asked to launder the towels in the unit prior to checking out. I found this to be an unusual request that I have never before experienced.
Since the unit is privately owned, the hotel staff are not required to offer any assistance to guests staying in the unit. I found this to be a bit troubling when suddenly both my room key and that of my spouse became non functional. One staff manager named Melissa made it clear that issuing me a new key was out of the realm of her responsibility. All other staff members were polite when the same issue re-occurred on yet another occasion.
I especially liked the fact that his unit is located on the 4th floor making it easy to use the stairwells rather than waiting for an elevator.
I would gladly stay in this unit again.
Had a good stay in Luana Waikiki. Heated pool mostly in the sun, 5 minutes to beach, shopping and restaurants. No car needed if you want to just relax and enjoy Waikiki area on foot. Did not realize laundry had to be done but we did it all conveniently in the hotel before we left as our timing allowed. Could easily have had two grandkids stay with us on the pull out couch. Would recommend this place and would stay here again.
Comfortable unit. Beach equipment provided. At the end of our stay we mentioned some minor issues such as no fitted bottom sheet, Bruce assured us he would have taken care of them if we had mentioned them earlier. Hotel staff were pleasant and helpful. Happy hour MWF provides chance to meet other guests.
We stayed here 4 nights.The place was clean and well maintained just like the pictures. You are in walking distance to the beach. The hotel cafe was closed for remodeling while we were there.Try out Vit's Hawaiian Steak House across the street for a tasty ribeye and a cheap breakfast.
The check-in/check-out and off site parking directions could have been a little clearer. The address to the offsite parking garage was 252-286 Saratoga road.The actual entrance is on Kalia Road. It is parking lot and not a parking garage per the description. Posting when the deposit would be refunded would be helpful. With a few minor changes these could change from a good place to stay to a great place to stay.
My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights and loved every minute of it! The room was comfortable, clean and equipped with everything we needed. The location of this unit was so convenient very close to shopping and dining. We plan on staying here again. Thank you Bruce for your wonderful service and your beautiful home.

If renting your own vehicle, you can pick it up directly from the airport under the car rental
company kiosk. Directions from the airport are as follows:
- Exiting the airport, take Interstate H1 E to Honolulu/Waikiki.
- Merge on H1 E and drive for approximately 6 miles.
- Take exit 23 for Punahou St. toward Waikiki/Manoa
- Turn right off the exit, continue on Bingham St.
- Turn right toward Mccully St.
- Slight left onto Mccully St.
- Turn left onto Kalakaua Ave.
- Destination is on your right at 2045 Kalakaua Ave.
If you are using a shuttle service, there are many to choose from, and can be booked directly
from the airport. Taxis are available directly from the airport as well, and Luana Waikiki is
approximately 12 miles from the airport, an approximate 20-minute ride. Guests are welcome to
contact the owner for transportation services, as they are happy to arrange things.
